The bad-news letter must contain the following:
A clear statement of the bad-news
Assume you are the CEO of a small business (create the specifics of this business and the product you sell—be creative). Note: the specifics of the business and product you sell should be revealed on the letterhead, the product itself, and in the letter’s content.
A customer has written a complaint indicating that his purchased product was defunct or deficient. The complaint is legitimate because, as the CEO, you are aware of improper maintenance of machines manufacturing this product. However, three months ago, this problem was corrected.
You are willing to accommodate the customer’s request partially. The letter should persuade the customer to accept the mostly bad news with a partial adjustment.
Your bad-news letter must be one full page in length, single-spaced Word document, and follow a full-block style.
use Times New Roman, 12-pt font
use normal margins (2.54 cm all around)
include company letterhead with return address
include an inside address, date
include a signature line with full credentials
