Respond to your colleague by providing at least two ways that their strategies may be expanded or improved. NOTE: Positive comment Main Post Treating Childhood Abuse Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners who work with children are mandatory reporters (Child Welfare Information Gateway, 2019). Each state enacts specific statutes that will clarify the guidelines/requirements about reporting suspected child abuse, and it is the obligation of the PMH-NP to know the law in his/her praciting state (Child Welfare Information Gateway, 2019). Assessing for Abuse Sadock, Sadock & Ruiz (2014) identify certain vulnerability factors for PTSD, including the presence of childhood trauma, inadequate support, genetic predisposition to psychiatric illnesses, and recent stressful life changes, all of which the patient in the case study displays. I would keep those facts in mind as I assess any patient for the possibility of abuse/trauma. First and foremost, establishing a therapeutic alliance is paramount; there can be no self-disclosure without trust (Wheeler, 2014). I’m not sure if this is a ?strategy, per se, but it is the foundation of any relationship between the PMH-NP and her clients. As I researched this topic, and I researched for hours because of the gravitas of this topic, I found little conclusive evidence for specific strategies. What I did find was a study from the WHO’s Mental Health Gap Action Programme (2015) that concluded with, ?Evidence supporting the efficacy of strategies for detecting maltreatment of children and youth within the context of mental health and developmental assessment is sparse and inconclusive. No studies have evaluated the performance of measures in predicting referrals and health outcomes. However, it is generally agreed that it is important for health care providers to detect child maltreatment. It is recognised that assessment of child maltreatment requires a clinician who is competent enough to ask the right questions and to respond appropriately’ (p. 17). While this is disheartening, it is also a call to action. Not only do we need to be attentive and alert with our younger patients, it is also clear that we can and should be doing more to establish evidence-based protocols for these situations. With this particular case, considering this is a nineteen year old adult presenting with a history of abuse versus current abuse (at least that has been disclosed thus far), establishing trust and normalizing the feelings of the client will be my priority. Also, I think it’s imperative that we know our limits as clinicians and, while I might feel competent to prescribe medications for this client, I am well aware that bad therapy can worsen trauma for those with PTSD. I used to work closely with our Trauma Stress Center at work and they consistently drove home the importance of shoring up coping skills for these patients before ever delving into the trauma, itself. I think too often some clinicians overestimate their ability to help without taking into consideration the possibility of doing harm. Exposure to Social Media As with most things in life, exposure to social media has both pros and cons, particularly when it comes to mental health/awareness/illness. On the one hand, good information and resources are readily available; however, there is also a glut of bad information. While there does seem to be some evidence that social media can increase depression and/or loneliness (Healthline, 2018) due to the tendency to compare oneself to others, there are other studies which have not reached that same conclusion. Instead, a study by Berryman, Ferguson & Negy (2018) seem to suggest that the way social media is utilized is more important than the mere use of social media. Certainly, at times social media can increase connection with others. Mandatory Reporting As previously referenced, the mandatory reporting requirements vary from state to state (Child Welfare Information Gateway, 2019); however, in the particular case, the client is nineteen years old. In the case of adults, unless this is a elderly adult or adult with disabilities (National Adult Protective Services Association, 2020). If Morgan is not being currently abused and does not have a disability, mandatory reporting is not required. As a side note, per the ANCC IQ practice questions for certification (American Nurses Association, 2020), even if you suspect that an elderly patient is being abused, if that patient is competent, you must respect his/her wishes if they explicitly forbid you from reporting the abuse to anyone. That surprised me but the rationale states, ?The patient is an adult. He has the right to make decisions for himself. Not all states have mandatory elder abuse statutes or mandatory domestic abuse statutes (https://learning.ana-nursingknowledge.org/ d2l/le/content/8482/viewContent/40740/View, 2020). I would obviously double-check with state statutes to clarify state law. References American Nurses Association. (2020). Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification Practice IQ. Assignment 2 Larry Landlord has recently renovated an apartment and has put it on the market to be rented for $800.00 a month. Larry Landlord has been in business for approximately five (5) years and has had both positive and negative experiences with tenants. Larry Landlord is hoping to find a good, long-term tenant for his apartment. Roger Renter saw Larry’s sign for the apartment for rent and thought the location and the apartment would be perfect. Roger met Larry to look at the apartment and Roger fell in love with it. All of the interior fixtures had been replaced and the unit had a nice large closet. Roger noticed that although newly painted, the exterior of the apartment did show a little bit of wear. Because of the condition of the exterior of the building, Roger asked Larry about any roof leaks. Larry stated that he had never had a leak and was not aware of any leaks. Roger and Larry entered into a valid contract for the rental of the apartment. (Note: The issue of whether or not a contract exists is NOT part of this question. For purposes of this question assume the contract is valid and there are no issues with the contract.) Roger Renter was very happy in his new location; the apartment was quiet and the neighbors were friendly. Larry Landlord was also very happy because Roger Renter was a model tenant. Roger Renter paid on time and was quiet and respectful to other tenants. The part of the country where Roger rented was rainy in the summertime. Roger rented and moved into the apartment in October. In June, a tremendous rainstorm occurred and Roger’s roof began to leak. The leak was minor at first and Roger merely put a trash can under the leak and had no other issues that month. When handing over his monthly rent check, Roger told Larry about the small leak. Larry thanked Roger for letting him know about the leak and told Roger he would have it fixed. The next month the rains came again and the leak grew larger in Roger’s apartment. Roger was not home at the time of the rain and therefore the leak damaged some of Roger’s furniture. Roger called Larry to let him know that there was a leak and asked when it might be fixed. Roger also stated that he thought Larry had fixed the roof. Larry curtly stated, ?When it rains, sometimes it pours. When it pours, sometimes it leaks. Roger did not like Larry’s tone or response and called back to ask when the roof might be fixed. Larry stated, ?When I get to it. The following day, Roger sent Larry a note about the roof leak and asked Larry to please address the issue. The week before the rent was due, another rainstorm occurred and the leak was even larger. This time the leak damaged Roger’s clothing, furniture, and some precious items he had inherited from family members. Roger called Larry and asked Larry to fix roof immediately. Larry responded in a similar and condescending manner. Roger hung up the phone and threw his baseball bat against the wall, damaging the drywall and knocking out an electrical socket. Since it was the rainy season, Roger knew it would rain again and therefore simply moved his items away from the leak and did nothing to help mitigate the damage from the leaking roof. Larry came into the apartment to investigate the leak and found damage from not only the leak but also from the thrown baseball bat. Roger states that the baseball bat damage was a direct result of Larry’s inability to fix the leak based on his anger from Larry’s curt response. Suppose you are a mediator. In five to seven (5-7) pages discuss the rights and responsibilities of the landlord and the tenant in which you: 1. Explore the legal rights and responsibilities of the tenant and the landlord. 2. Decide whether or not the landlord and / or the tenant had a legal duty to mitigate damages. 3. Determine whether or not Larry has legal grounds to evict Roger. Explain why or why not. 4. Describe whether or not Roger has a legal obligation to pay for the damage he caused and determine whether or not Larry would be liable for any direct damage. 5. Support each response with facts presented in the scenario. 6. Use proper legal terminology throughout your responses. 7. Cummings “Wild Nights?Wild Nights!” by Emily Dickinson “My Son the Man” by Sharon Olds “My Husband’s Back” by Susan Minot “Legal Alien” by Pat Mora “On Death, without Exaggeration” by Wislawa Szymborska “On the Pulse of Morning” by Maya Angelou “Let America Be America Again” by Langston Hughes “All Along the Watchtower” by Bob Dylan You are welcome, even encouraged, to explore your poem’s background and meaning through research. Some of the poems are explicated (analyzed and developed in detail) on sites such as schmoop.com. Please remember, however: Unique interpretations with strong evidence and explanations are also welcome You will need to cite and provide a Works Cited entry for any ideas you take from other sources, and In your final paper you must state an argumentative thesis based on poetic elements and not just a series of ideas or facts about the poem. 2. Write three “prewriting” paragraphs about the poem you have chosen. Begin each paragraph with a main idea sentence, and use transitions between points so that your reader can easily follow your logic. 1) A brainstorming paragraph that answers these questions: Why were you drawn to this poem? What did you like about it? What thesis about a theme do you see for an essay about this poem? Remember that your thesis is grounded in the literary/poetic elements that support a theme in your poem. You may have more than one idea about a thesis on a theme. Review what a theme and a thesis are in Unit 2. 2) An evidence paragraph that includes the following: Include the poetic elements/terms a New Critic looks for to derive meaning from the structure of a poem. Review these poetic elements/terms in Learning Activities 3.3 and 3.6, and also in this link: Literary Terms . Match the lines or phrases of your poem to the elements you will use and write them together in this paragraph. Use MLA format (backslashes) to write the lines you have matched. 3) A conferencing paragraph in which you ask at least two questions about your ideas and fully explain why you have these questions. Any aspects of the poem (lines not understood, etc.) or essay writing (theme, thesis, structure, etc.) are appropriate.[supanova_question]

1. Assume that there is a population regression model y = ?0 + ?1×1 + ?2×2 + ?3×3 + u and that the model satisfies assumptions MLR1 through MLR5 in the population. Indicate, without explanation, whether the following statements are true or false (each answer is worth 1 point). a. If you take a random sample from the population, and estimate an OLS regression with y as the dependent variable and x1, x2 and x3 as the independent variables, the estimated coefficients of x1, x2 and x3 will be unbiased estimates of ?1 , ?2, and ?3. b. If you take a random sample from the population, and estimate an OLS regression with y as the dependent variable and x1, x2 and x3 as the independent variables, the estimated coefficients of x1, x2 and x3 will be equal to ?1 , ?2, and ?3. c. If you take a random sample from the population, and estimate an OLS regression with y as the dependent variable and x1, x2 and x3 as the independent variables, the estimated coefficients of x1, x2 and x3 will be statistically significant. d. If you take two random samples from the same population, and use each of the samples to ^ estimate the population model using OLS, you will get the same ? estimates from each regression. ^ e. If ?1 is a positive number, then ?1 (the OLS estimate of ?1 that you would see on the Stata output after estimating a regression) may be a positive or a negative number. 2. Provide a short answer (one to three sentences) to each of the following questions. (It will sometimes help to think about the meaning and implications of the MLR assumptions for the properties of the OLS estimators, that is, whether the estimated ? coefficients are unbiased, how efficient they are, and whether the OLS standard errors are biased or unbiased.) Each part is worth 3 points. a. Suppose you have a sample that tells you the life expectancy of a 60 year old male in each of the 50 states. It also tells you the average amount of education completed and the average level of income for people over 60 in that state. You are interested in using regression analysis to estimate the effect of education on life expectancy. Is it a good idea to also include the variable measuring average income in this regression? Discuss the costs and/or benefits of doing so. b. Consider the following population regression model that determines the score on a standardized test for elementary school children score = ?0 + ?1classiz + ?2faminc + u where classiz is the size of the student’s class and faminc is annual income of the student’s family. The expected value of u is the same across all levels of class size and family income, but the variance of u is different for different classrooms. Does this cause the OLS estimators for the ? coefficients to be biased? Explain. c. Consider the regression model Where cigs is daily cigarette consumption for an individual, price is price per pack of cigarettes in the local area, and income is the individual’s annual income. Suppose we have a random sample of 500 people. For the purposes of estimating ?1, would it be better if there was a lot of correlation in the sample between price and income, or only a little correlation? d. Consider the population model estimated for the previous homework assignment: lpfries = ?0 + ?1prpblck + ?2lincome + ?3prppov + u where lpfries is the log of the price of a small order of fries, prpblck proportion of people living in the restaurant’s zip code who are black, lincome is the log of median income in the zip code, and prppov is the proportion of people living in the restaurant’s zip code who are below the poverty line. Obviously, lincome and prpov are highly correlated with one another. Does this violate one of the MLR assumptions? 3. Use the data in APPLE.DTA to answer this question. These are experimental data in the sense that each family was offered a price pair (ecoprci, regprci), which are prices per pound of (hypothetical) “ecologically friendly” apples and regular apples, respectively. They then reported how many pounds of each apple they would buy at the given prices. The variable reglbs measured the reported demand for regular apples, and the variable ecolbs measured the reported demand for ecologically friendly apples. (Each part is worth 3 points) a. Which is larger: the proportion of families reporting that they would buy no regular apples, or the proportion of families reporting that they would buy no eco-friendly apples? (use the Stata commands tab reglbs and tab ecolbs) . b. Estimate the simple regression of ecolbs on ecoprc. Interpret the coefficient on ecoprc. c. In the simple regression just estimated, test whether the estimated coefficient of ecoprc is statistically significant at the 1% level when the null hypothesis is ?ecoprc ? 0. d. Now add regprc and faminc to the regression. Conduct the hypothesis test from part c again. e. Interpret the coefficient of regprc. Does the sign of the coefficient make sense in term of economic theory? f. Now estimate the regression reg ecolbs ecoprc regprc faminc numgt64 num18_64 num5_17 numlt5 hhsize Stata drops one of the variables. Which one, and why? 4. Use the data in ELEM94-95 to answer this question. Each observation in this sample is a Michigan elementary school. The dependent variable is lavgsal , which is the log of the average teacher salary in the school, and bs is the ratio of the value of fringe benefits to the value of salary for teachers in the school. (Each part is worth 3 points) a. Find the average value of bs in the sample and explain in words what it means. b. Run the simple regression of lavgsal on bs. Is the estimated coefficient of bs statistically different from zero at the 5% significance level? Is it statistically different from -1 at the 5% significance level? Justify your answers. (Hint: One way to do the second test is with the stata test command, test bs==-1 ). c. Add the variables lenrol (the log of the number of students at the school) and lstaff (the log of the number of teachers and other adults working at the school) to the regression from (b). Find the p-value for H0: ?bs = -1 against a two sided alternative. What do you conclude about H0 now? d. Why is the standard error on the bs coefficient actually smaller in the part (c) than in the part (b) regression? (Hint: what happens to the estimate of ? – in Stata called the “root mean squared error” – when lenrol and lstaff are added?) Now estimate a regression in which math4 is the dependent variable, and lunch, lavgsal, and lenrol are the independent variables. math4 is the percentage of the school’s fourth graders who passed their math proficiency test, while lunch is the percentage of the school’s students who come from low income families, as measured by their eligibility for free or reduced price lunch at school. e. Interpret the coefficient on lunch. Is it statistically significant? In your opinion, is it large in magnitude? Explain your answer. (It might help to look at the summary statistics for math4 and lunch) f. The coefficient on lavgsal is not statistically significant at the 5% level. Assuming that assumptions MLR.1 through MLR.5 are satisfied for this regression, does this allow us to conclude with 95% confidence that raising teacher salaries would have no effect on the math scores of fourth graders? Explain.[supanova_question]

She had started drinking alcohol to help her sleep at night. One morning she was driving to work and feeling the effects of a hangover from the night before. She was not concentrating on the road, and ran into the back of a car that had stopped in front of her. Luckily, none of the people involved in the accident was seriously injured. This incident served as a wake up call for Aaliyah, and she decided to get help for her problems. However, because she is now using both amphetamines and alcohol, she is not sure what treatment program to enter. Aaliyah would like to help other people avoid the troubles caused by drugs. She would like to give a presentation at her college to discuss her experiences and give students several prevention options, as well as ways to tell if their friends or loved ones have a drug problem. Identify and describe two prevention strategies. Explain ways of determining whether loved ones have a problem with drugs using the current DSM characteristics of substance use disorders. Indicate the page numbers you’ve outlined in the subject line of your post. I’ve posted an example of what the teacher expects. You have to use this format and Quick Note: You will notice that the textbook assigned to this class uses Wikipedia as a resource. However, I want to point out that you should not use Wikipedia as a source for your coursework. Here’s an article discussing the limitations of Wikipedia. http://www.findingdulcinea.com/news/education/2010/march/The-Top-10-Reasons-Students-Cannot-Cite-or-Rely-on-Wikipedia.html Example: Science in the Social Sciences The textbook begins with a quote from Albert Einstein: ?Science is the attempt to make the chaotic diversity of our sense-experience correspond to a logically uniform system of thought (p. 5). – Truth is not created. It is discovered. Science is an organized attempt to discover truth. The book clarifies the 3 main categories of science: 1) Natural: study of natural phenomena (cosmological, geological, chemical, biological, etc.) 2) Formal: study of math and logic that use an a priori, rather than factual, methodology (basically, a priori is knowledge that we have and can apply , rather than needing to measure something to gain knowledge about it) 3) Social: study of human behavior and sciences Einstein was a theoretical physicist; this falls under formal sciences. He did not like things that were unpredictable an he was bothered by chaos. He tried to find ways to predict the unpredictable. In this class: We are interested in social sciences, and in particular how that knowledge can be applied to help systems of all sizes. Human services apply methods and findings from social science to improve the lives of people (individuals, groups – such as families, and larger social context – communities). At the same time, all sciences have a lot in common. The textbook discusses the example of chaos theory. Chaos theory is a branch of mathematics (which is a science itself). Chaos theory deals with conditions where prediction is not possible. – Chaotic diversity describes things on the quantum level and the human condition – Chaos theory has implications when working with people; this was recently realized – Human Services dislike chaos; we want to explain, possibly predict, and prevent human misery * We can take another look at Einstein’s quote: ?Science is the attempt to make the chaotic diversity of our sense-experience correspond to a logically uniform system of thought (p. 5). He is telling us: – we have a rich and imaginative sensory capacity that provides us with a vast way of experiencing and interpreting our world – at the same time (from an evolutionary standpoint) our sensory capacity is built for survival in the heat of the moment, rather than cool calculation of empirical analysis – Things like intuition and instinct are useful, but we can add science to our toolbox. Through science, we can explore our world in a way to test our assumption and theories. Science helps us increase our rational understanding of the world. Who talks more? Knowledge through theories/assumptions vs Knowledge through Science Many people believe that women tend to talk more than men. – Some have suggested the difference has a biological basis – One estimated that’s often cited is that women spoke 20,000 words p/day and men spoke 7,000 words p/day. – The claim seemed plausible, and a group of psychologists decided to find out if it was true. What did they do? 1) Checked the literature to see if anyone had actually counted (no one had). Instead, they just found theories and assumptions that were often based on cultural stereotypes 2) Conducted a research study with 369 men and women. They concluded men and women speak roughly the same amount. * This study is used as an example to show that research can show us that sometimes what we think is true, really isn’t. * Why is this important in the field of Human Services? – Because what we believe about people, and how they behave, is fundamental to effectively work with clients. What we believe can sometimes be wrong, inaccurate, or incomplete. – We should keep in mind as professionals, whenever possible, to act according to the best information that we have on hand. This means we need to be informed as to what science has empirically indicated. Understanding Science Science and Human Services Human Services is a profession, rather than a science. It draws on our profession’s research, as well as the research of colleagues in other disciplines such as social work, anthropology, sociology, education, etc. So, Human Services is interdisciplinary. – Some disciplines are considered social science (like psychology) and some are considered professions (like Human Services) – We are all engaged in research to find the best methods for helping the human condition – Human Service professionals engage in the research process; human services practice should be based on empirical research whenever possible. Empirically Based Research This is considered a best practice, and Human Service practitioners should try to only use techniques, methods, and approaches that are empirically derived. Empirically based practice means using quality research from peer reviewed sources in your professional practice. How? – professional journals – online databases – continuing education – assessing the results of your practice in an ethical way The Emergence of Science and the Scientific Method The scientific method is ?a method or procedure that has characterized natural science since the 17th century, consisting in systematic observation, measurement, and experiment, and the formulation, testing, and modification of hypotheses. (according to Oxford Dictionaries Online) – The method has expanded from the natural sciences into social sciences to include disciplines such as anthropology, sociology, psychology, social work, and Human Services. A few important people in the emergence of science. Throughout history, people have struggled to make this unpredictable and sometimes dangerous place more tolerable and predictable. – Francis Bacon (1561 – 1626): considered first person to conceptualize scientific method – Galileo (1564 – 1642) – Copernicus (1473 – 1543) – Plato, Socrates, and Aristotle – Knowledge has been gained slowly, but it accumulates over the years. – The scientific method was just one innovation, but it forms the foundation for all modern research. We have a legal, moral, and ethical responsibility to our profession, ourselves, society, and our clients to use science. * while not all Human Service practitioners are engages in research, all practitioners are consumers of research in their personal and professional lives. What are the Modern Features of Science? 1) Systematic Empiricism 2) Scientific Approach 3) Public Knowledge 1) Systematic Empiricism: learning based on observation. – Scientists learn about the world by carefully planning observations, making observations, recording observations, and analyzing those observations – A lot of what we know (which may or may not be true) is acquired haphazardly – Within science, logical reasoning and creativity play important roles. Scientists are unique in their insistence on checking ideas about the way the world seems to be. – Instead of knowledge through tradition, superstition, guessing, etc., science uses systematic observation to gain knowledge. Look at the ?Who Talks More example; the researchers did not trust other people’s stereotypes or their own informal observations. Instead, they systematically recorded, counted, and compared the number of words spoken by a large sample of women and men. Summary The textbook discusses the concept of science and how it relates to Human Services. Through discussion and examples, the important role that research plays in Human Services is addressed. Human Service professionals need to understand and utilize research and its scientific principles in order to effectively do their job, and not rely on informal observations, guessing, traditions, etc. for knowledge when working with clients. While Human Service practitioners may not conduct research, it’s crucial to understand how scientific research fits into practice. In my past work experiences, I have used the research of others, as well as conducted my own research, and so I’ve found what is said on these pages to be very true. To better comprehend situations and provide the best services, practitioners need to be able to understand and utilize the concepts of social research.[supanova_question]

Proposal

Proposal. Writing Assignment: Research Proposal Letter For this assignment, you will write your research proposal letter. You are required to submit only your final draft for this assignment (though we encourage all students to take advantage of the additional feedback a draft can provide). Use the grader?s feedback and the rubric to make revisions to your draft before submitting the final. Your second draft will be graded. This research proposal letter will be directed to an audience who can create change (Congressperson, business administrators, or other similar audience.) In the proposal, you need to suggest a change or a solution to a current problem. As you have already chosen a topic for your research proposal letter in Topic 6 and conducted an interview that will become one of your sources for this letter, you do not need to choose a topic. You must use the same topic that you began researching in Topic 6, and you must use your interview as a source. Your research proposal should be presented in a letter format including the following information: ? Your mailing address (Note: For privacy reasons, you may opt to not disclose your mailing address when you submit your letter to our graders for review; however, should you choose to mail your letter to your chosen recipient, you will need to include your mailing address, as this is a customary business letter practice.) Note that a formal letter does not require your name in the header. Your name will go at the end, with your closing. ? The date you wrote the letter ? A name and mailing address for the individual to whom you are writing the letter ? A greeting or salutation ? A closing and your typed name (Note: A written signature is optional for your submission, but should you choose to send your letter, you would need to include your written signature between the closing and your typed name.) To organize this information, follow the format included in the course site in the ?Assignments? area. For your proposal, follow this organizational framework: For your researched proposal, follow this organizational framework: ? Introduction: The Problem Identify the problem, including researched information to explain it fully. You may devote more than one paragraph to describe the problem if needed. To determine the extent of the information you must provide about the problem, consider the letter recipient?s understanding of the problem. ? Body: Your Proposal Explain the specifics of your proposal. What are your solutions to solve this problem, step by step? What is the cost? How is this cost incurred? What ideas do you have for funding your proposal? Justify your proposal. How will your proposal solve the problem? Why is this proposal feasible? Concede or refute the counterarguments: Will the letter recipient have certain preconceived ideas about the subject? How can you address these counterarguments without diminishing your argument? Note: You will lose points from the rubric if you do not address the counterargument. ? Conclusion: Your Argument Take into consideration your chosen audience and his/her interests. Use persuasive techniques to align your proposal to the audience?s ideals. You may use more than one concluding paragraph if needed. See the end of this document for more specific information about formatting your letter appropriately. You are required to use source information, including ideas you learned from the interview process wherever it will prove your point. In addition to the interview itself, you should have at least two other credible sources, for a total of at least three sources. Note: If you do not meet the source minimum, the rubric will automatically be scored down. Since this is a letter, you will use signal phrases (i.e., ?As Fugle describes…?) and omit parenthetical citations (?Fugle?). You must include a Works Cited page for this assignment. Good, informative signal phrases will be important in order to make sure your sources are credited (example: ?Fugle, a well-known environmental researcher, explains the problem by…?). As with all college writing, you must include a strong thesis statement and take care to avoid logical fallacies while following the other standards for academic writing. You might use this as a guideline in crafting your thesis: Valley City should (add solution suggestion), which (add how it can be funded) and (add justification), although (add counterargument focus). Here is a more specific example: Valley City should (use its largest abandoned warehouse for a new recreational center to hold before and after-school programs), which (can be conveniently funded by the tax stream that was being used to construct Main Street until this point), and will (provide the final element?housing?in order for local schools to also implement a before-school program(, and although (some community members do not believe before- and after-school programs are necessary(, they should (review the high number of students apprehended by law enforcement during the hours before and after-school programs would operate). The guidelines for this assignment are as follows: Length: This assignment should be at least 500 words. Format: ? This assignment has a special format (letter style), so you will not use a typical header ? Single-spacing, with a double-space between paragraphs (see below) ? Standard 12 point font (Arial, TimesNewRoman, Calibri) ? 1? margins on all sides ? Save the file using one of the following extensions: .docx, .doc, .rtf, or .txt Since this is a formal letter format, you will not underline your thesis statement.

Comparison of Pride and Prejudice with Sense and Sensibility english essay help

The poem “Pied Magnificence” was written by Hopkins in 1877 and the “Ode to Autumn” was penned down by Keats in 1820. These poems admire all of the features and variety of Nature positively resulting in the reward of God. In Pied Magnificence, this reward of the Creator is vivid and obvious because the poet magnanimously asserts: “He fathers-forth whose magnificence is previous change: Reward him.”

Nevertheless, in Ode to Autumn the reward is subtly highlighted by way of the outline of exuberant bounties of Autumn. The overarching theme of “magnificence past look” is witnessed in each the poetic works talked about above. In “Pied Magnificence” this theme encapsulates the concept that perfection of issues lies behind their look. The poet accentuates the truth that the spirit and vitality past the looks is to be appreciated. Thereby, a metaphysical streak echoes all through, emphasizing the true essence of the phrase, “magnificence”. Equally, this theme is noticed in “Ode to Autumn” connoting that the season Autumn has its personal magnificence like different seasons. Usually, Autumn is related to outdated age or the top of life however Keats has creatively portrayed it as a season of “mellow fruitfulness”, thus, denoting the great thing about Autumn afar from its look. He has artistically projected an implied that means to the poem by illustrating that autumn is the time of life the place every little thing finally results in its completion or to have acquired the last word motive of life. The crux of Ode to Autumn is to represent the uncertainties of life the Universe is so inclined. Nevertheless, in Pied Magnificence, a synonymous thought is introduced within the delicate descriptions of Nature that juxtapose the opposites to underline the notion that life is unpredictable , non-static and filled with ambiguities. Hopkins asserts: “And all of the trades, their gear &deal with &trim. No matter is ficke, freckled,(who is aware of how?) With swift, sluggish; candy, bitter;adazzle, dim; He fathers-forth whose magnificence is previous change” Right here, the poet stresses on the varied nature of the life on Universe that every little thing is in a flux. The one factor fixed is change and subsequently, in Ode to Autumn we discover that autumn has arrived and we should always admire the varied shades of Nature it affords as a result of they’re momentary. Consequently, the sweetness and speciality of every little thing current needs to be appreciated. It’s as a result of each atom and molecule on earth items us with some that means and objective in life. One other eminent theme is of “Nature”. In “Pied Magnificence” quite a few features of Nature are delineated utilizing compound phrases. Hopkins appreciates that “Glory be to God for dappled issues”, “skies of couple-colours” the “rose-moles” on the trout, the “Recent-firecoal chestnut-falls; finches’ wings” and likewise the “Panorama plotted and pieced -fold,fallow &plough”. The poet is praisng God for every little thing that he has created and likewise for the chic energies that Nature encapsulates past its bodily look. Moreover, this theme of Nature can also be evident in “Ode to Autumn”. This ode is pregnant with admiration for various actions that happen in autumn. Keats enumerates that it’s a “season of mists and mellow fruitfulness”, “load and bless with fruits the vines that around the thatch-eves run”, “fill all fruits with ripeness to the core”, “swell the gourd and plump the hazel shells with candy kernel”,”barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day”, “lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn” and the “Hedge-cricket sing”. All these descriptions stimulate our senses and lend a phenomenal cinematographic ingredient to the poem. Analogous to Hopkins, Keats additionally implies the stylistic system of compound phrases. Nevertheless, the distinction lies in the truth that Keats makes use of compound phrases to make his poetry sensual whereas, Hopkins employs compound phrases to offer various things a set form and sample. That is known as instress and inscape method that Hopkins makes use of. For instance, he says “For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow”. Right here he’s characterizing the sky’s color and accentuating the inter relation and concord of Nature. Just like the brinded cow the sky can also be noticed and patchy because the blue sky and white clouds are “coupled” collectively. The artistic amalgamation of sky with creations on earth displays the poet’s love of nature to a commendable diploma. Quite the opposite, Keats makes use of compound phrases to offer a corporeal impact. For example, he calls autum the “bosom-friend of the maturing Solar” and likewise he asserts “half-reap’d furrow”, “bloom the soft-dying day” and “full-grown lambs”. All these examples stir the senses. Animal and chicken imagery have additionally been integrated in these poems. Hopkins makes use of the picture of the “brinded cow” to make the color and sample of the sky tangible, and likewise makes use of the picture of a trout with rose-moles and the finches’ wings to indicate the range and variety of Nature. Nonetheless, Keats makes use of the pictures of the “swallow” singing, “lambs” bleating , “hedge-cricket” singing and the red-breast,”garden-crofet” whistling to point that autumn has a life and exercise of its personal which have to be appreciated as an alternative ready for different seasons to come back. Alliteration within the “Pied Magnificence” is used to intensify the auditory impact of the poem. It’s stated about Hopkins that “his poetry shouldn’t be learn with eyes however ears” (Bridges). The alliteartion used within the compound phrase “couple-clouds” empahsizes on making the sky tangible whereas “Recent-firecoal” denotes a paradox to reinforce the color of the chestnut that’s falling off the tree and “fold, fallow” these descriptions of the panorama counsel the multiplicity of lands created by God. However, in “Ode to Autumn” the alliterations “winnowing wind”, “dying day” and “lambs loud” all of those are stressing upon the actions that happen in autumn. Thus, signifying that autumn can also be vigorous and isn’t concerning the finish of life somewhat it broadcasts a brand new joyful starting that follows. Nonetheless, aside from just a few stylistic contrasts, each poets share a typical pure floor of concepts, that’s , the love and intense adulation of nature. The imagery that these poets make use of is far-fetched and typical of the Romantic faculty of thought.

African American Males and Disparity in the Justice System essay help fairfax

Inside our justice system there’s a giant disparity between the whole variety of African American males residing inside our society and residing inside our jail partitions. African People males are sometimes confronted with overcoming environmental, financial and sociological inequalities whereas rising up in addition to an absence of alternative. Many of those points could actually result in un-proportional numbers of African American males being incarcerated. In further prejudicial behaviors by the judicial neighborhood can also be an element within the disproportionate incarceration statistics. Extra assets ought to be allotted on the neighborhood degree to offer for drawback minorities to achieve life and keep away from collaborating in felony actions, in addition to offering assets for schooling of these throughout the system to fight prejudice and impact change. In keeping with the Nationwide Affiliation for the Development of Coloured Folks (NAACP) African People comprise almost 1 million of the two. three million incarcerated inhabitants and 1 in 6 black males have been incarcerated as of 2001. As could be seen these numbers are disproportionately larger then for his or her white counterparts. One of many most important causes said by the NAACP as a causal issue for this disparity is expounded to inside metropolis crime charges which can be prompted by social and financial isolation. There may be little alternative for employment and excessive drop charges amongst inside metropolis African American males. A research by the American Academy of Arts and Sciences signifies that employment for below educated African American males was roughly 25% whereas the incarceration quantity is round 40% exhibiting that they’re extra more likely to be incarcerated then employed.

When prisoners are then launched there may be enhance recidivism when there isn’t a employment alternatives and the cycle repeats. As well as the household construction suffers as assets are decreased as members of the family are imprisoned. Research have proven that youngsters who mother and father are imprisoned usually tend to be victims or crime themselves, have little academic alternative and incessantly reside in poverty, all which result in elevated propensity for felony exercise sooner or later. Lack of alternative is forefront within the disparity between whites and African American ranges of incarceration. The e-book The system in black and white: Exploring the Connections Between Race, Crime and Justice states that “Minority youths are sometimes from neighborhoods affected by poverty, excessive unemployment and underemployment, household dysfunction, low schooling, and crime. The minority youth is subsequently, marginalized, and such marginalization engenders delinquent acts” (Jones-Brown, Markowitz, 2001. p172). By segregating minorities, primarily African People, into these areas with out offering alternative we perpetuate the issue by offering little to no alternatives for reliable success. The authors point out that the shortage of entry to social and financial alternatives and the attainment of socially desired symbols of success immediately leads a person to acquire these objects by socially unacceptable means comparable to felony actions. This common theme of the implications of segregated communities is shared by Loury in his work Race, Incarceration and American Values. “Closed and bounded social structures-like racially homogenous city ghettos-create contexts the place ‘pathological’ and ‘dysfunctional’ cultural varieties emerge, however these varieties are neither intrinsic to the individuals caught within the buildings nor unbiased of the conduct of the individuals who stand outdoors them”. (Loury, 2008. p 33. ) On this case the writer is clearly declaring that it’s the scenario that creates the felony not any overt distinction within the people themselves. There is no such thing as a born propensity for felony exercise only a lack of social and environmental assets out there to people residing in these areas to permit for fulfillment based mostly on achievement. These areas have developed as an unsightly reminder of our one time overtly prejudicial society that deemed African People as inferior, lazy beings with little or no capability to study. The trail to collaborating in felony actions for a lot of African American adolescent males incessantly lies in participation in gang actions. In an article entitled Poverty, Damaged Properties, Violence: The Making of a Gang Member the authors state a robust correlation between the shortage of alternative and gang involvement. Danger components embody many which can be prevalent within the earlier than talked about ghetto like areas comparable to “having gang members within the household already, histories of sexual or bodily abuse, rising up in poverty, gaining access to weapons and medicines, and an absence of success in different areas of life, comparable to faculty” (Mueller, 2014). Gangs incessantly kind a surrogate household for adolescents in poverty stricken city areas in addition to offering a sure degree of safety from different felony parts. One other impediment which African American males face is one among negatively differential therapy throughout the justice system. It’s assumed that a part of the explanation for the disparity between whites and African People throughout the jail methods is expounded to the conflict on medicine. In keeping with the NAACP African American are 12% of the inhabitants of drug customers, 38% of these arrested and 59% of these convicted. These overwhelming numbers of convictions would lead us to consider that African American are committing extra drug crimes but the share of drug customers is definitely decrease then their white counterparts. Sentences for African People convicted of drug crimes are nearly equal to the period of time that white males would spend in jail for violent crimes. In keeping with writer of the New Jim Crow this inequality within the justice system is a option to preserve minorities from achievement whereas showing to have put apart prejudice. It may be argued that our jail system actually serves the aim of a car for social management. The long-term results of conviction separate felons from the final inhabitants for all times, excluding them from contributing successfully in mainstream society. As soon as they’re launched, they’re typically denied the proper to vote, excluded from juries, and relegated to a racially segregated and subordinated existence. By an online of legal guidelines, rules, and casual guidelines, all of that are powerfully bolstered by social stigma, they’re confined to the margins of mainstream society and denied entry to the mainstream economic system. They’re legally denied the power to acquire employment, housing, and public advantages—a lot as African People had been as soon as pressured right into a segregated, second-class citizenship within the Jim Crow period (Alexander, M. 2010). One other points associated to the disproportionate numbers of African American males throughout the jail system are associated to earlier acts. Once more we should look to the shortage of alternative in youth as a number one trigger for juvenile detainment. In keeping with the Juvenile Justice data trade socioeconomic class performs a job in detainment. In delinquency issues indigent youngsters stay throughout the system as a result of the courts are reluctant to launch these youngsters again to the environments they got here from versus youngsters with means. “The kid welfare system, public colleges, and neighborhood police presence — are structured in order that few significant distinctions could be made between poor youngsters and people who current a real hazard to the neighborhood” (Birkhead, 2012). The affect of early interactions with the justice system can negatively affect an individual for all times. As adults individuals who’re recognized throughout the felony justice system usually tend to be convicted of crimes in addition to dealing with harsher sentencing as repeat offenders. This apply could not seem prejudicial as it’s applicable to face harsher sentences for repeat offenders, however is prejudicial as to how the individual turned a repeat offender within the first place. The above points level to discrimination at a structural degree not a person one, however there are structural instances of discrimination which will help particular person discrimination such on the Cease and Frisk legislation. This legislation permits officers to cease, query and bodily frisk somebody they deem suspicious. One of many most important problematic problems with this apply is one among oversight; there aren’t any governing guidelines as to what constitutes suspicion moreover particular person officers emotions. Whereas this apply has led to some arrests, they’re numerically insignificant and have been deemed unconstitutional however not unlawful. In keeping with the American Civil Liberties Union 85 p.c of these stopped had been discovered to haven’t dedicated against the law or have any contraband on their individuals. The failure of this apply has far reaching implications as in it has served to foster emotions of distrust between cops and the minority inhabitants, particularly African American youths. Figuring out points and making modifications to therapy of African American males, or every other minority, throughout the judicial system is a undertaking undertaken by the Sentencing Mission. They outline Illegitimate or unwarranted racial disparity because the “dissimilar therapy of equally located individuals based mostly on race” (201, p1. ). There objective is to acknowledge the consequences of disparity constructing at every section throughout the felony justice system and it’s cumulative results on a person. They encourage communication throughout the system i. e. : legislation enforcement, legal professionals, judges, jail personnel and parole staff to develop plans to reform people whereas working in the direction of a scientific change. By analysis they’ve addressed the necessity for cultural competency coaching throughout the judicial system and have made it a requirement. In addition they tackle points pertaining to therapy of early delinquency, severity of crime in addition to severity of sentencing. The Mission allocates assets for analysis into different sentencing alternate options which have demonstrated success over incarceration. Huck Finn and Social Justice english essay help

Huc  Chenxing Ouyang three/20/2013 American Lit-Social Justice & Huck Finn “Individuals looking for a motive on this narrative might be prosecuted; individuals looking for an ethical in it is going to be banished; individuals looking for a plot in it is going to be shot. ” This discover originally is controversial; some individuals say that it’s a warning that was written for readers on the time when slavery was a delicate concern to speak about, whereas others interpret it as a satirical remark about the way in which literature is scrutinized to search out means and morals in a guide. However I imagine what Mark Twain is making an attempt to say is: “Don’t attempt to analyze the guide, simply learn it for enjoyable, no stress! “ Within the guide  The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn  by Mark Twain, the approach to life  of the Southerners within the mid-1800s are depicted by the eyes of a 13 years outdated boy Huck Finn residing alongside the Mississippi River. It’s a guide in regards to the seek for freedom. Principal characters within the film search freedom from social and ethical constraints. All through novel, Huck learns to observe his personal morals and values over what society deemed to be acceptable within the 1800 s. He finally achieved what he needs the most-freedom. In Twain’s opinion, it’s the “closed mindsets about slavery of the society prohibited the event of private morality and social justice. ”    Some of the necessary points introduced on this guide is slavery. The prevalence of whites was one of many causes of slavery. On the time when Mark twain was grown up, White males had been born with privilege and superiority whereas blacks had been doomed to be slaves. In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Papa says to Huck: “You are educated; too, they are saying; can learn and write.

You assume you are higher’n your father, now, don’t you, as a result of he can’t? I’ll take it out of you”. When Papa finds out that Huck is being despatched to high school by Ms. Watson and educated, he’s intimidated by the truth that his son, is being civilized and going to be a greater particular person than he’s. A way of insecurity is developed and Papa instantly sees Huck as a risk to his inherited privileges. This insecurity symbolized the whites’ worry of shedding dominance over black individuals. In Papa’s thoughts, Huck is his property; it’s a bit unusual for us to assume that somebody is definitely “owned” by another person, however at a time when slavery is tolerated publicly and has been practiced for a whole bunch of 12 months, it’s fairly regular for individuals to dismiss the thought of individuality and private freedom. The act of taking cash away from Huck to purchase drinks simply because Huck is his “property” implicates the southern custom of whites forcing slaves to work on cotton fields to be able to make cash. Additionally, Papa saves his satisfaction by kidnapping Huck from Ms. Watson with out contemplating Huck’s willingness of doing so symbolized the privilege of whites dominating blacks within the outdated instances. Hypocrisy performs one other main position within the guide. Mark Twain presents the hypocrisy of Southern society by the feuds between the Shepredsons and Grangerford. Huck observes that “He hadn’t seen no home out within the nation earlier than that had a lot type” when he first involves the household. The flamboyant home the place the Grangerfolds dwell exhibits the notations of aristocracy, on this home “there are lovely curtains on the home windows, white with photos painted of castles. ” The curtains painted with castles give the household a way of superiority over different villagers. These minor particulars make them assume that they’re above everybody else. Together with the false aristocracy the Grangerfords additionally possess a false data of teachers. When Buck is requested to spell Huck’s identify, the boy spells “GeorgeJaxon” as an alternative of “Jackson”, he misspells it. Buck mentions earlier that he went to high school however he’s not as educated as he although he’s. It’s pretentious for the household to think about themselves as extremely educated higher classmen when their son can’t spell appropriately. In addition to being pretentious and falsely aristocratic, the Grangerfords are also very spiritual. On Sunday each households attend church. When Huck goes in with the household he notices that in each the feuding households, “the lads take their weapons alongside” to church and discuss how the sermon was “all about concord” after church. They slaughter one another brutally for the remainder of the day but they assume they’re good and God loving. Morality is one other necessary theme within the guide, Twain wrote Huck’s character as an example the altering values of morality and ethics in society. Huck is a spherical character, he begins out an harmless baby who expects nothing from life however freedom, then regularly grows up and learns to observe his personal morals and values over what societies deemed to be acceptable. For instance, in Charpter 31, Huck says: “All proper then, I’ll go to hell! He decides to avoid wasting Jim out of slavery in opposition to all odds. Though Huck was tempted to jot down a letter to Ms. Watson, informing her of Jim’s location, he follows his personal ethical worth and decides to avoid wasting Jim. This act exhibits that Huck has developed the maturity to just accept penalties akin to going to hell for his willingness to avoid wasting Jim to be able to observe his personal worth and fulfill his personal ethical normal. Early within the novel, Huck feels responsible of aiding a runaway slave escape from the nice Christian girls, however his racial discrimination in opposition to Jim lessens because the novel progresses. Their relationship displays the battle between the racist setting that Huck grows up in and their wants for one another. Ultimately the battle resolves itself when Huck realized that “Simply since you’re taught that one thing’s proper and everybody believes it’s proper, it don’t make it proper”. This quote exhibits that racism has been infused into Huck’s life and Jim’s phrases present that despite the fact that he’s uneducated like different slaves, he has the flexibility to miss Huck’s racism. Twain brings out these concepts and ideas with the power of a kid’s ethical compass elegantly. President Barack Obama stated in his inaugural speech: “now we have at all times understood that when instances change, so should we; that constancy to our founding ideas requires new responses to new challenges; that preserving our particular person freedoms finally requires collective motion. ” He factors out the significance of discovering our personal ethical and ethic ideas in order that we’re able to going through new challenges the society presents to us. Within the Adventures of Huckleberry Berry Finn, Mark Twain factors out the the identical factor. Huck is in ethical battle with the values and moralities of the society wherein he lives. He’s deeply confused by what the society wants him to do and what he desires to do as a person. Huck finally makes an ethical alternative based mostly on his personal valuation of Jim’s friendship with him, an ethical alternative leads that leads an direct opposition to the thins he was taught. What President Obama and Mark Twain are each proposing is that it’s our unsatisfaction of personal situations drives us to query the obtained values of society, wherein manner, we get on the street of in search of our personal values. We expertise feelings that we by no means skilled earlier than by becoming on different individuals’s footwear, thus we discover ways to sympathize. A brand new methods of rationalizing and moralizing is developed. Mark Twain used “n-word” in his guide to satirize that South for it lengthy historical past of slavery and to make individuals understand how harsh African Individuals had been handled again within the days. By offering an correct glimpse in to our horrible previous, it makes us retrospect and take into consideration the that means of equity and equality. Mark Twain proposes in his Lecture Notes that “a sound coronary heart is a surer information than an ill-trained conscience”. He desires us to understand how necessary it’s for us to maintain in search of and enhancing their understanding of equity and justice. Like the way in which he describes the novel “ a guide of mine the place a sound coronary heart and a deformed conscience come into collision and conscience suffers defeat” which is per Obama’s speech on freedom. “We maintain these truths to be self-evident, that every one males are created equal; that they’re endowed by their Creator with sure unalienable rights; that amongst these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Talking basically, Mark Twain identifies the issue of society, and makes us assume deeply about issues akin to particular person freedom, private worth and ethical ideas. President Obama reinforces them, he advocates the significance of sure notation of equity and equalities in order that minorities will not be oppressed due to majority’s selections. All through the novel, society’s voice is heard by the voice of 13 years outdated boy Huck. The racist and hateful contempt that existed on the time is at many instances current. It is important for us to acknowledge that Twain disputes these concepts all through the novel. Twain brings out into the open of the unfairness of the society and makes the readers to problem the assumption of social norms. Through the use of satire, irony and sarcasm, Twain factors out the stupidity of slavery and illustrates society’s viewpoints of morality in contracts with Huck’s personal manner of establish morality by his adventures with Jim. ITM301 SLP2. IT GOVERNANCE AND DECISION MAKING Working with the Excel Environment Excel allows us to calculate numerical information using formulas. In Module 2, we learn how to use cell references to create formulas. In order to create a formula, we need to learn about Excel standard operators for formulas. These operators are a plus sign (+) for addition, a minus sign (-) for subtraction, an asterisk (*) for multiplication, a forward slash (/) for division, and a caret (^) for exponents. Excel uses = sign to start a formula, and that cell must be equal to the formula which is calculated for. Source: http://www.gcflearnfree.org/excel2013/13 Excel 2013 uses features like the Ribbon and Quick Access toolbar to perform common tasks. The Ribbon in Excel 2013 uses a tabbed Ribbon system rather the traditional menu. Below is the description of the different tabs in Excel 2010-2013. Understanding cell references A cell is recognized by its address. The intersection of a columns and a row represent a cell address. For instance, column B and row 3 is the cell B3. The cell value is the value of what we calculate for a specific cell. For instance, if we B1 = 15, B2 = 25, then the value of B3 = B1+B2 or B3 = 15+25=40, therefore, the value of B3 = 40 as shown below. In formula section we have, Fx =A1+A2 15 25 B1+B2= 40 Please review the following link and watch the following section videos. Leadership Theories In Practice

PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION BELOW ZERO PLAGIARISM FIVE REFERENCES A walk through the Business section of any bookstore or a quick Internet search on the topic will reveal a seemingly endless supply of writings on leadership. Formal research literature is also teeming with volumes on the subject. However, your own observation and experiences may suggest these theories are not always so easily found in practice. Not that the potential isn’t there; current evidence suggests that leadership factors such as emotional intelligence and transformational leadership behaviors, for example, can be highly effective for leading nurses and organizations. Yet, how well are these theories put to practice? In this Discussion, you will examine formal leadership theories. You will compare these theories to behaviors you have observed firsthand and discuss their effectiveness in impacting your organization. To Prepare: Review the Resources and examine the leadership theories and behaviors introduced. Identify two to three scholarly resources, in addition to this Module’s readings, that evaluate the impact of leadership behaviors in creating healthy work environments. Reflect on the leadership behaviors presented in the three resources that you selected for review. By Day 3 of Week 4 Post two key insights you had from the scholarly resources you selected. Describe a leader whom you have seen use such behaviors and skills, or a situation where you have seen these behaviors and skills used in practice. Be specific and provide examples. Then, explain to what extent these skills were effective and how their practice impacted the workplace.[supanova_question]

Part 1, informatics and nursing 1. In the media introduction to this module, it was suggested that you as a nurse have an important role in the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC). With a focus on patient care and outcomes, nurses may not always see themselves as contributors to the development of new systems. However, as you may have observed in your own experience, exclusion of nurse contributions when implementing systems can have dire consequences. In this Discussion, you will consider the role you might play in systems development and the ramifications of not being an active participant in systems development. To Prepare: · Review the steps of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) as presented in the Resources. · Reflect on your own healthcare organization (Hospital) and consider any steps your healthcare organization goes through when purchasing and implementing a new health information technology system. · Consider what a nurse might contribute to decisions made at each stage of the SDLC when planning for new health information technology. Question to discuss a description of what you believe to be the consequences of a healthcare organization not involving nurses in each stage of the SDLC when purchasing and implementing a new health information technology system. Provide specific examples of potential issues at each stage of the SDLC and explain how the inclusion of nurses may help address these issues. Then, explain whether you had any input in the selection and planning of new health information technology systems in your nursing practice or healthcare organization and explain potential impacts of being included or not in the decision-making process. Be specific and provide examples. part two Discussion on policy and advocacy in improving population health discussion, you considered how professional nurses can become involved in policy-making. A critical component of any policy design is evaluation of the results. How comfortable are you with the thought of becoming involved with such matters? Some nurses may be hesitant to get involved with policy evaluation. The preference may be to focus on the care and well-being of their patients; some nurses may feel ill-equipped to enter the realm of policy and political activities. However, as you have examined previously, who better to advocate for patients and effective programs and polices than nurses? Already patient advocates in interactions with doctors and leadership, why not with government and regulatory agencies? In this Discussion, you will reflect on the role of professional nurses in policy evaluation. To Prepare: · In the Module 4 Discussion, you considered how professional nurses can become involved in policy-making. · Review the Resources and reflect on the role of professional nurses in policy evaluation. Question to discuss an explanation of at least two opportunities that currently exist for RNs and APRNs to actively participate in policy review. Marketing Case – Buick Motors free essay help online

As talked about above, the common age of a Buick purchaser within the early to mid sass’s was of their early seventies. This was in comparison with the common age of 52 for a brand new automobile purchaser on the whole. In 2008, Buick bought Simply over 137,000 new vehicles for under a four. 6% share of total GM gross sales and solely a 1. 04% market share Within the united States. Promoting was virtually non-existent. Buck’s concept of branding by means of company sponsorship of sporting occasions was to sponsor the Buick Open Golf Match. Golf Shouldn’t be precisely geared in direction of a youthful viewers. Does not imply that the youthful viewers will purchase into the message and be transformed. There must be a official motive for a younger viewers to be interested in the product and never Simply because advertisers and entrepreneurs say it’s best to. The principle situation dealing with Buick was that that they had a fleet of previous trying vehicles that weren’t practically as fashionable as different luxurious vehicles in comparable segments. Administration made a transparent resolution to market its class of vehicles to a younger “city” crowd in main cities with the hopes that if these city trendsetters favored what they noticed and started to buy Buick, this might have a ripple impact into the mainstream market and would enhance demand for Buick merchandise throughout the board. This technique was pursued by customizing and detailing Buick Lucent’s with bigger wheels, upgraded sound programs and detailing packages that catered to this youthful city purchaser. The principle issues with this technique had been threefold. The primary drawback highlighted within the case which I agree with is that administration got here throughout as insincere and out of contact. The media panel introduced in by Buick commented that administration “confirmed a disconnect between the model and its target market” and that “Buick concept of city appears a bit quaint”.

Take for instance Buick utilizing Tiger Woods to distant Buick vehicles. As part of Tiger’s sponsorship cope with Buick, I might consider that he could personal a Buick or two however I additionally consider that Tiger’s automobile of alternative is just not a Buick! The second drawback with this technique was that by making an attempt to focus on a younger city viewers, Buick risked alienating its core client which was an aged suburbanite who did not have the primary clue what “city” was. If Buick buyer base was alienated, that would imply the tip of the model. The third situation that I see with the technique is a sensitive one as a result of it is a sensitive topic and that’s he situation of racism. When a predominantly Caucasian administration staff and model try to focus on a Hipic and African American viewers, if they’re perceived as not being real or honest, administration may face whispers of racism and an anti-Buick backlash may simply taint and destroy the model. Options With the intention to assist administration’s want to draw a youthful purchaser, there must be substance behind the advertising and promoting blitz. Administration has to noticeably evaluation the present vehicles within the Buick model and decide what younger patrons are searching for in a luxurious sedan. As soon as these client needs are recognized, administration should cater to them and design a youthful trying class of vehicles with a degree of luxurious, high quality, choices, efficiency and worth level that rivals or beats its competitors inside the class. Robust advertising campaigns can set off client demand for under so lengthy with smoke and mirrors. On the finish of the day, the product has to satisfy buyer and worth decide success. My private observations of younger automobile patrons are that sure elements of a automobile are essential to them. A glossy and sporty design is often firstly. A automobile with regressive options like GAPS, MPH and Pod compatibility together with a excessive efficiency sound system resonate with younger patrons as effectively. After all younger patrons do not often have as a lot cash as older patrons so worth and affordability are essential to a younger purchaser. In in the present day’s financial system and society, younger patrons are extra acutely aware of going inexperienced and fuel consumption so the vehicles needs to be gas environment friendly and exceed emissions requirements. I additionally consider that Buick is not able to Soar into the “city” market. Whereas I do consider in advertising in direction of a youthful viewers, I am unsure I might threat the model on ailing to the city market within the hopes that it will crossover to mainstream America. There are many advertising alternatives that may goal a youthful viewers in mainstream America. As we speak, film theaters present advertisements previous to films and as everyone knows, younger individuals make up the most important share of film goers. I like Buick technique of displaying Buick exterior of golf equipment, bars, stylish outlets and eating places. At this stage of their model repositioning, any “buzz” a few Buick is nice for the model and to have it on the information of individuals’s tongues is step one in hanging client notion that a Buick may be an possibility for a younger purchaser. I might additionally look to complement conventional advertising methods like print, TV, billboards and nationwide campaigns with an web and social media advertising technique and marketing campaign on Twitter and Spine. Younger customers have an enormous and essential presence on these social media retailers. I might look to sever ties with the Golf sponsorship and Tiger Woods and both eradicate the usage of superstar endorsements altogether or revisit the superstar spokesperson to be a extra lifelike Buick consumer. Any technique to extend market share within the luxurious phase should contain coping with the sturdy presence that imports have. The principle approach that home vehicles can compete with imports is on worth. Younger patrons are additionally very targeted on worth particularly if they’re a primary time automobile purchaser or perhaps a child boomer trying to economize in a good financial system. Based mostly on my drawback cited above with younger purchaser perceptions of what a Buick is, it could appear that Buick would battle to get potential younger patrons into their showrooms to even take a look at drive a Buick. As such I might contemplate offering incentives o potential patrons to come back to a seller and take a look at drive a Buick. These may embrace money funds or a discount in worth in the event that they buy a Buick.

The Economics Of Federalism

Since ratification of the U.S. Constitution, relations among state governments and the national government have grown to be much more interdependent. Whereas states once enjoyed greater autonomy (dual federalism), the additional demands placed on government (at all levels) has fostered an evolution of federalism, whereby the federal government now plays a much more pronounced role in local and state affairs, with respect to a whole host of issues (including healthcare, education, public safety, transportation, etc.). In 1,500 to 2000 words do the following.

1.  Describe block grants, categorical grants, and unfunded mandates. How do they demonstrate fiscal federalism?

2.  Explain which funding mechanism states prefer. Why? Which funding mechanism does the federal government prefer? Why?

3.  Describe how both state and federal governments participate in the provision of medical care to low-income residents.

4.  In Arizona, low-income residents receive healthcare coverage through the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS). How is AHCCCS funded (e.g., categorical grants)? What are the eligibility requirements, and who sets them? How do the basic conditions set by the federal government constrain AHCCCS?

5.  Assess the effectiveness of federal aid to state and local communities, particularly as it relates to healthcare coverage.

Use two to three scholarly resources to support your explanations.

Business Case and Proposal for Project Selection You work for Centervale Apparel, a large clothing manufacturing firm. Centervale Apparel has budgeted $9.7 million for new technology initiatives in the coming year but the project requests currently in the queue for next year total about $15 million. Your boss, the executive director of operations, has asked you to put together a proposal for this project to replace legacy order fulfillment technologies by implementing a supply chain management (SCM) system. Your boss wants to ensure this project will be prioritized over other projects on the list and will be implemented in the coming year. Use the following data to prepare a proposal using a balanced scorecard approach to demonstrate the project’s value to Centervale Apparel. Here is your brief: Business Problem: The order fulfillment team has been using several legacy technology systems to manage inventory and distribution. The current systems do not work together, requiring redundant information input and processing. Because of the redundant processes, work is duplicated requiring multiple data entry points and sometimes results in inaccurate and irreconcilable data. There is a constant overage or shortage of supply due to the time it takes for data to get from one point to another. This causes unhappy customers and inventory carrying costs that could be avoided. Project Description: Replace legacy order fulfillment technologies by implementing a SCM system. Project Cost: The project will cost approximately $1.2 million including infrastructure and resources to complete the implementation and $250,000 annually to support and maintain the new system with a ten-year lifecycle for the system. Project Benefit: It is estimated that the implementation of a supply chain management system will improve the order fulfillment processing time and reduce inventory-carrying costs. Implementing the SCM system will also enable the retirement of several legacy systems. Estimated annual cost savings are: Data entry staff reduced from 10 FTE to 8 FTE = $100,000/yr savings Reduction in inventory carrying costs = $300,000/yr savings Improved order fulfillment = 10-20% decrease in order to delivery time. This will improve customer satisfaction and retention Improved data accuracy Legacy system maintenance retirement savings = $100,000/yr Using the information that details the primary business goals for the coming year, you will need to demonstrate how implementing the SCM system will help achieve the business objectives. Note: Customers are retail companies who order from this clothing manufacturer. Assume a ten-year lifecycle for the SCM system. Research methods of developing proposals by applying the balanced scorecard approach. Select two scholarly resources for use in this assignment. You will use these resources to justify your recommendations. The proposal should include the following: Describe the measureable value. This should include a cost-benefit analysis, such as payback period or ROI that relies on tangible measures of organizational value through cost savings, revenue enhancements, or improvements in the speed, quality, or efficiency of key processes that help achieve competitive advantage (note the difference between tangible and intangible measures in this proposal). Evaluate and choose alternatives. Make sure to identify any alternatives to the project implementation and provide a justification for each. Complete a risk assessment of all risks associated with implementing the project using an enterprise risk management (ERM) model. Describe total cost of ownership and include descriptions of implementation project and ongoing maintenance costs. Explain the benefits of the project, which include tangible and intangible benefits. Fully justify a recommendation with a compelling proposal that aligns to the business goals. Write a 6 pages paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.[supanova_question]

JC has numerous comorbidities that require consistent medication therapy. JC suffers from hypertension and takes lisinopril daily for management. Failure to treat the hypertension would result in him being at greater risk of suffering from a myocardial infarction or ischemic cerebrovascular accident related to atherosclerosis of various arteries due to continued hypertension. JC also appears to be at risk for developing depression. His feelings of being a burden to his daughter signal that he may already be suffering from the effects of depression related to his overall condition. It is imperative that the clinician further assesses his feelings and his fears to determine his emotional state. Demirtürk and Hac?hasano?lu A??lar (2018) stated that patients suffering from depression are at much greater risk for non-adherence to antihypertensive medication therapy, placing them at risk for the complications listed above. JC also suffers from gastroesophageal reflux disease and takes prilosec daily for management. Failure to treat this condition could cause gastrointestinal ulcers and severe gastrointestinal pain. JC also suffers from vitamin B12 deficiency and gets vitamin B12 injections monthly to correct his deficiency. Failure to seek treatment monthly would result in increased fatigue and place JC at risk for muscle atrophy and activity intolerance related to a sedentary lifestyle. Finally, JC suffers from chronic prostatitis and takes cipro daily. Failure to take the prescribed medication therapy could result in prolonged suffering from the side effects of the disease, including frequency, urgency, and difficulty initiating urination. Each of these side effects places JC at greater risk for falls, as he would likely have to attempt to make it to the restroom frequently if he is able to do so. A lack of physical ability places JC at risk for not being able to routinely get his prescriptions filled, which places him at risk for the adverse complications of non-adherence to medication therapy listed above for each comorbidity. A lack of funding places JC at risk for not being able to pay for his prescriptions that yields the same risks. JC’s statement concerning not wanting to be a burden to his daughter serves as proof that the clinician needs to further explore that situation and determine if his daughter is able to be of assistance with JC’s care. If JC is unable to provide self-care and lacks resources that allow him to seek care outside of his daughter that is unable to assist, then the clinician needs to seek resources for JC so that he does not avoid healthcare out of ignorance or embarrassment. Lee, Rhee, Kim, and Ahluwalia (2015) conducted a study of Asian American immigrants to determine their health literacy compared to participants of other descents, and determined that the Asian American participants had significantly lower health literacies than the other ethnicities in the study. The study concluded that for this reason, Asian American patients are much less likely to seek indicated healthcare for necessary reasons. When interacting with JC, it would be important to be sensitive regarding the self-care activities that he is unable to do for himself. It is apparent the JC is embarrassed concerning his inability to care for himself, as he is stating concern about being a burden to his daughter. For this reason, it is extremely important that the clinician be sensitive regarding his inability to provide self-care so that JC does not shut down emotionally. Also, the clinician would need to be very careful not to break JC’s spirit by focusing on the unfavorable circumstances regarding his inability to provide self-care and the lack of support resources that JC possesses. JC is making an active effort to seek healthcare despite his shortcomings. It is important that the clinician avoid overwhelming JC with the facts of the situation to avoid breaking JC’s spirit and causing him to lose the aspiration to seek necessary medical care. Applauding JC’s effort and perseverance throughout the circumstances could be effective in inspiring JC to continue putting forth his best effort. To further assess the patient’s health history, I would ask the following questions: Is there anyone else besides your daughter that can assist you with your healthcare needs? Can you further explain the aspects of your care that you need assistance with so that I can be in a better position to get you the care that you need? Do you consistently take your prescribed medications? If not, what keeps you from consistently taking them? What are your feelings regarding assisted living? Would you be interested in speaking with a social worker to further explore your specific situation so that we can provide you with the assistance that you need? The above listed questions would aid the clinician in establishing a rapport with JC while also providing needed information concerning JC’s needs. Ball, Dains, Flynn, Solomon, and Stewart (2015) stated that it is important to build rapport prior to progressing the patient’s health history for better comfort and results. The questions above introduce the idea of additional support resources without coming across as aggressive or forceful. In JC’s case, it is important that the clinician present these things in a helpful manner to ensure that JC doesn’t begin to feel as if he is a burden to the clinician or any of the support resources. The National Preparedness System

Post 1 The ?whole community approach as described in the National Preparedness Goal refers to the shared responsibility amongst governmental, non-governmental, public and private sector entities, communities and individuals to work together in order to ensure national security and promote resilient communities (FEMA.gov, 2015, p. 1-2). Meaning that individuals must not simply rely on the federal, state or local governments to ensure thier safety and security, but individuals must take thier own safety seriously. Furthermore, the problem does not go away with more funding. Appropriate guidance, laws, education, training, and equipment all play significant roles in national preparedness. The concept of ?whole community is important when viewing both short- and long-term effects that natural and man-made disasters can have on a population. Hurricane Katrina is a perfect example of the lack of a “whole community approach” resulting in improper risk analysis and poor emergency planning. The substandard response and recovery efforts at the federal, state and community-level contributed to almost every issue negatively impacting this incident. Ultimately, there was no precedent for a natural disaster of that magnitude and community leaders and residents found themselves unprepared. There was no distinct chain of command to delegate resources for recovery and rescue operations. Breakdowns in coordination from the federal level to the local level were apparent. ?State and local authorities understood the devastation but, due to destruction of infrastructure and response capabilities, lacked the ability to communicate with each other and coordinate a response, struggled to perform responsibilities such as the rescue of citizens stranded by the rising floodwaters, provision of law enforcement, and evacuation of the remaining population of New Orleans (Townsend, 2006, ch. 5). The Federal Emergency Management Agency leads the charge of the whole community approach to emergency management with the goal of facilitating a culture that shifts primary responsibility from the federal government managing disaster recovery to a community-centric approach. Creating crosstalk between emergency management stakeholders, decision makers, and communities, facilitates exchange of information and best practices that can be shared between communities that have the same hazards and threats. Additionally, community leaders are able to form a shared understanding of thier respective needs and capabilities, leverage resources, strengthen infrastructure, forge more effective prevention, protection, response and recovery while increasing preparedness and resiliency across the community and the nation (FEMA.gov, 2011, p. 3). Fostering a culture of shared responsibility places responsibility of emergency management on governments thereby sharing that responsibility amongst non-governmental, public and private sector agencies, and individual persons with the community. This strengthens communities and in turn hardens our national infrastructure strengthening our security. Post 2 In previous courses I touched a little on the concept of “whole community” and its relevance to homeland security. This weeks lesson and readings refreshed my memory as to the concept of “whole community” and how it related to homeland security. I briefly forgotten about the concept until I read through the material and understood the definition. “Whole community” can be best described by the material and individuals interpretation. I’ve defined the concept as a system that incorporates various levels of government whether its state, federal, or local community aimed at understanding the methods best employed to help strengthen emergency management while identifying threats and hazards. It becomes a broader understanding on how this concept relates to homeland security. The integration of various levels of government establish working relationships that will straighten agencies such as homeland security. However, we can relate the concept to homeland security according to this weeks reading is the five mission areas of homeland security. “These five mission areas serve as an aid in organizing our national preparedness activities and enabling integration and coordination across core capabilities” (U.S. Department of Homeland Security, p. 4). The statement provides relevance as a better understanding of the five missions and their intent, as well as the impact “whole community” has towards homeland security. National preparedness is fundamental, “whole community” concepts allows individuals at any level to help produce vital information that can help strengthen or mitigate future attacks. An example of a resource found within the “whole community” concept would be the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The intent of the concept within the CDC will help establish a community that helps understanding how to apply “whole community” and the CDC program towards emergency management. It defines who and what the CDC is, types of agents and toxins, proper health practices, and training. This program makes an impact upon collective homeland security capabilities because it provides to the masses what the CDC does and what actions can be taken to help mitigate future incidents and attacks that fall within homeland security. Homeland security is broadening agency and reaching out to specific resources will only strengthen its agenda. The capabilities of the CDC will aid homeland security in its endeavors when combatting terrorism.[supanova_question]

How Do This Week’S Readings Prompt Us To Expand How We Discuss And Imagine Pleasure In The Social Imaginary?

Please respond to the question below with at least 500 words. Then respond to at least 2 of your peers with comments containing a minimum of 150 words. How do this week’s readings prompt us to expand how we discuss and imagine pleasure in the social imaginary? first response From this week reading we can see that pornography has strictly banned in the past, from the article ? Introduction Brown Sugar Theorizing Black Women’s Sexual Labor in Pornography the author Jeannie Pepper asserts that ?in the nineteenth century, pornography has been powerfully regulated as the explicit, obscene edge of acceptable forms of sexuality(Jeannie Pepper p.6). It reveals the social phenomenon of sex and pornography. Which led people to think about maybe pornography isn’t appropriate for the outsider world, assume it as dirty secrets. But on the other hand, pornography not just a creature of sex, but something can represent without desire. In the co-author Penley, Shimizu, Young, and Taormino their article points that ? Feminist porn creates alternative images and develops its own aesthetics and iconography to expand established sexual norms and discourses(Penley p.10). It really depends on who we focus on in pornography, most of the people by focusing on the surface by the judge for their actions. Pornography can show more than that, for example, people’s body is not only involved when it comes to sex, it the gift we all have for mangy use, it could be art and instrument, people can use for music for dancing for enjoying. Another factor that prompts us to expand how we discuss and imagine pleasure in the social imaginary is positive thinking. The author Juana Mara Rodrguez claims in the article ?Pornographic encounters and interpretative interventions: Vanessa del Rio: Fifty Years of Slightly Slutty Behavior about the way people thinking sex,?sex-positive feminist porn does not mean that sex is always a ribbon-tied box of happiness and joy. Instead, feminist porn captures the struggle to define, understand, and locate one’s sexuality(Mara Rodrguez, p.329). It expands our thinking about the positive thinking too, for many people have different thoughts it could generate different feelings about the pornography, it might relieve the deep thoughts inside the people, at that time they will be the only judgment about their sexual orientations. Apparently, females have always targeted by pornography, truth is not, it could involve everyone in society. The pornography is not s a shame thing anymore, we should embrace the good side them represent, it reminds us to love our body and thoughts, no matter with any shape. At the same time, we also have to worry about the side-affect pornography can bring, that will be only a caution. From the article ? Constructing a crisis: porn panics and public health the authors Valerie Webber and Rebecca Sullivan points that ? Diseases of over-consumption are quintessentially moral, not health crises (Valerie, Rebecca p.193). if we want to think and exert the good side of the pornography, we have to use it appropriately, understand the disease and overwhelming they can bring people. Moreover, we should embrace that we all human, pornography belongs to human nature, nothing that belongs to human nature is bad. It makes us realized everything has culture and stereotype behind it, we should break the wall that disguises things ugly. second response From this week reading we can see that according to feminists, the problematic nature of pornography is not a question of morality, nor of its sexual explicitness, but of its sexism. Feminist argument puts pornography into the focus of gender oppression, claiming that pornography subordinates women. Antipornographic feminists have identified pornography as the cause of male violence against women and the low status of women in society. Rendering pornography is not nice in many cases. Who should be dominant? Who should be submissive? How does this sex look like to our liking or other people? Scenes in pornographic videos often revolve around the fact that a woman is tamed first by a man, and that is attractive to many men. Even more than depicting nonviolent sex. In my opinion, the world around us is divided into black / white, good / evil and other binary oppositions, active / passive or dominant / submissive. And feminist pornography disrupts this established order. Thus, the most beneficial in feminist pornography is not so much to find the answer to a woman’s desire, but to ask what / who a “woman” is and to question the usual answers.Pornography evokes various feelings in women. Many women are attracted to pornography, others are repelled. It is often presented in society that for feminists pornography is synonymous with violence against women, discrimination, abuse, dehumanization, etc. It should be remembered that rejecting pornography is not the attitude of the whole feminist movement, but only one part of it. The feminists’ opinion on pornography is therefore not uniform. Their view depends on the degree of radicality of feminism they advocate. Feminists perceive pornography very negatively, as I already mentioned. The main problem is not sexual explicitness, but gender oppression. According to them, a woman in pornography is put in a sort of oppressed position. As I have read earlier, I have found an interesting thing that antipornographic feminist groups use this argument to promote the notion that pornography is the cause of male violence against women and because of it, women achieve low status in society. According to them, pornography is based on a masculine character. The man is depicted in a position where he has the power to command, whereas the woman is a victim who must obey. The subordinate position of women in our culture has been explained by feminists as a function of violence, and especially of sexual violence against them.According to some feminists, pornography, which at least contributes to a cultural climate that accepts aggression against women, is one of the strongest institutions that promotes and makes violence against women. From the point of view of radical feminists, what is called sexuality is a dynamic of control and control. Pornography shows how men see the world and how they seize through this way of seeing the world, how their way is an act of world control. I feel like sometimes, every type of violence against women – rape, abuse, prostitution, sexual exploitation of children, sexual harassment – is presented in pornography as the ‘real’ nature of women.[supanova_question]

1. Jossy is 6 year old and is in elementary school. At her last doctor visit, her measured height was 46 inches and her weight was 60 pounds. Her pediatrician voiced concern over Jossy’s excessive weight gain over the past year. Her usual diet consists of sweetened cereal with whole milk and fruit juice for breakfast and a juice drink and crackers for her mid-morning snack. On school days, Jossy buys her lunch at school; her favorite menu items are pizza and tacos. Jossy’s mother states that she started a new job this past year, which requires that Jossy attend an after-school program until 6 in the evening. She receives a snack there, usually an 8 oz box of fruit juice and crackers. Jossy’s parents report that Jossy is ?always hungry and they will often stop for her favorite chicken nuggets, fries, and soda on late evenings when the family is too tired to cook. Mildred has three children, two of whom live out of state. Her youngest daughter, Charlene, lives about an hour away. Mildred has been retired for ten years. Despite the demands of her teaching career, Mildred always managed to prepare and serve evening meals for her family. During retirement, she continued this routine of cooking for herself and her late husband Vernon. Now that she is living alone, Mildred continues to live independently preparing her own meals and doing light housekeeping. She has realized, however, that it is difficult to cook for only one person. On the positive side, Mildred is occasionally inspired to cook a creative meal and freeze the leftovers for later use. MASTER’S LEVEL EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY CONSULTATION AT A GLANCE DOCUMENT

Write a succinct and persuasive at-a-glance document explaining the benefits of classroom observation and consultation with an educational psychologist. Note: The assessments in this course build upon each other, so you are strongly encouraged to complete them in sequence. SHOW LESS Educational psychologists are often hired by school districts to identify ways to improve learner outcomes. By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and assessment criteria: Competency 1: Describe the current issues, parameters, and central tenets that define the specialization of educational psychology. Explain the role of an educational psychologist and benefits to teachers and students. Competency 5: Explain how educational psychology models enhance learner engagement and mediate issues of learning and performance. Describe factors that could impact classroom management. Describe factors that could impact student motivation and engagement. Explain how an educational psychology aligns learning techniques to skill development by age and ability level to enhance skill development. Competency 7: Communicate in a manner that is scholarly, professional, and consistent with university expectations for graduate education, including discipline knowledge and current APA formatting standards. Write clearly and logically, with correct use of spelling, grammar, punctuation, and mechanics, and correctly format citations using APA style. Classroom Management Some approaches to classroom management work better than others. The goal for teachers should be to produce competent and self-regulated individuals. A teacher sets the classroom environment to enhance intrinsic motivation by engaging the students with four intrinsic rewards: a sense of meaningfulness, a sense of choice, a sense of competence, and a sense of progress (Thomas, 2009). SHOW LESS Motivation According to Pintrich and Schunk (1996), “Motivation is the process whereby goal directed behavior is instigated and sustained” (p. 4). We could discuss the skills necessary to be a good student and a good teacher all quarter, but if the student is not motivated, we all know that learning will not take place. In this assessment, we explore the construct of motivation, a topic that is inextricably tied to learning. References Pintrich, P. R. & Schunk, D. H. (1996). Motivation in education: Theory, research, and applications. Englewood Cliffs, NJ: Prentice-Hall. Thomas, K. (2009). Intrinsic motivation at work: What really drives employee management (2nd ed.). San Francisco: Berrett-Koehler Publishers. To deepen your understanding, you are encouraged to consider the questions below and discuss them with a fellow learner, a work associate, an interested friend, or a member of the business community. SHOW LESS How would you attribute success to maximize future achievement if your child announces the intention to “just to be a C student”? How would you explain views of motivation to parents, such as: behavioral view, the social cognitive view, etc.? Are the approaches to classroom management situational? Does one approach work better that another, depending on the situation? What are the the pros and cons of using an authoritarian, permissive, and authoritative approach to classroom management? Preparation Teachers are wary of classroom observation. Many feel judged and defensive. Your task in this assessment is to persuade teachers of the benefits of a classroom observation and consultation. Since teachers do not have time to read an article, a long email with an attachment, or a complex memo, create a very succinct, high-level explanation in the form of an at-a-glance document, something typically used in business. These documents often take the form of a question and answer sheet, and there are numerous examples from business training and government on the Internet that you may wish to examine before beginning this assessment. Scenario Imagine that you are a consultant in educational psychology for an institution that serves children ages 1418. You have been hired to observe the learning environment and provide recommendations that will improve classroom management, motivation, engagement, and student performance. Although the education institution hired you for this consultation, it will be important to prepare a brief introduction to the teachers you will be helping. In other words, you have to sell teachers on the benefits of consulting with an educational psychologist, in order to gain their trust and cooperation. Deliverable Create a one- to two-page at-a-glance document for teachers. The purpose of an at-a-glance document is to impart information in an easily scannable, comprehensible, and succinct format. Sub-headings help the reader quickly locate information in a text-only format. You may decide to use an illustrated approach using graphics. You may use bullet points and phrases to succinctly explain the benefits of classroom observation and consultation with an educational psychologist. There is no correct way to format this document. Use whatever format you wish to create a document that meets the criteria below, is persuasive, and easy to read. Include the following in your document: Explain the role of an educational psychologist. Explain how the results will help teachers in the classroom. Explain how students will benefit. Describe factors that could impact classroom management. Briefly explain why each factor is important to improve classroom management. Describe factors that could impact student motivation and engagement. Briefly explain why each factor is important to improve student motivation and engagement. Explain how an educational psychology aligns learning techniques by age and ability level to enhance skill development. Provide examples of learning techniques for skill development for the age group. Additional Requirements Written communication: Writing is free of errors that detract from the overall message. Length: 2 pages.[supanova_question]
