– Don’t use direct quotes – Your article summary must include a few specific sections, as described below. Please note that which particular sections are required depends on whether you are summarizing an empirical article or a review article. If your summary is missing any sections, it will initially receive a score of 0. However, you will be invited to revise and resubmit your summary. As long as you do so before the final deadline, you can still receive full credit for that summary. Empirical articles: If you are summarizing an empirical article (i.e. an article that presents one or more new research studies, not a review of past studies), you must include the following 5 sections in your summary: 1. Background: Why did the author(s) conduct this study? What theory and/or hypothesis are they testing? (Note: If there are several hypotheses, you can just list 3 of them.) 2. Methods: Who were the participants, and how were they Results: What were the key results (findings)? Did these results support the researchers’ hypothesis? (If there were several findings, you can just discuss 3 of them.) 4. Strengths and weaknesses: To exercise your creative and critical thinking skills, please describe at least 1 strength and 1 weakness of the study or studies that were presented. For example, how representative was the sample of the population of interest? Did the study do a good job of capturing (measuring or manipulating) key variables? Were there any problems with how the study was designed or conducted? Can you think of any alternative explanations for the findings, other than the explanation the authors proposed? 5. Implications and broader impacts: How do the findings inform theory (e.g., did they support a particular theory, challenge that theory, or add nuance)? Why do the findings matter in the “real world”? For example, could information gained through this study be used to help design new interventions, programs, or policies? Review articles: If you are summarizing a review article (i.e. a summary/critique of multiple past studies, not an empirical article presenting new studies), you may notice that it tends to provide an overview of key hypotheses, findings, and strengths and weaknesses of this area of research as a whole, rather than providing more detailed information about specific studies. If that’s the case, please include the following sections: 1. Summary of main points: Summarize the main points in each section of the review article as best you can. 2. Strengths and weaknesses: To exercise your creative and critical thinking skills, please describe at least 1 strength and 1 weakness of the body of research being reviewed. For example, how representative have samples in this area of research been of the population of interest? Have studies in this area generally done a good job of capturing (measuring or manipulating) key variables? Have there been any problems with how studies have been designed or conducted? Can you think of any alternative explanations for key findings in this area? Are there any gaps or disagreements in this area of research?) 3. Implications and broader impacts: How have findings in this area of research informed theory (have findings generally supported a particular theory, challenged that theory, or added nuance)? Why do findings from this area of research matter in the “real world”? For example, could information gained through studies in this area of research be used to help design new interventions, programs, or policies?[supanova_question]

Psychology Assignment Help For this activity, please do the following:

1. Listen to the Podcast and then answer questions below.

-Podcast: Hidden Brain – Why Nobody Feels Rich: The Psychology of Inequality-

If you prefer to read the transcriipts you can use this link: npr.org/transcriipts/912749547

Questions to answer based on the podcast:

-What was Dr. Payne’s first experience with the awareness of inequality?
-Dr. Payne describes a study in which researchers looked at data from millions of flights to look at what predicted incidents of “air rage”. What did the study find?
-The interviewer acknowledges that planes with first class cabins may also be more likely to be larger with more passengers and may have longer flights – all factors that could also explain the correlation found between air rage and planes with first class cabins. What is another indication then that seeing inequality between first class and coach does, in fact, seem to affect passengers?
-We seem to have a “pronounced tendency” to make upward comparisons. Even though the reasons for this are not fully understood, what is one of the potential reasons offered by Dr. Payne? What might be an adaptive function to making upward comparisons?
-What are the downsides of making upward comparisons?
-What is Dr. Payne referring to when he uses the term “broken ladder”?
-What are the effects of experiencing of inequality on our minds and bodies?
-What is the best predictor of crime and other health and social outcomes in the poorer countries? What is the stronger predictor of these things in wealthy countries?
-What is the correlation between the level of income inequality and level of political polarization? What happens as income inequality increases?
-20:00 The researchers Michael Norton and Dan Ariely once asked volunteers what kind of a country they would like to live in. The first option was shown as a pie chart showing a country where the top 20% own a third of the wealth and the bottom 20% own 10% of the wealth. The second option showed a pie chart in which the top 20% own 84% of the wealth and the bottom 20% own 0.1% of the wealth. The first pie chart represented actual data from which country? The second “very unequal” pie chart represented actual data from which country?
-In 2005, when the study described above was done, what percentage of Republicans and what percentage of Democrats preferred option one over option two?
-What, according to Dr. Payne, would have happened if those pie charts would have been labeled with their respective countries?
30:00 Why, according to Dr. Payne, is there “not really any option of not thinking about inequality”?
-What does Dr. Payne suggest as a “wiser” way to compare ourselves to others?

are a civilian member in the Domestic Violence Unit of a police agency for which you provide administrative and operational support to assist front line officers in their investigation of domestic violence matters. One role you have is to assist police officers in completing a risk assessment tool to buttress any Bail Hearing (Show Cause) conditions that may include recommendations to a Judge opposing bail to the accused alleged to have committed a violent act against anyone.

Rationale Risk assessment is a complex process that involves clinical analysis, actuarial data, and professional judgment. Risk assessment is a critical part of the justice system as it affects policing strategy, correctional planning, and bail and release. Civilian members of policing forces are often responsible for contributing to risk assessment reports. In this assignment, you will create a risk assessment report based on a number of original documents and your own completion of the ODARA tool. Please note that this scenario is comprised of a fictional storyline. Other than the police officer and City of Orillia all other characters, times, dates and circumstances were imagined. Any resemblance to actual events is purely coincidental. Assignment You are a civilian member in the Domestic Violence Unit of a police agency for which you provide administrative and operational support to assist front line officers in their investigation of domestic violence matters. One role you have is to assist police officers in completing a risk assessment tool to buttress any Bail Hearing (Show Cause) conditions that may include recommendations to a Judge opposing bail to the accused alleged to have committed a violent act against anyone. The police officer has decided that a Bail Hearing (Show Cause) is the appropriate direction to take with this matter and provided an outline of the situation under investigation. Read the various sources of information provided by the police officer and provide a risk assessment analysis using the ODARA risk assessment instrument. Your scoring for this risk assessment instrument must be sourced by sufficient case-specific evidence (using a separate page) to justify the rating you are assigning on any individual factor (especially if your score is a yes). After you have completed your analysis of risk, you are to provide a separate summary report noting the risk level posed by Mr. Stack using the ODARA instrument. You can find an online copy of the ODARA on the following link: https://www.knfp.ch/en/risk-assessment-tools/odara. Once completed, click on the Download ODARA report button to download the completed report in PDF format (which you must submit along with your essay). Your analysis of risk report should include: 1. Your method (e.g., ODARA analysis of risk scoring sheets), 2. Your database analysis (describe your evidence to substantiate individual factor scores), 3. Your conclusion regarding risk (i.e., the score interpretation graph and risk summary statement). In summary, you are to provide an Analysis of Risk that the officer may use to substantiate a recommendation of BAIL OPPOSED or BAIL WITH/WITHOUT CONDITIONS for Robert Stack. Finally, briefly examine the reliability of the ODARA assessment using peer-reviewed sources (minimum of three) and in your own words explain what the advantages and disadvantages are of using a risk assessment tool like the ODARA. Please attach a completed ODARA with your report. Format to be in APA, 12 font, with cover page. Please note that there is no minimum/maximum length to this assignment. You are graded on the quality and the depth of your discussions[supanova_question]

Write about an event virtually or engage in a multicultural experience in the community with a social group different from your own. An example may be going to a new church, spiritual meeting, sporting event, or cultural festival (see more below). My goal is for you to have meaningful engagement with a social group different from your own. When you attend the event, push yourself to engage with other people who identify with the social group that is different from your own. Through this experience, I expect that you will challenge yourself to explore your own thoughts and reactions to this novel exposure. If it is not clear that the event you have selected is open to the public, then please be in contact with the event organizer prior to the event to receive permission to attend. You may attend the same event or share a multicultural experience with another student in the course, but you are responsible for writing the paper in your own individual words, and your personal reflection on the experience must be your own. Do not collaborate with any other student in this class when writing the paper. INSTRUCTIONS: The first paragraph of your paper should contain a brief summary of the event or experience or the movie. For example, if you were to attend a PFLAG meeting (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays), tell me what the organization is/does, the purpose of the meetings, who attends the meetings, and why you chose this particular experience. This should be in your own words. Do not repeat descriptions from other sources (such as movie reviews; this will count as plagiarism if you do). The next part of your paper should relate one concept/idea discussed in class (or in the class textbook/articles) to the event or interaction or scene/theme in the movie (e.g., types of discrimination, socialization, privilege, identity development, etc.). For example, you can analyze the character’s racial/cultural identity development based on appropriate model(s) addressed in class. Identify which stage the client might be experiencing and explain why it is not any other stage or status. Explain how you are applying the theory or concept to the event/interaction. Bold the theory/concept you are referencing the first time you name it. Also, be sure to define the theory/concept in your own words (and underline the paraphrased definition). You must cite the concept/idea using correct APA style (for example, you should cite the textbook if the concept/idea is discussed in the textbook). The last part of your paper should be your personal reflection of the experience in your own words. Did you learn something new? Were you (un)comfortable during this experience – why or why not? What dynamics did you notice about your interactions with others at the event? What did you learn about yourself during this experience? For this section I do not expect you to reference any sources. If you choose to watch the movie you can discuss, how did this assignment impact on your learning? What aspects of this assignment were challenging? What aspects were helpful? What did you enjoy the most about it? The least? What suggestions do you have for other films? 1.5 page minimum – 2 page MAX, double-spaced, 1 inch margins, 12 point font, Times New Roman. Please use APA style and cite at least one reading for the theory/concept you discuss. This will mean that you also have a third page titled “References” which includes the APA style citation. Each reference also needs to be cited in the text. See https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/ for resources on APA. Do not quote text from your textbook or any other article/resource. Due by 11.59 pm on 3/13/2022. You will submit your paper through iCollege.[supanova_question]

a Final Critical Review Paper for PSY 630 Psychopharmacology class. I have uploaded the first paper which is what the Final paper topic has to be on. These references and some of this topic has to be included in this final paper. This paper is a continued assignment from Week 1 of this class. This paper is due by 3/14/22 by 6pm. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to message me.

The final assignment for this class will be a 10-page critical review of the drug treatment for a neuropsychological disorder. The review will use peer-reviewed and/or scholarly sources to provide an evidence base for the evaluation of current drug treatment modalities for the disorder. The disorder is the same disorder you selected in week 1 and for which you discussed its neurobiology in the Week 1 assignment (topic selection) and its drug management in the Week 2 assignment (drug treatment). Please remember – you will be analyzing the same disorder to complete the Week 6 assignment (comprehensive Critical Review of the same disorder and its management). Reminder – your completed Week 1 and Week 2 assignments will be used as a foundation to help you complete your Week 6 assignment (Critical Review) on the same disorder. Thus, your work in Week 1 and in Week 2 will be used to support your work in Week 6. Utilize the previous references you researched in Week 1 and Week 2, and add any additional peer-reviewed/scholarly references that would support your comprehensive review. These sources should provide evidence-based information to help support your comprehensive analysis, focusing on the aspects described below. Be sure to cite your sources in your paper and include them on your References page. You may utilize required or recommended course materials in your work, but these will not count towards the reference requirements; however, you may cite and reference the American Psychiatric Association’s (2013) DSM-5 as one of your sources used for the grading credit. The paper will be evaluated on the inclusion of the following information. Introduction: Evaluate the disorder in terms of symptomatic and behavioral presentation. Include the time, course, and progression of the disorder. Evaluate and explain special features of the disease epidemiology including risk factors for development of the disorder, lifespan and reproductive factors increasing risk of developing the disorder, and any genetic, environmental, or behavioral factors that increase risk. Theory: Evaluate the predominant theory or theories regarding the biological basis of the disorder. Explain the disorder in terms of pertinent neurotransmitter and receptor theories and use your references to provide an evidence base for these theories. Analyze neurotransmitter system(s) involved in the pathology of the disorder, including a description of: 1) the involved neurotransmitter(s) and receptor(s), 2) regions of the nervous system (brain, spinal cord, or peripheral nervous system) involved with any pathological anatomical changes, and 3) abnormalities of neural circuits and pathways. Include an explanation of how receptor agonists or antagonists would theoretically treat the disorder to reverse the pathology and restore normal function, or why they would be expected to improve symptoms. Treatment: Evaluate drug therapies for treating the disorder based on the current understanding of the biological basis of the disorder. Include a description of the behavioral symptoms and physical signs of the disorder, and identify the drug class(es) used in pharmacological therapy with a discussion of the mechanism of action of the drug class(es). Explain why the pharmacodynamics of the drug class(es) would affect the pathology of the disorder to restore function and/or improve symptoms. Include a discussion of the drug pharmacokinetics for each drug class. Provide examples of available marketed drugs within each class. Describe any drug side effects and/or adverse effects of the drug treatment and their biological basis, including issues related to contraindications, interactions, drug metabolism, and elimination. In addition, explain risks, benefits, and ethical implications for high-risk and exceptional treatment conditions. Conclusion: Summarize theories of neuropsychological disorders as they relate to principles of drug action for that selected disorder. Provide a synopsis of the evidence base that supports or disproves current theories regarding the pathology of the disorder, advantages and disadvantages of current drug treatment(s). Lastly, evaluate any controversies regarding ethical and/or risk-benefit perspectives associated with the current treatment(s). Describe possible areas for future research. The paper: Must be 10 to 12 double-spaced pages in length (not including title and reference pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Writing Center. (Links to an external site.) Must include a separate title page with the following: Title of paper Student’s name Course name and number Instructor’s name Date submitted Must use at least six peer-reviewed and/or scholarly sources to provide an evidence base for your analysis. It is expected that you will use the references researched in Week 1 and Week 2, as well as any additional references you need to provide additional support for your work. You may utilize required or recommended course materials in your work, but these will not count towards the reference requirements; however, you may cite and reference the American Psychiatric Association’s (2013) DSM-5 as one of your sources used for the grading credit. Must document all sources in APA style as outlined in the Writing Center. Must include a separate reference page that is formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Writing Center.[supanova_question]

I need this paper rewritten. I have uploaded the original paper as well as a template for what the paper should look like. Please follow the instructions to make the paper better. Previous writer did not follow the instructions resulting in failing grade.

Instructions:
The Evaluation portion should include the same sections covered in your summary. It should NOT recycle any text from your summary. However, it should incorporate any feedback provided on your summary. For example, if I noted that you incorrectly stated that the authors used a convenience sample in your summary, when they actually used a stratified random sample, your Evaluation of the sampling approach should be based on the stratified random sampling technique they actually used.

In evaluating the Introduction you should look for:
clarity and specificity of the research questions/hypotheses,
sufficient discussion of prior literature and theoretical background,
rationale for the necessity of a new study
In evaluating the Methods you should look for:
adequacy of the study design for answering the research questions or testing the hypotheses,
adequacy of the sampling approach,
quality of measurement and data collection
In evaluating the Results you should look for:
adequacy of data analysis techniques and completeness of the presentation
In evaluating EACH Conclusion you should look for:
threats to internal validity,
likely confounding variables,
plausible alternative explanations of the results
Since this is the most important part of your critique, you should devote more time and space to this section.
In evaluating the Implications you should look for:
threats to external validity,
over-generalizations or recommendations that are not warranted by the results, including in the article’s title and abstract
The final paragraph of the paper should be a section clearly titled “Recommendations to Improve Validity in Future Replications”. In this paragraph you should:

Detail at least two specific changes you would suggest for future replications of this study to improve the INTERNAL validity of the conclusions.
Detail at least one specific change you would suggest for future replications of this study to improve the EXTERNAL validity of the conclusions.
Make sure you are basing these suggestions on your previous Evaluation section within the critique! (e.g., If you identified a maturation effect as a likely threat to internal validity in your critique, explain how you would address it here.)
Do NOT repeat the limitations of the study or suggestions for future research, as listed by the authors. Instead, use your own evaluation of the study, over and above what they have listed as limitations.
Make sure your suggestions are ways to improve their study (i.e., to answer the same research question or test the same hypothesis).[supanova_question]

Psychology Assignment Help A family has contacted you about the care of their grandfather, Juan, who has Alzheimer’s disease. The nursing home staff report that Juan engages in frequent elopement from the nursing home facility when unattended, and verbal aggression that has caused disruptions to the other nursing home residents. A review of the files shows that the nursing home contracted with a BCaBA who did not conduct a functional behavior assessment but advised setting limits, being consistent with rules, and blocking Juan from engaging in problem behavior. The nursing home staff decided to incorporate these strategies by restricting Juan from accessing the courtyard or roaming the halls, leaving him to stay all day in his room with only accompanied walks to therapies and the dining hall. Juan’s behaviors escalated and they have stated they will be ordering the use of chemical restraints to block occurrences of the problem behavior.
For this assignment, complete the following:
Prepare a formal letter to the family with your recommendations.
Analyze, within the letter, at least five BACB ethical code elements that are relevant to your discussed behavior analytic procedure and this scenario.
Provide a recommendation to family members in letter format based on the given scenario.
Competency 3: Evaluate assessment and intervention methods using the BACB ethical code.
Analyze, within the letter, the use of a behavior analytic procedure using at least five relevant BACB ethics codes.

CCMH/525: Research Methods For Mental Health Counselors
Wk 5 – Needs Assessment, Part 1

Assignment Content

Prior to completing this week’s assignment, review Ch. 16, “Program Evaluation,” of your textbook. Refer to p 643 to learn more about conducting a needs assessment.

Your research study proposal will require you to describe the research methods and procedures you intend to use to conduct the study. This section of your proposal will combine information gathered from two items: a needs assessment and a program evaluation. You will begin the needs assessment this week and complete it in Week 6, then write a program evaluation in Week 7.

A needs assessment will help you collect valuable information about any population you are studying.
A program evaluation will use the needs assessment you’ve created to help you formulate a plan for assessing your study proposal.

Using your research topic and/or question and the literature you have collected for your research study proposal, conduct a needs assessment to support your proposal. Follow these steps:

Read existing literature related to the research study proposal you have selected.
Interview at least one specialist in the field. This person(s) should provide relevant and essential information about the topic. Try to get as much information as you can on gaps that exist between available and needed services and resources.
Ask probing questions.
What is the single most pressing need that homeless individuals have in this community? What are other important needs?

Field Assignment Instructions
The purpose of this assignment is for you to extend your knowledge in the course to the real-world to understand how media portrayals of mental illness may differ from the actual psychological disorders you are learning in this course. The main objective of this assignment is that you demonstrate understanding of the psychological disorders in this course by being able to accurately identify the discrepancies between actual disorders and media portrayals. There is often a large difference between the actual progression of mental disorders and how they are portrayed in the media.

For this assignment, I would like you to investigate the difference between the textbook versions of disorders and the media-popular versions of these disorders. Each of you should collect 2 examples of reports of real life behavior from newspapers, magazines, books, television and radio news stations that appear to be caused by psychological disorders.

You are not looking for fictional characters in literature, tv shows, or movies, but rather TWO real persons who are being reported on by the news.

For each example:
1. Note the symptoms identified.
2. Check whether an official diagnosis is reported in the media piece.
3. Discuss what impression of abnormal behavior is created by the report.
4. Discuss whether that impression is consistent with the descriiption of the disorder presented in the textbook.

When submitting the assignment, please include links to the media examples (or attach scans of printed material). You must provide links or scans of your research.

Option 2: Hearing
Spend between from 15- 30 minutes “observing” without using your hearing. Rely on your sight, smell, touch or taste (if appropriate). You can use earplugs or noise cancelling headphones (if you have them) to aid in diminishing your hearing. During this time try to perform several different tasks that you would normally, such as watching television (muted), or walking outside all while not using your hearing.

After your observation time is over, please answer the following questions in 2-3 pages.

Briefly describe how sound travels through the ear to the auditory nerve.
During the activity, what other senses were you using and how did you use them to accomplish your tasks to perceive the world around you?
What information did you pick up on that you may have ignored if you were using your sense of hearing?
Define habituation and sensory adaptation. Provide examples from your observation time of habituation and/or sensory adaptation to support your response.
While this activity was only for a short amount of time, describe how your perception might change if one of your senses was permanently lost.

suffering. Step 2 – Post (15 points) In at least 300 spell-checked and grammatically correct words with numbered paragraphs answer the following questions: 1. This video provides the case study with the diagnostic label of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Describe her symptoms that justify the diagnosis of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: Describe at least 3 obsessions she experiences. Obsessions are repeated thoughts, urges, or mental images that cause anxiety. Describe at least 3 behavior-based compulsive symptoms she experiences. Compulsions are repetitive behaviors that a person with OCD feels the urge to do in response to an obsessive thought. Describe how the symptoms affect her social and occupational functioning, that is, her ability to live her life. Consider a rule out diagnosis, at least one other diagnosis that you would consider as an explanation for these same symptoms. 2. Remembering the chapter reading on Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, consider the etiology of her suffering – to what extent do you think the role of NATURE (her biological inheritance) versus NUTURE (her life experiences) make her more vulnerable to this disorder? (~ a paragraph) 3. Consider the socio-cultural CONTEXT: how might this diagnosis be culturally determined? How does her culture expect her to perform as a new mother – is she supported by her culture in this role or does she seem on her own? Can you imagine her behavior being viewed as “normal” in another culture? To what extent should clinicians consider the social-cultural-historical context when making diagnoses? (~ a paragraph) 4. THROUGHLINE: We all have obsessive thoughts and compulsive behavior – in varying degrees. For example, consider the superstitious routines (Links to an external site.) some baseball players engage in before stepping up to bat as an example of compulsive behavior that is considered normal in our culture. In another example, I always leave my keys in the same tray so I don’t lose them. original position paper as the person on a topic that would be from that person’s social science background

Professor notes:
Sometimes we gain more insight from someone if we can get into their head and see the world through their eyes. This perception of how the person “sees the world” may help you understand life and the world a little bit more.

Find a historical figure from one of the Social Sciences. In each unit you will dive deeper into this person and by the end of Unit 8, you will deliver an original position paper as the person on a topic that would be from that person’s social science background (5-7 pages with references and quotes)

This project is an opportunity for you to be creative and allow you to gain a new understanding of the Social Sciences. It is important to appreciate why the Social Sciences are a major part of our world and of our lives.

The idea of this project is to allow you to be creative and informative at the same time. By selecting someone who represents one of the Social Sciences is designed to help you have a better understanding of what someone from their field does and how they contribute back to their field.

If you are going to choose to do the 15-minute interview video, what you would want to do is select 10-15 questions about the type of work the person does, how they have contributed to their field, and make some predictions in their field based on the research and evidence you have collected during the term.

If you are going to do the 15-minute speech, use the same guidelines as: how they have contributed to their field and this time make some predictions in their field based on the research and evidence you have collected during the term.

If you are going to write the paper, then you will be doing the same thing as the 15-minute speech but on paper. Talk about “your” field and how it has advanced, and make some predictions based on evidence and research on the person.
So each Course Spanning Task that you do should build on each other:

First, you should have selected who you were going to be…
Second, you were to develop an outline on what area you were going to talk about…
Third, you were to provide the references that you will be citing to show the research of the person you selected and some of the information you will be basing your Course Spanning Task on…
Fourth, you were to write a short update on how things are going and if you have come across any issues that need to be addressed…
Fifth, you were to provide a rough draft of your paper, or documents that will help you with your assignment
Finally, you will submit your final project.
This is a great opportunity for you to use your imagination and have a little fun.

By the way… if some of you think this is a silly assignment, I just want to let you know that this assignment comes from fairly new sub-division in the Social Sciences called “Alternative History”. This is not revisionist history but using the combination of “what if?” with research and science. There have been many studies done regarding this sub-division of Social Sciences to include economic disasters and how to recover from them, military planning, political outcomes, social experiments, and even psychological experiments.

Give it a chance… you just might like this assignment.

My notes:
Now I have picked Abraham Maslow and his hierarchy of needs. It is more psychological but is a form of social science. He seems to want it written as if you are Abraham Maslow. I have a previous essay from an interdisciplinary class that can assist in shedding some light on Maslow and his hierarchy of needs just to make things a bit easier that I will attach and I will also attach my professor’s grading rubric. I’m also looking for anywhere between 4-5 sources[supanova_question]

answer the following prompt in detail: some theorists compare the human brain processing of information to a computer model. They claim that the brain is like a computer: our senses are similar to input devices (e.g., a disk, USB); once you enter the information, the computer or our brain processes it in our work memory (short-term memory); and, finally, the computer hardware works like our long-term memory – we save the information and retrieve it when needed. What do you think about this theory? For example, do you support it? Do you think we can compare the human brain to a computer system? Does the theory cover all aspects of information processing in our brain? Does it miss some aspects?[supanova_question]

a research paper that is a systematic replication (see definition of systematic replication in
Kazdin book) of a previous behavioral research study that used a single-subject research
design published within the last five years. You should conduct a systematic replication of
an article that was published in one of the following journals only: (a) Journal of Applied
Behavior Analysis (JABA), (b) Behavioral Interventions, (c) Education and Treatment of
Children, and (d) Behavior Analysis in Practice. The written research paper must follow the
format recommended by the American Psychological Association (see Publication Manual
of the American Psychological Association, 7th edition). The paper should include: (a) a
brief Introduction (i.e., a literature review, justification, and rationale for the experiment), (b)
Method, (c) Results, (d) Discussion, (e) References, and (f) Figure/s (graphs made in
Microsoft Excel). The text of the paper should not exceed 2,500 words. See the “brief
report” or “report” articles published in JABA for an example of a short research paper. The
paper must be a “new” paper (i.e., it has not been turned in elsewhere for another course).
Your study cannot just be an increase in the number of participants or using participants of
different cultural backgrounds, genders, or ages. Studies on the topic of decreasing a
problem behavior will not be approved, as any study on this topic first requires a functional
behavior assessment (FBA) to be completed, and you will not learn about how to conduct
an FBA until you take Psy 617. Something about the procedures needs to change. See the
limitations of the study in the Discussion section of the publication you are extending for
ideas as to what you can do differently from the original article. Your study must use one of
the following single-subject research designs: (1) ABAB, (2) multiple baseline (across
participants, settings, or behaviors), (3) changing criterion, (4) multielement, or (5) a
combination of 1-4.
a. Here are some steps for how to develop your research topic:
i. Get the most recent issue of a journal (e.g., the Journal of Applied Behavior
Analysis)
ii. Look at all the titles to see if anything sounds interesting
iii. Pick an article that sounds interesting
iv. Read the discussion to see if any of their future ideas sounds good or
limitations sound interesting
1. If yes, develop research questions based upon that idea or limitation
(if limitation, replicate the study but fix the limitation)
2. If no, go back to step 2
v. Develop procedures from the article’s Method section.[supanova_question]

Discussion question: What is SPSS and how is it used in the counseling field? What types of research and data can SPSS be used for? Why is SPSS a popular tool for counseling research? Classmate response to discussion question: What is SPSS and how does it apply to counseling? SPSS is also known as Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. Computers have become increasingly important in business, education, and all disciplines of science. This dependency has grown to the point where it is no longer practical to understand social and health science studies without a solid understanding of statistics and at least a basic comprehension of statistical software. SPSS is also a flexible software that provides a wide range of analyses, data transformations, and output formats. In other words, it is more than sufficient for our needs. A variety of SPSS techniques are used majority in processes that are applicable to statistical studies presented in a basic statistics or research technique classes in social and health sciences, natural sciences, or business. SPSS can help better understand the information, it can help test ideas that were previously too difficult to investigate, and it can save a lot of time by reducing the chances of making mistakes in data analysis (Arkkelin, 2014). Your paper should summarize fundamental issues, questions, and controversies and provide a general overview of the topic using the biological line of investigation you chose. It should also elaborate on your understanding of the brain processes that are revealed through imaging research in schizophrenia. To accomplish this, you will have to use recent research articles (published within the last five years) to illustrate relevant points. You may use any of a number of electronic databases to find research articles that deal with your topic, including the library and the Internet. The one requirement for the research articles that you select is that two of them must have appeared in a peer-reviewed scientific journal. You may wish to consult with the library staff or your faculty member to confirm whether a particular journal is peer-reviewed.

Newspaper or magazine articles should not be used as your major reference, but they are sometimes useful when they lead you to the appropriate research article. You should avoid simply repeating the articles in summary form, but rather use them within the text of your paper to illustrate important points. You are welcome to discuss your choice of topic with your faculty member to make sure you are on the right track.

Your paper should be 1,600 words, or about 6 to 8 pages, in length (use the word count as a guide to length and stay within 200 words of the target to avoid penalties). It must be typed, double-spaced, with one-inch margins, and fully referenced in APA format (seehttp://www.apa.org). Please check the course schedule in this syllabus for the due date. The penalty for a late project is ten percent of the score on the project.

You may wish to submit a draft of your complete or near complete paper to the Effective Writing Center (EWC at http://www.umgc.edu/writingcenter/writingresources/faq.cfm ) for review and comment, prior to the due date of the paper. This should be submitted well in advance of the due date, in order for the EWC to respond and for you to make the necessary corrections. Once you receive feedback from the EWC, you can copy and paste it into a Word Document, then post it in your assignment folder with your project paper by the due date, for your instructor to view as necessary. The EWC can help address questions regarding format, structure, writing style, and appropriateness of references.
