MGMT 412 AIU Multidisciplinary Integration of Factors Case Study | WriteDen a level english language essay help: a level english language essay help

Risk is inherent to every project. Some risks are more likely to occur than others, and some will have a greater impact to the project if realized. Although you cannot account for every risk, a thorough risk analysis and assessment can help minimize the liabilities of the project and ensure that your projects are successful.

Refer to Case 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, and 7.4 of your text. Each of these cases presents you with a project scope statement for a fictional project. You are to pick 1 of these cases on which to perform a risk analysis. After picking a case of your choice, you should address the following:

Summarize the project.
Discuss how the risk management process will be applied.
Identify potential risks associated with this project (you must come up with at least 5 different risks).
Use a risk assessment form to analyze identified risks.
Develop a risk response matrix to outline how you would deal with each of the risks.

Please use the following templates when writing your paper

Risk Assessment Form
Risk Response Matrix

In conducting the risk assessment and developing the risk response matrix, you can either develop the risk assessment form and the risk response matrix yourself, or you can use the templates provided in your text. Your submission should be 5 pages in length. Be sure to cite your sources using APA; include your references and in-text citations.

Use this template to complete this assignment.

Overview

You have been contracted as a human resources (HR) consultant by a limited liability company (LLC) in Wilmington, Delaware, to solve their internal issues. This U.S. LLC is a branch of a Singaporean software solutions provider with 140 employees and $1M in revenue per year. The chief executive officer (CEO) of the Singaporean organization wants to open new markets in the United States, gain access to new customers, diversify risk, leverage resources, and increase profits. To meet these goals, the CEO tasked a vice president (VP) to establish and take charge of the U.S. LLC.

Unfortunately, the VP’s efforts to replicate the parent organization’s standard operating procedures (SOP) while creating a unified culture across both units have been unsuccessful. The CEO’s vision of expanding to the U.S. market remains unfulfilled. Team members of the call center in Wilmington, Delaware, and the sales and marketing divisions of the company are unhappy about receiving conflicting feedback from the VP and the management team. Also, communication issues between U.S. and Singaporean employees are resulting in low employee morale at the U.S. branch, as indicated by the Employee Engagement Survey and exit interviews. The VP has asked you to produce a plan that can solve the conflicts in the organization. Before you start, you want to inform the VP about potential reasons why an organization fails to change and suggest ways to avoid them.

Prompt

Write an email to inform the VP about some reasons for failure to change, which may influence the change readiness of the employees at the U.S. branch. Consider organization data and research material to identify reasons that are relevant for the U.S. branch of the organization.

Specifically, you must address the following criteria:

Identify the most prevalent reasons for failure to change.

Describe two reasons in detail.

Cite appropriate resources from your reading to justify your answer.

Describe two consequences of failure that can affect the U.S. branch.

Consider the organization data in the form of Leaders’ Self-Evaluations, Employee Engagement Surveys, and Exit Interviews.

Which data points indicate resistance to change?

Which data points indicate readiness to change?

Describe one professionally researched best practice to avoid failure to change.

What are the different ways of dealing with change resistance?

Which is the best method to avoid organizational change failure?

Guidelines for Submission

Submit a Word document using double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. This assignment should be 1–2 pages in length and include references cited in APA format. Consult the Shapiro Library APA Style Guide for more information on citations.

The Quadruple Aim | WriteDen summary and response essay help: summary and response essay help

Assignment: Analysis of a Pertinent Healthcare Issue

The Quadruple Aim provides broad categories of goals to pursue to maintain and improve healthcare. Within each goal are many issues that, if addressed successfully, may have a positive impact on outcomes. For example, healthcare leaders are being tasked to shift from an emphasis on disease management often provided in an acute care setting to health promotion and disease prevention delivered in primary care settings. Efforts in this area can have significant positive impacts by reducing the need for primary healthcare and by reducing the stress on the healthcare system.

Changes in the industry only serve to stress what has always been true; namely, that the healthcare field has always faced significant challenges, and that goals to improve healthcare will always involve multiple stakeholders. This should not seem surprising given the circumstances. Indeed, when a growing population needs care, there are factors involved such as the demands of providing that care and the rising costs associated with healthcare. Generally, it is not surprising that the field of healthcare is an industry facing multifaceted issues that evolve over time.

In this module’s Discussion, you reviewed some healthcare issues/stressors and selected one for further review. For this Assignment, you will consider in more detail the healthcare issue/stressor you selected. You will also review research that addresses the issue/stressor and write a white paper to your organization’s leadership that addresses the issue/stressor you selected.

To Prepare:

Review the national healthcare issues/stressors presented in the Resources and reflect on the national healthcare issue/stressor you selected for study.

Reflect on the feedback you received from your colleagues on your Discussion post for the national healthcare issue/stressor you selected.

Identify and review two additional scholarly resources (not included in the Resources for this module) that focus on change strategies implemented by healthcare organizations to address your selected national healthcare issue/stressor.

The Assignment (2-3 Pages):

Analysis of a Pertinent Healthcare Issue

Develop a 2 to 3 page paper, written to your organization’s leadership team, addressing your selected national healthcare issue/stressor and how it is impacting your work setting. Be sure to address the following:

Describe the national healthcare issue/stressor you selected and its impact on your organization. Use organizational data to quantify the impact (if necessary, seek assistance from leadership or appropriate stakeholders in your organization).

Provide a brief summary of the two articles you reviewed from outside resources on the national healthcare issue/stressor. Explain how the healthcare issue/stressor is being addressed in other organizations.

Summarize the strategies used to address the organizational impact of national healthcare issues/stressors presented in the scholarly resources you selected. Explain how they may impact your organization both positively and negatively. Be specific and provide examples.

The Role of Women

Sundiata’s epic shows how women are born and grow in male-dominated communities. For instance, women’s rights were always violated, and society demanded they be submissive. The women were perceived as less superior in some instances, but they got an opportunity to demonstrate their strengths. The women have to stand out even if it costs them paraffin and water to claim glory against the women. They do everything to maintain their position as preferred wives in society. Some of them possess high skills and knowledge. For instance, Sogolon ensures that she is a good mother to her son by informing him of the dangers he is facing. The way women are treated in Sundiata is similar to our culture, where women have defied so many odds to be where they are(Tsaaior 1-2). For the longest time in society, patriarchal values oppressed women, but many have overcome the hurdles by showing their strengths at every opportunity they get.

The passage that shows the role of women in society is found on page 18 of the book in the chapter “The Lion’s Awakening”(Niane 18). It talks about how Sassouma realized that Sogolon preferred to increase the danger through male domination. At the time, the women’s position was only doing the house chores and limited to the participation in other activities in the society. Such treatment of the women shows that society despised them. It shows that when the women are put under oppression, they suffer, and no one can save them. At the same time, it is through the male domination that the women suffered. Therefore, society valued men more than women, which contributed to their low status.

FIRST: Unit 1B’s introduction to the Five Great Themes of World Literature states with regard to the hero: “The surest way to understand what a culture of the past most values is to focus on what it considers heroic, in that a culture recognizes its heroes as embodying its most important ideas, the values that are essential.” Discuss the diverse values that our two epic heroes, Rustem and Dante, embody.

Which values embodied by these epic heroes are endorsed or celebrated by their societies?

Are any of their values condemned or rejected by their societies?

Illustrate your discussion with specific examples of the heroes’ obligations to their societies and what their values reflect about their cultures.

One passage you should include in your discussion reflects Dante’s feelings at the beginning of his journey:

110 I bowed my head and held it low at last

111 the poet said: ‘What are your thoughts?’

112 In answer I replied ‘Oh,

113 how many sweet thoughts, what great desire

114 have brought them to this woeful pass!’ (Canto V).

SECOND, create a slide presentation of your argument. Include both text and images that illustrate and enhance the points you are making. Use the following as an outline of what to include:

Explain the general topic and relevant themes (e.g. heroes, suffering) and any relevant terms for that topic (suggested 2-3 slides).

Apply that topic to both Shahnameh and to Inferno. Give specific examples and quotes from the texts to support your analyses (suggested 5-7 slides). You may want to check the feedback from your previous assignment to make sure you improve upon your earlier efforts.

Your final slide should be your Works Cited slide, with both texts in MLA format.

THIRD, and finally: you’ll practice briefly presenting a few elements of your project. . NOTE- I will do the reading and presenting of the power points based on notes listed in the PowerPoint. Instead, trust that your reader has already looked through your slides and use the time to discuss what you yourself found compelling about this project.

For example:

what do you feel is the most fascinating part of your presentation, and why?

What do you understand about these epics now that you didn’t before you worked on this project?

What interesting connections have you made?

If you had time to continue working on this project, what might you explore next?

Shoot for a total presentation time between 2-3 minutes.

Dante’s text is written to add the Christian context because it puts earthly sinners, denoting the torment in hell based on their earthly experiences. Dante believed that for humans to have a perfect social and political state, there must be peace in the nation. Peace is achievable when humans are not selfish or do not work against fellow human beings with the intent of harm. Dante’s quest is universal as he not only talks about himself but the people. His poem worked to represent the whole universe in a call to help them avoid sin.

What are some political and social issues of the time, and how do characters such as Ciacco, Bocca, Archbishop Ruggieri, or even Dante exemplify these issues? How does the church of the time judge them, in Dante’s opinion, the author of the poem?

Ciacco believes that envy will end in war, and all the contemporaries will be punished in hell for their sins (Dante Alighieri, paragraph 37). Bocca the Ghibelline, by blood, is frozen in the depths of hell after the betrayal in a key battle. The likes of Archbishop Ruggieri and Ugolino are frozen, with one chewing on the other’s skull (Dante Alighieri, paragraph 37). They both get frozen in the lowest parts of hell; the Archbishop for imprisoning Ugolino, his sons, and his grandson, letting them do without food till they starve to death and Ugolino for helping the Archbishop weaken the Guelf competitors.

 The passage.

“Through every city shall he hunt her down?

Until he shall have driven her back to Hell,

From that place whence envy first did let her loose.”

How does your passage illustrate a conclusion about the judgment of human actions as seen in the Inferno?

Dante discusses that after the people are dead, they shall be judged and would either be thrown to hell or be saved in purgatory (Franke, 15). He claims that judgment shall come, and the souls shall either stay in hell or purgatory for the longest time. The damned will suffer.

The significance of understanding the Medieval Italian culture

Dante’s explanation and depiction of heaven, hell, and purgatory inspire Western Art. Artists from all denominations and faith have tried to reinterpret the divine comedy to address issues like politics, society, and artistic principles that affect today’s world. Dante’s poem creates an effective means to appreciate medieval literature. Dante’s explanation of the afterlife is an influential piece of literature and became a center ground for the modern Italian language. He altered the way religion and the afterlife were reflected.

The relationship between secular and sacred

Dante’s Inferno is an analogy of earthly sinners and the torments they go through in hell (Franke, 18). The poem is rounded up with religious and secular ideas because of the punishments in hell.

Summary

Dante’s poem is meant to help everyone overcome the problem of sin and discover God’s love. In his poem, he gets us through the consequence of sin that takes us to hell, where all evil receives its punishment.

BUS 639 WK3 – write essay help: write essay help

Being a champion of change means promoting exploratory efforts and leading or supporting product evaluations to address inefficiency within the organization. This might be done by suggesting alternative technologies or processes, and by being a proponent of pilot testing promising solutions or software options in a live environment, such as volunteering to pilot test possible candidate technologies within one’s own department.

Today, you are the CFO of DargeanGrix, Inc. If needed, review the DargeanGrix Business Scenario document. You’ve identified an area in the organization in which you think things can be improved, and you have an idea about how this can be done. Consider how you would champion this change, and think about what you would need to present to your collegues in senior management in order to make the case for exploring the idea for the change in DargeanGrix.

Make a video argument to your senior leader peers, and present your reasoning for your improvement idea. Discuss the change, technology, or new process that the idea entails. Post the completed video to the discussion forum. You may include a slide presentation to supplement your video argument.

The video should be at least 3 minutes and no more than 5 minutes in length and cover the following elements:

Explain your idea for improving a DargeanGrix process.
Explain how your idea would help improve the process, department, or organization.
Explain why your idea can help move the organization or department forward.
Discuss what you are willing to do to support the exploration of the idea (e.g., research the possibilities, be the pilot test department, lend team members to the project development, etc.).

Explain how these elements will help provide additional information or other possibilities for improving the process, department, or organization.

Your goal in the video is to sell the idea to your senior leader colleagues and create buy-in for exploring your idea and your approach.

Instructions for recording or uploading a video:

Write a script. Name and save your script as a Word document. (The script will be used for reference while you record your video and may be used as a transcript for accessibility purposes.)
Paste your script within your initial post in this discussion forum.

Freedom of Assembly/Religion – writing an essay help: writing an essay help

Prior to posting your primary response to this discussion watch The First Amendment (Links to an external site.) and the 002 History of US law and what is the law? (Links to an external site.) videos and review all the one-page Supreme Court decisions listed in the Required Resources section.

Respond to the following case scenario:

Reverend William B. Slick is the spiritual leader of the Church of the Jurassic Spirit (CJS). CJS doctrine claims that every invention since the dinosaurs has been inspired by the devil and that members must return to the spirit of the Jurassic period in order to be purified. The primary ritual is to publicly bathe in the essence of the dinosaurs (oil). Capital City follows the same format for its permits used by the City of Atlanta, Georgia (i.e., City of Atlanta’s Assembly Permit Application (Links to an external site.)). The CJS applies for a permit for 500 of its members to assemble to bathe in oil in Capital City Park. CJS plans to march to the Capital City River to dump the oil, thereby “returning it to the Earth.” The mayor of Capital City despises the CJSers, because he feels that their ritual is a waste of petroleum, which is a diminishing resource. He also feels that the dumping of the oil will pollute the river. The police chief of Capital City hates the idea of 500 CJSers bathing in oil in the park and fears their march to the river will cause counter demonstrations and possible violence. The permit is denied. The CJSers appear to perform their ritual anyway and are all arrested.

Research First Amendment cases involving free exercise of religion and freedom of assembly.

If your last name begins with A through M, address the following in your primary response this week:

Whether Capital City has violated the CJSers’ free exercise of religion.
Whether Capital City has violated the CJSers’ right to freely assemble.

If your last name begins with N through Z, address the following in your primary response for this week.

Whether city ordinances that require permits for a march violate the First Amendment.
What are the limits of the free exercise of religion clause are.

Your initial post should be at least 250 words in length. Support your claims with examples from the required material(s) and/or other scholarly resources, and properly cite any references. Address information that is missing to better understand the position of either side in this confrontation and whether different reasoning for either the CJS’ or Capital City’s actions would strengthen their respective positions.

Case 1: Using an E-mail Address to Determine a Networks Operating System

Alexander Rocco Corporation has multiple OSs running in its many offices. Before conducting a security test to determine the vulnerabilities you need to correct, you want to determine whether any OSs are running that youre not aware of. Christy Fitzgerald, the network administrator/security officer, is resistant to giving you information after he learns youre there to discover network security vulnerabilities. He sees you as a threat to his position. After several hours of interviews, you can ascertain only that Mikes personal e-mail address is vetman2601@gmail.com, and an old RHEL server is running on one of the companys systems. Based on this information, answer the following questions:

Questions:

a. What tools might you use after learning Mikes e-mail address?

b. What can you determine by entering Mikes e-mail address into Google? What about just the handle vetman2601?

c. Could the information you learned from Google be used to conduct vulnerability testing?

d. Write a memo to the IT manager, Bob Jones, about the potential issues with running a old RHEL 5.8 server, and mention the importance of patch hygiene. Make sure your memo explains how you gathered this information and offers constructive feedback. Your memo shouldnt point a finger at any company employees; it should discuss problems on a general level.

Case 2: Using Dumpster-Diving Skills

You have observed that Alexander Rocco Corporation uses Alikas Cleaning Company for its janitorial services. The companys floors are vacuumed and mopped each night, and the trash is collected in large bins placed outside for pickup on Tuesdays and Fridays. You decide to visit the dumpster Thursday evening after the cleaning crew leaves. Wearing surgical gloves and carrying a large plastic sheet, you place as much of the trash on the sheet as possible. Sorting through the material, you find the following items: a company phone directory; a Windows NT training kit; 23 outdated Oracle magazines; notes that appear to be programs written in HTML, containing links to a SQL Server database; 15 company memos from key employees; food wrappers; an empty bottle of expensive vodka; torn copies of several resumes; an unopened box of new business cards; and an old pair of womens running shoes.

Question

a. Based on this information, write a report explaining the relevance these items have. What recommendations, if any, might you give to Alexander Rocco management?

Journal 215 | essay help online free: essay help online free

Journal 215

Overview

In this journal activity, you will explore the ways in which use of language influences perceptions of human behavior.

Scenario

To better understand the elements that shape our view of human abnormality, Jamal has begun to reflect on his own lived experiences. During Jamals adolescence, no element seemed more powerful to him than language. Jamal clearly recalls boys taunting him as he prepared for gym class, Hey freak, youre in the wrong locker room! Likewise, when boys and girls would disperse into gender-specific groups, Jamal often found himself gravitating toward the girls because they didnt appear to be as mean as the boys; however, his female peers felt that he was too weird to be included in their clique. For Jamal, these emotionally painful events caused him to experience feelings of confusion, ostracism, isolation, and despair.

For as long as he can recall, Jamal has had difficulty identifying with societys views of gender and sexuality. He has never felt as though he is singularly male or female; these categories have simply never aligned with his idealized self-concept. Likewise, Jamal has never felt as though he was exclusively gay. On the contrary, he has always felt as though he could fluidly move between sexual orientations, depending on the situation and context, as though human sexuality existed on a spectrum from heterosexual to homosexual. For these reasons, Jamal has recently begun to identify as bisexual and gender non-binary and, for the first time in his life, feels normal.

The word abnormal carries a lot of humanistic weight. Like a practitioner who is bound by ethical codes of conduct to ensure that no harm is done within the scope of clinical practice, each of us has a moral obligation to ensure that we dont inflict psychological harm on othersintentionally or unintentionallywith the language we use when discussing gender and sexuality. As we learn to value our individual differences, one idea resonates: Its our implicit responsibility to embrace all people with compassion, empathy, and acceptance as they attempt to be what comes most naturally: themselves.

Prompt

The following resources support your work on this activity:

: You may use this template to complete the Module Six Activity assignment.
: This resource was created to help you find psychology related content.

For this journal activity, you will focus on the influence of language on shaping perceptions of human behavior. Specifically, consider how the words we use can have a dramatic positive or negative influence on how we view the biological, psychological, and social orientations of others. Respond to the following prompts with a minimum of 3 to 5 sentences. Address the rubric criteria listed below and support your answers with a credible source when necessary.

Describe how the words we use to discuss gender and sexuality shape our perception of what is considered normal or abnormal. Provide an example within your response.
Imagine engaging in conversation with family, friends, or colleagues and eventually realizing that they were inadvertently promoting stereotypes about gender or sexuality. Describe the thoughts and feelings that you might experience during such a conversation.
Describe the language used within your own culture (e.g., family members, friends, colleagues) when discussing gender and sexuality.

Foundations of Emergency Management | my essay help uk: my essay help uk

Question: Why is evacuation planning so difficult? What kinds of things can go wrong during an actual evacuation? What do you think can be done to minimize these potential setbacks?

Instructions:

There are a few important rules to observe during the Group Discussion process: 1) no profanity or offensive language; 2) no personal attacks, and 3) be courteous and professional when you respond to one of your classmates – part of the education process involves disagreeing without being disagreeable, which is not synonymous with disrespect. However, if I read something that I don’t think is appropriate, then I will immediately remove it from the forum.

The following are the four (4) grade ingredients for each Group Discussion throughout the Semester:

First, choose a topic, conduct research, and write at least three (3) good paragraphs in your response.

Second, always include your personal perspective and comment on the subject matter of the topic you have chosen to discuss. Do not merely define the topic/subject matter.

Third, always be sure to cite a legitimate reference source related to your research findings – it’s ok to submit a direct quote but be sure to cite the reference in a formal APA (7th edition) bibliography format at the end of the assignment. The course textbook Introduction to Emergency Management (Haddow, 2020 / 7th edition), is acceptable as a reference, as you bought it and should use it accordingly. Again, however, be sure to cite other relevant sources. DO NOT simply cut/paste information, nor ever use Wikipedia, or you will reap what you sow!

Fourth, late submissions will not be accepted and will result in loss of grade points for the course.

Being a champion of change means promoting exploratory efforts and leading or supporting product evaluations to address inefficiency within the organization. This might be done by suggesting alternative technologies or processes, and by being a proponent of pilot testing promising solutions or software options in a live environment, such as volunteering to pilot test possible candidate technologies within ones own department.

Today, you are the CFO of DargeanGrix, Inc. If needed, review the document. Youve identified an area in the organization in which you think things can be improved, and you have an idea about how this can be done.

Imagine your team has been selected to consult for a community health care outreach organization that cares for homeless and low-income individuals. Because of the transient nature of these individuals, it is nearly impossible for them to maintain a comprehensive and easily accessible medical record. Your organization believes that personal health record (PHR) technology could help their constituents have access to a medical record anywhere and anytime. A local philanthropist has donated $10,000 toward this effort. The organization’s board has evaluated a variety of alternatives for PHR, recognizing the acquisition and operation costs and the limited available budget. They have decided the most cost-effective approach to providing PHRs is by using the PHR developed by the Veterans Affairs (VA) Health System that is available for free to anyone. Your goal is to develop a project management plan for the implementation of a web-based personal health record using the VA Health System’s MyHealth-e-Vet PHR.

Review the Business Case Summary for additional details regarding this cumulative project that is due in Week 5. Each week, your team will work on a different section of the plan. Your team must submit the draft of the assigned section as well as the team’s progress report to your facilitator each week.

Develop your project management plan using the CDC’s Project Management Plan Template.

Complete the following sections of your project management plan:

Section 1: Introduction
Section 2: Executive Summary of Project Charter
Section 3: Scope Management

METHODS OF DATA COLLECTION: Identify the Three Methods by which Nurses Obtain Community Assessment Data.

Community assessment data may be gathered in a variety of ways by nurses. For the fullest picture of a community in terms of health, nurses generally combine many different methods. The most apparent source of community knowledge is the government (Community toolbox, n.d.). Information from local companies and community groups is also available. To better serve their clients, companies may keep track of community statistics. It’s also possible for residents to provide vital information about their town.

Observation is a technique that nurses employ to collect data for community assessments. Go out into the community and observe people and their surroundings. For the nurse, this might be an excellent opportunity to acquire a sense of the community’s demographics and culture. Interviews are another way that nurses collect community assessment data. Individual or group discussions with members of the community are part of this process (Community toolbox, n.d.). This is a terrific approach to learning about the town and getting a feel for the people that live there. Finally, surveys may be used by nurses to gather information about the state of the community. People in the community will be asked to fill out a questionnaire as part of this process. This may be a terrific approach to quickly getting a significant quantity of data from many individuals. It’s common for nurses to utilize a mix of these strategies to gain the fullest picture of a community’s demographics (Community toolbox, n.d.).

As many people as possible should participate in stakeholder interviews to get a clear picture of the prospective community concerns and the perceived repercussions. There are a variety of ways to learn about your town. You may get information about the population, economics, and infrastructure of a community from the government. Information from local companies and community groups is also available. Keeping track of community information may help nurses better understand their patients’ demands and decide where to establish new operations. To better serve their goals, community groups may also gather information on their members and the community. Community members may have great information about their area and may be a good source of information for others.

The study of human societies using systems thinking has grown in popularity in recent years. The reason for this is that communities are made up of people who interact with each other and their surroundings. Systems thinking may help us better understand human societies and develop strategies to enhance their performance (Wells, 2020). If, for example, one section of a community is affected by a change in another area of the community, systems thinking may help us develop solutions that take this into consideration. Systems thinking may also help us better comprehend the function of communities in human systems (Wells, 2020).

Foundational Neuroscience

As a psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner, it is essential for you to have a strong background in foundational neuroscience. In order to diagnose and treat patients, you must not only understand the pathophysiology of psychiatric disorders but also how medications for these disorders impact the central nervous system. These concepts of foundational neuroscience can be challenging to understand. Therefore, this Discussion is designed to encourage you to think through these concepts, develop a rationale for your thinking, and deepen your understanding by interacting with your colleagues.

For this Discussion, review the Learning Resources and reflect on the concepts of foundational neuroscience as they might apply to your role as the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in prescribing medications for patients.

By Day 3 of Week 2

Post a response to each of the following:

Explain the agonist-to-antagonist spectrum of action of psychopharmacologic agents, including how partial and inverse agonist functionality may impact the efficacy of psychopharmacologic treatments.

Compare and contrast the actions of g couple proteins and ion gated channels.

Explain how the role of epigenetics may contribute to pharmacologic action.

Explain how this information may impact the way you prescribe medications to patients. Include a specific example of a situation or case with a patient in which the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner must be aware of the medication’s action.

Diversity and Health Assessments

May 2012, Alice Randall wrote an article for The New York Times on the cultural factors that encouraged black women to maintain a weight above what is considered healthy. Randall explained—from her observations and her personal experience as a black woman—that many African-American communities and cultures consider women who are overweight to be more beautiful and desirable than women at a healthier weight. As she put it, “Many black women are fat because we want to be” (Randall, 2012).

Randall’s statements sparked a great deal of controversy and debate; however, they emphasize an underlying reality in the healthcare field: different populations, cultures, and groups have diverse beliefs and practices that impact their health. Nurses and healthcare professionals should be aware of this reality and adapt their health assessment techniques and recommendations to accommodate diversity.

In this Discussion, you will consider different socioeconomic, spiritual, lifestyle, and other cultural factors that should be taken into considerations when building a health history for patients with diverse backgrounds. Your Instructor will assign a case study to you for this Discussion.

To prepare:

Reflect on your experiences as a nurse and on the information provided in this week’s Learning Resources on diversity issues in health assessments.

By Day 1 of this week, you will be assigned a case study by your Instructor. Note: Please see the “Course Announcements” section of the classroom for your case study assignment.

Reflect on the specific socioeconomic, spiritual, lifestyle, and other cultural factors related to the health of the patient assigned to you.

Consider how you would build a health history for the patient. What questions would you ask, and how would you frame them to be sensitive to the patient’s background, lifestyle, and culture? Develop five targeted questions you would ask the patient to build his or her health history and to assess his or her health risks.

Think about the challenges associated with communicating with patients from a variety of specific populations. What strategies can you as a nurse employ to be sensitive to different cultural factors while gathering the pertinent information?

By Day 3 of Week 2

Post an explanation of the specific socioeconomic, spiritual, lifestyle, and other cultural factors associated with the patient you were assigned. Explain the issues that you would need to be sensitive to when interacting with the patient, and why. Provide at least five targeted questions you would ask the patient to build his or her health history and to assess his or her health risks.

Instructions

The President and Crisis Management

Today is your presidential Inauguration Day. You were elected as president last November by a slim margin in both the popular vote and the electoral vote. You attended a worship service this morning with your family and about a dozen high-ranking members of the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate. Then, you and the current president took a ride in a convertible car to the U.S. Capitol, where you were sworn in as the new president of the United States. It is now official; you are the president!

As you and your family are enjoying the parade, your new chief of staff and one of the key military advisors who is a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff whispers to you that there has been a major cyberattack on key federal financial institutions across the United States that compromised the personal financial data and passwords of hundreds of thousands of citizens.

Even though you have held office for just a few hours, you know it is critical to act swiftly and decisively so that the perpetrators of the crime, the American citizens, and political leaders (those who support you and those who do not) see you as a competent and strong leader. What are your first three actions?

In your paper, you will describe these three actions in detail. Organization is important in this paper. Make certain to include the following information in your paper, and organize major sections using headings.

Briefly describe the cyberattack and its implications for the nation.

This section should be located early in the paper (i.e., in the first or second paragraph).

Do you know who the perpetrators are?

What was the goal of the crime?

How much damage was caused?

What is your first action?

Why is this action your first? Why is it so important?

What is the goal of the action? What purpose does it serve?

What individuals, groups, or organizations does it involve?

What is your second action?

Why is this action your second? Why is it so important?

What is the goal of the action? What purpose does it serve?

What individuals, groups, or organizations does it involve?

What is your third action?

Why is this action your third? Why is it so important?

What is the goal of the action? What purpose does it serve?

What individuals, groups, or organizations does it involve?

Provide a conclusion.

What are your next steps?

Briefly describe how your actions were limited by the U.S. Constitution. For example, you may feel constrained by the other two branches—powers denied to you by the U.S. Constitution or law (e.g., declaring war or appointing to key positions in your administration loyal and trusted friends without going through the formal appointment process or the civil services system).

Your paper must be 2–4 pages in length, not counting the title page and references page. Make certain to double-space, apply 1-inch margins, and use 12-point font. Utilize headings to separate major sections of your plan (e.g., First Action, Section Action). Cite all sources in-text and on the references page using APA Style.

Your paper must be submitted to SafeAssign using the SafeAssign Originality Checker, which is software that helps identify plagiarism. The SafeAssign Originality Checker can be found within the CSU Student Portal (under your list of courses). You can submit your paper within the checker more than once. Once you receive your SafeAssign results, you can correct any areas of your paper that have too closely matched the sources you used. Your paper should not have a score higher than 40%.

In addition to your textbook readings and the unit lesson for this unit, the following resources may be helpful as you complete the assignment. As aforementioned, make certain to cite all sources—in-text and on the references page—that you use to support your work.

Recruitment and Succession Plan

A key to tackling the talent war in the health sector is strategic planning for succession. At any given time, a senior member of your team could resign or suffer an unexpected health emergency. The only way to move forward without major organizational disruption is through planning for such occurrences. In this assessment, you will gain experience benchmarking succession planning strategies based on current trends.

Assume your highest performing tenured manager of a 20-person department unexpectedly submitted her 2 weeks’ notice. Your next most tenured employee in the department has only 2 years of experience and is not ready to assume the position at this time. Additionally, there is a major health care organization in your area that seems to have the first pick when recruiting the talent you really need. The executive team for your organization has asked you to address this situation.

Read “Using the Performance Values Matrix Alongside a 9-Box Grid” from Performance Culture, Inc.

Develop a 1,050- to 1,400-word strategic succession plan that addresses the following:

Priorities and steps to mitigate the impact of your employee’s rapid departure
A proposed recruitment plan to fill the managerial position
A preboarding checklist and onboarding plan covering an employee’s first 30, 90, and 180 days with performance metrics
Succession plan policies and practices that could be put in place to proactively avoid this situation
How the proposed plan aligns to current trends in the health care industry

Cite at least 3 reputable references to support your assignment (e.g., trade or industry publications, government or agency websites, scholarly works, or other sources of similar quality).

Assignment 2 Grading Criteria Maximum Points Described the ethical issues related to cultural competence. 20 Explained how one’s own personal values relate to diversity in the case study. 20 Made recommendations based on readings and the ethics codes. 20 Applied specific ethical principles. 20 Wrote in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrated ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and displayed accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation. 20 Total: 100 Course Case Study Joe, a thirty-five-year-old, male mental health counselor, received a client referral, thirty-five-year-old Jill, from a community counseling clinic. He began providing counseling services to her. Jill’s complaint was that she was unsatisfied with her current job as a bank teller and was experiencing mild anxiety and depression. Joe had been providing services to Jill for three weeks when she disclosed that she was confused about her sexuality because she experienced sexual attraction toward some women. Joe immediately responded to Jill with wide eyes and a shocked look. He told Jill that he was a traditional Catholic, who felt that this type of feeling was immoral and wrong. He informed her that she should avoid thinking about this and pray for forgiveness. He also told her that he felt uncomfortable talking about the issue any further. Jill continued to talk to Joe about dealing with her family issues. Joe had recently read about a new technique and immediately became excited about trying it. He explained to her that he had read an article in a magazine about a new technique called rebirthing. The new technique was being used in Europe to help people change their views about their relationships with their family. Joe said, “It is supposed to be really effective in almost wiping out your memory of your family; it is like hypnosis.” “I would really like to try it on you today, what do you think?” Jill declined his offer and continued to talk about her family. Joe thought to himself that even though Jill said no, he was still going to try to hypnotize her as they talked because he thought she could benefit from the technique. Jill disclosed that she was raised in a traditional Asian American home with many cultural influences and culture-specific rules and behavior. Jill was struggling with balancing her individualism and her cultural heritage. Joe explained to her that because he was living and working in a rural community, mostly consisting of people of East European descent, he could not relate to Jill’s culture and the issues with which she was struggling. He apologized and explained that he was not required to study these cultural issues because of his geographical location. Jill moved on to talk about her depression. She began talking about feeling lonely and how it contributed to her depression. During a counseling session several months later, she revealed that she was attracted to Joe and would like a closer, intimate relationship with him. Joe, aware that he was also attracted to Jill, talked about his feelings toward her but explained that engaging in a relationship outside the established counseling relationship was unethical. He informed her that because of the mutual feelings of attraction, the counseling relationship would be ineffective and that he would refer her to another counselor for continued services. Jill agreed, and they terminated the counseling relationship. Later, she contacted him to continue counseling and to discuss the referral. Joe agreed to meet her that evening at a restaurant and bring her the referral information. That night they began an intimate sexual relationship. Joe never got around to providing the referral for Jill even though he was aware of her ongoing state of depression and anxiety. Joe stopped seeing Jill after a month of intimate sexual encounters. Joe enjoyed the relationship but felt guilty due to the unethical nature of the relationship. Because of his continued concern about Jill’s depression, Joe considered going to his current clinical supervisor to discuss the case but decided against it. This was because he and his supervisor were good friends and he suspected his supervisor would be hurt by knowing the real reason he had been cancelling get-togethers. Joe decided to call Jill’s boss at the bank to check on her and see how she was doing. He called her boss and explained that he had been counseling her for anxiety and depression and wanted to check if she was Page 2 of 2 Ethics in Psychology © 2013 Argosy University 2 Course Case Study feeling fine. Her boss informed Joe that Jill had quit her job and was in the county hospital undergoing treatment for severe depression. Joe quickly hung up and decided not to call or visit the bank again. After thinking it over, Joe decided that general counseling might not be for him. He decided to begin marriage and family therapy. He ordered some business cards and advertised in the yellow pages. He thought, After all, I am a mental health counselor, and it can’t be hard to counsel a couple. You don’t need anything special. I already have one degree, and that’s enough![supanova_question]

The confession can be regarded as valid since, as the officer narrates once he got to the crime scene, he first searched the body, then begun searching the victim. While doing so, the suspect voluntarily relayed information that the weapon was used for the murder. From that point, the suspect was then placed under arrest (Find Law, 2019). Once in the station, when the suspect stated that they wanted to confess, the officer says that he read the Miranda warnings to the suspect. They were therefore presented with their waiver form for an attorney and allowed to make their confession and signed it at the end. The only issue I foresee with the confession is if Mr. Mayo was intoxicated at the time. In is confession he states that he had several alcoholic drinks prior to starting his shift as a bartender. If he is intoxicated then the officer should have never interrogated him until he was sober nor should they let him write out a signed confession until he was sober. Now if he is sober and can clearly understand his rights then the signed confession is valid. In the police report it states that Mr. Mayo wanted to make a full confession and prior to doing so the officer read him his Miranda rights, which makes the confession legal and valid. By having a further look at the suspect’s confession, it is understood that the suspect considered the case as self-defense. Before the suspect was even placed under arrest, they had already begun divulging details about the incident. However, that bit about the confession may be disregarded as hearsay. Regardless, after being placed in custody, the suspect had their rights read to them. After the officer stated the Miranda warnings, he then presented the suspect with the waiver, which was signed from where the officer recorded the confession, after which the suspect signed the confession. Concerning the signed confession, the officer had followed the required protocol and was right according to the law respond to this discussion question in 100 words[supanova_question]

Great post Belkis. Also, normal aging changes and the development of disease may precipitate transition from home to a variety of settings where nursing-focused assessments are performed. Care may be provided in hospitals; skilled nursing, long-term care, assisted-living, and acute rehabilitation facilities; and hospice, senior centers, homes, and clinics. The setting where care is provided usually determines the types of assessment and instruments used. However, the goal of the functional assessment remains the same: to identify an older adult’s strengths and any limitations so appropriate interventions will promote independence and prevent functional decline. Crypto Security Architecture Exercise (6 Pages In APA Format)

Crypto Security Architecture Exercise (6 Pages in APA format) Scenario You work for the Apex Trucking Company. This is a firm that moves materials for clients all over North America and Europe. The leadership of the company has no real knowledge of technology but wants to use encryption to protect the information the company has. The information to be protected consists of future marketing plans for the company, financial data, employee records, customer records, and customer shipment date. The company wants the capability to securely allow customers to track their orders in real-time from their origin to their destination on-line over the Internet. The information that is to be supplied to customers is tracking number, location of shipment, size of shipment, the value of shipment, and estimated time of arrival as well as the customer contact information for this shipment. While this information can be made available from a central server, the marketing groups in Europe, Mexico, and Canada need management access to the data to enter new shipments and change orders before they ship. The company currently is using desktops running Windows XP and Windows-based servers. There are only passwords used for security and a firewall, but no encryption to protect the information. The project is to provide the above capability securely using encryption, as well as providing additional security to the company via encryption. You will need to address new technology, the reasons and costs behind your choices, and what policy and legal implications there are to your encryption solution There is at least one marketing group in Mexico, Germany, and Canada, as well as three in the US. The company is based in New York. It is important that customers can rely on the shipping data being accurate, and from the company. You’re assigned this crypto architecture project. Configuration The current configuration has one server acting as a firewall and web server. This server is directly attached to the Internet. There is a database server behind the firewall, as well as a separate server for HR and marketing. The marketing server needs to be securely accessed by the marketing teams. They also need to access the database server through an Internet connection to manage data and display reports. All databases use MySQL and are currently not secured. Constraints Your tasking is crypto architecture. The normal replacement of computers is done on a rotating schedule. It is outside the scope of your project to plan for the replacement of computers. Your architecture should work with the computers you have. You may consider the replacement of equipment if an upgrade or new equipment would be critical to the crypto architecture. Specific Tasking You have been specifically tasked to do the following things and develop a complete and sound crypto architecture. Remember, the president is very knowledgeable about cryptography and wants lots of details about how you are going to implement the encryption. Describe in detail what new cryptographic systems you are going to propose, how they work, and how they will enhance security. Be specific about these systems weaknesses and how you plan to compensate for the weaknesses. Describe and explain the impact the new cryptographic security architecture will have on the current security features and how this impact will be mitigated. What new issues will arise as a result of implementing the new cryptographic solutions and what are the arguments on either side of these issues? Show a clear and detailed understanding of the existing encryption being used such as passwords, and operating encryption features not being used and whether you plan to use these or not, and if not why not. How well will all these new cryptographic features work together? Identify any areas of concern, and how you propose to resolve conflicts and issues. What if any current security features can be eliminated cost-effectively by the new crypto architecture? Have fun![supanova_question]

Response Wk 9

The aspect of adulthood that I chose to examine for this discussion is identity development within individuation. Identity development is the time in which an individual tries to figure out who they are, in relation to early adulthood, this is seen as an individual trying to choose their major at college. Throughout this process in early adulthood, individuals engage in this vicious cycle of deciding something and then looking back on said decision to see if it was the right one (Berk, 2014). In terms of individuation, this process allows for an individual to really look inwards and construct their own identity, as the individual is constantly reviewing said decisions. Although this process allows individuals to self-realize, there is still a constant want and need to fit into society, individuals who do not make a commitment tend to be anxious, adjust poorly to new situations, depressed, along with other negative behaviors (Berk, 2014). One of the biggest challenges faced between the idea of individuation and identity development, in our college example, is the idea of choosing a major that the individual is interested in or choosing a major that your friends are participating in. A challenge that can be seen cross-culturally about individuation as well, is the idea of a culture that supports individuation, versus one that supports conformism. Take Japan and the United States, for example, Japan’s identity development is one that shows a very linear line of development as they value others’ opinions of themselves, stable relationships, and assurance with personal relationships (Rothbaum, 2003) whereas the United States values a more individualistic approach on development as children can focus on their personal preferences, and an emphasis on trust in relationships (Rothbaum, 2003). Although one style of identity development has not been proven to be better than the other, it can clearly be seen that there are several differences. References: Berk, L. E. (2014). Initial argument paper attached, PLEASE SEE ATTACHMENT Here are the steps to prepare to write the counterargument paper: Begin reviewing your previous paper paying particular attention to suggestions for improvement made by your instructor. Revise your argument, improving it as much as possible, accounting for any suggestions and in light of further material you have learned in the course. If your argument is inductive, make sure that it is strong. If your argument is deductive, make sure that it is valid. Construct what you take to be the strongest possible argument for a conclusion contrary to the one you argued for in your Week One paper. This is your counterargument. This should be based on careful thought and appropriate research. Consider the primary points of disagreement between the point of view of your original argument and that of the counterargument. Think about what you take to be the strongest objection to your original argument and how you might answer the objection while being fair to both sides. Search in the Ashford University Library for quality academic sources that support some aspect of your argument or counterargument. In your paper, Present a revised argument in standard form, with each premise and the conclusion on a separate line. Present a counterargument in standard form, with each premise and the conclusion on a separate line. Provide support for each premise of your counterargument. Clarify the meaning of the premise and supporting evidence for the premise. Pay special attention to those premises that could be seen as controversial. Evidence may include academic research sources, supporting arguments, or other ways of demonstrating the truth of the premise (for more ideas about how to support the truth of premises take a look at the instructor guidance for this week). This section should include at least one scholarly research source. For guidance about how to develop a conclusion see the Ashford Writing Center’s Introductions and Conclusions. Explain how the conclusion of the counterargument follows from its premises. [One paragraph] Discuss the primary points of disagreement between sincere and intelligent proponents of both sides. [One to two paragraphs] For example, you might list any premises or background assumptions on which you think such proponents would disagree and briefly state what you see as the source of the disagreement, you could give a brief explanation of any reasoning that you think each side would find objectionable, or you could do a combination of these. Present the best objection to your original argument. Clearly indicate what part of the argument your objection is aimed at, and provide a paragraph of supporting evidence for the objection. Reference at least one scholarly research source. [One to two paragraphs][supanova_question]

You have to use this format and Quick Note: You will notice that the textbook assigned to this class uses Wikipedia as a resource. However, I want to point out that you should not use Wikipedia as a source for your coursework. Here’s an article discussing the limitations of Wikipedia. http://www.findingdulcinea.com/news/education/2010/march/The-Top-10-Reasons-Students-Cannot-Cite-or-Rely-on-Wikipedia.html Example: Science in the Social Sciences The textbook begins with a quote from Albert Einstein: ?Science is the attempt to make the chaotic diversity of our sense-experience correspond to a logically uniform system of thought (p. 5). – Truth is not created. It is discovered. Science is an organized attempt to discover truth. The book clarifies the 3 main categories of science: 1) Natural: study of natural phenomena (cosmological, geological, chemical, biological, etc.) 2) Formal: study of math and logic that use an a priori, rather than factual, methodology (basically, a priori is knowledge that we have and can apply , rather than needing to measure something to gain knowledge about it) 3) Social: study of human behavior and sciences Einstein was a theoretical physicist; this falls under formal sciences. He did not like things that were unpredictable an he was bothered by chaos. He tried to find ways to predict the unpredictable. In this class: We are interested in social sciences, and in particular how that knowledge can be applied to help systems of all sizes. Human services apply methods and findings from social science to improve the lives of people (individuals, groups – such as families, and larger social context – communities). At the same time, all sciences have a lot in common. The textbook discusses the example of chaos theory. Chaos theory is a branch of mathematics (which is a science itself). Chaos theory deals with conditions where prediction is not possible. – Chaotic diversity describes things on the quantum level and the human condition – Chaos theory has implications when working with people; this was recently realized – Human Services dislike chaos; we want to explain, possibly predict, and prevent human misery * We can take another look at Einstein’s quote: ?Science is the attempt to make the chaotic diversity of our sense-experience correspond to a logically uniform system of thought (p. 5). He is telling us: – we have a rich and imaginative sensory capacity that provides us with a vast way of experiencing and interpreting our world – at the same time (from an evolutionary standpoint) our sensory capacity is built for survival in the heat of the moment, rather than cool calculation of empirical analysis – Things like intuition and instinct are useful, but we can add science to our toolbox. Through science, we can explore our world in a way to test our assumption and theories. Science helps us increase our rational understanding of the world. Who talks more? Knowledge through theories/assumptions vs Knowledge through Science Many people believe that women tend to talk more than men. – Some have suggested the difference has a biological basis – One estimated that’s often cited is that women spoke 20,000 words p/day and men spoke 7,000 words p/day. – The claim seemed plausible, and a group of psychologists decided to find out if it was true. What did they do? 1) Checked the literature to see if anyone had actually counted (no one had). Instead, they just found theories and assumptions that were often based on cultural stereotypes 2) Conducted a research study with 369 men and women. They concluded men and women speak roughly the same amount. * This study is used as an example to show that research can show us that sometimes what we think is true, really isn’t. * Why is this important in the field of Human Services? – Because what we believe about people, and how they behave, is fundamental to effectively work with clients. What we believe can sometimes be wrong, inaccurate, or incomplete. – We should keep in mind as professionals, whenever possible, to act according to the best information that we have on hand. This means we need to be informed as to what science has empirically indicated. Understanding Science Science and Human Services Human Services is a profession, rather than a science. It draws on our profession’s research, as well as the research of colleagues in other disciplines such as social work, anthropology, sociology, education, etc. So, Human Services is interdisciplinary. – Some disciplines are considered social science (like psychology) and some are considered professions (like Human Services) – We are all engaged in research to find the best methods for helping the human condition – Human Service professionals engage in the research process; human services practice should be based on empirical research whenever possible. Empirically Based Research This is considered a best practice, and Human Service practitioners should try to only use techniques, methods, and approaches that are empirically derived. Empirically based practice means using quality research from peer reviewed sources in your professional practice. How? – professional journals – online databases – continuing education – assessing the results of your practice in an ethical way The Emergence of Science and the Scientific Method The scientific method is ?a method or procedure that has characterized natural science since the 17th century, consisting in systematic observation, measurement, and experiment, and the formulation, testing, and modification of hypotheses. (according to Oxford Dictionaries Online) – The method has expanded from the natural sciences into social sciences to include disciplines such as anthropology, sociology, psychology, social work, and Human Services. A few important people in the emergence of science. Throughout history, people have struggled to make this unpredictable and sometimes dangerous place more tolerable and predictable. – Francis Bacon (1561 – 1626): considered first person to conceptualize scientific method – Galileo (1564 – 1642) – Copernicus (1473 – 1543) – Plato, Socrates, and Aristotle – Knowledge has been gained slowly, but it accumulates over the years. – The scientific method was just one innovation, but it forms the foundation for all modern research. We have a legal, moral, and ethical responsibility to our profession, ourselves, society, and our clients to use science. * while not all Human Service practitioners are engages in research, all practitioners are consumers of research in their personal and professional lives. What are the Modern Features of Science? 1) Systematic Empiricism 2) Scientific Approach 3) Public Knowledge 1) Systematic Empiricism: learning based on observation. – Scientists learn about the world by carefully planning observations, making observations, recording observations, and analyzing those observations – A lot of what we know (which may or may not be true) is acquired haphazardly – Within science, logical reasoning and creativity play important roles. Scientists are unique in their insistence on checking ideas about the way the world seems to be. – Instead of knowledge through tradition, superstition, guessing, etc., science uses systematic observation to gain knowledge. Look at the ?Who Talks More example; the researchers did not trust other people’s stereotypes or their own informal observations. Instead, they systematically recorded, counted, and compared the number of words spoken by a large sample of women and men. Summary The textbook discusses the concept of science and how it relates to Human Services. Through discussion and examples, the important role that research plays in Human Services is addressed. Human Service professionals need to understand and utilize research and its scientific principles in order to effectively do their job, and not rely on informal observations, guessing, traditions, etc. for knowledge when working with clients. While Human Service practitioners may not conduct research, it’s crucial to understand how scientific research fits into practice. In my past work experiences, I have used the research of others, as well as conducted my own research, and so I’ve found what is said on these pages to be very true. To better comprehend situations and provide the best services, practitioners need to be able to understand and utilize the concepts of social research.[supanova_question]

Human Computer Interface (HCI)

Everything we touch that is electronic has a Human to Computer Interface (HCI). Some companies put a lot of effort into the user experience; some, not so much. Some are very complex with enormous functionality (computer operating systems and smartphones) and some are much simpler (ATMs, gas station pumps, lottery ticket machines, movie dispensing machines). For this assignment, choose either a simple interface (one with a few options) or a singular function of a more complex item (like a singular function of your smartphone, such as to create and send an email). Remember that there are several options for many of these. Visit the interface that you chose. NOTE: Keep your selection to something simple, as you will find there are many options even in a simple task. Write a paper in which you address the following: Research history and background of the HCI (just a few of paragraphs). From your chosen HCI, describe all the steps and options that are available to use and complete the task. Build an Activity Diagram such as those on pages 138 Figure 5-5 and 139 Figure 5-6 of the textbook. Use Visio, MS Word or your choice of program that can create an activity diagram. YOU NEED TO CREATE THE DIAGRAM, NOT TAKE ONE FROM THE INTERNET. Reflect on the experience. Do you feel the process you chose was well designed? Do you think it can be improved? Use at least 2 quality resources. NOTE: Wikipedia and similar websites do not qualify as quality resources.[supanova_question]

Project 3: SDN And IBN Assignment

Instructions Software-defined networking (SDN) and intent-based networking (IBN) offer an ability to revolutionize the modern network architecture. Both of these concepts are relatively new, and your chief technology officer (CTO) has only heard them in passing. In fact, she pawned them off as the new marketing fad dressed up as a new concept. Since you have researched both technologies, you understand this is not a fad. When used in combination with virtualization and cloud computing, you know SDN and IBN could revolutionize how the organization operates, providing for reduced costs, efficiency, better management of the network assets, and security. However, you need to develop a white paper for the Caduceus CTO to highlight these benefits. Given the CTO has only heard the term in passing, you must describe in this white paper, the SDN and IBN concepts, their benefits, and what it would take for the organization to implement. Writing Your Paper In your white paper, use additional sources of information but also describe the concept in layman’s terms. Use visuals where appropriate. Describe how an SDN/IBN architecture would look different than network architectures we have traditionally deployed. Compare and contrast the network architectures and discuss the pros and cons of each. The paper should include the following sections: introduction to software-defined networking (SDN) (discussed in Week 3) introduction to intent-based networking (IBN) (discussed in Week 4) discussion on how virtualizing the desktop and now back-end infrastructure are complementary and related discussion of how SDN and IBN are related[supanova_question]

Written Assignment (IRAC #1)

Written Assignment #1 (IRAC) Issue Rule Analysis Conclusion IRAC Scenario Greenacre High School (GHS) and Yellowacre High School (YHS) have been rivals for over 30 decades. Every April the there is a tournament at GHS were teams from across the state play for the coveted ?County Trophy, in which the winning team is crowned the state champions. This year the final game is between GHS and YHS. Bob is an all-star player on the GHS basketball team. Bob is jealous of Jack (YHS) because Jack has already been offered basketball scholarships at two separate Division I universities. Bob works as a barista at Starbucks in Greenacre. The day morning of ?game day, Jack enters into Starbucks and orders a hot Carmel Macchiato. In an attempt to injure Jack before the game, Bob makes sure that the drink is extra hot, and lid isn’t securely fastened on the cup. Bob is hoping that the hot coffee would fly out of the cup and burn Jack. As Bob hands the drink to Jack he pretends to slip, and although Jack attempted to move out of the way of the flying coffee, he’s unable to avoid the hot coffee. The coffee causes 1st degree burns to Jack’s hands. Jack is rushed to the hospital and misses the championship game. Jack has brought a lawsuit against Bob for assault and battery. Based on above scenario (facts), students should prepare an IRAC on assault (IRAC #1) and a separate IRAC on battery (IRAC#2). Follow these instructions! Discuss the legal issues pertaining to Bob’s actions. You need to prepare a separate IRAC for each of the Issues (Assault and Battery). Which means you must prepare an IRAC for Assault (Issue, Rule, Analysis and Conclusion) and then a totally different IRAC for Battery (Issue, Rule, Analysis and Conclusion). This is true with every issue. NEVER discuss more than one issue at a time and never state more than one rule at a time. Please see below for additional instructions on how to complete an IRAC. Also review the supplemental material in the rear of the textbook. Rules (I’m giving students the rules to use. Don’t use any other rules!!!!) Assault – An intentional act causing a person reasonable apprehension or fear of an immediate harmful or offensive contact. Battery – An intentional act causing harmful or offensive contact to another person. This is how you get started! (You MUST copy the IRAC template that I have completed below and finish each sentence. When I say, finish each sentence, I mean the sentences that have the ellipsis (. . .) I highlighted the template in yellow ). You will notice that in the analysis, I have start with the first element followed by the word “because”. This is how every IRAC will be analyzed throughout the semester. (Elements followed by “because” or why) IRAC #1 Issue: Did Bob commit assault? Rule: An intentional act causing a person reasonable apprehension or fear of an immediate harmful or offensive contact. Analysis: Bob’s committed an intentional act because . . . Jack had a reasonable apprehension or fear of an immediate harmful or offensive contact because . . . (If you don’t think that Bob’s act was intentional, you would say, Bob did not commit an intentional act because . . .) Conclusion: Therefore Bob is/isn’t liable for Assault (Based on your analysis you must indicate one or the other – is or isn’t)[supanova_question]

Week 5 – Interactive Assignment 2 2 Unread Replies. 2 2 Replies. Psychoeducational Tool: The Client Handout. Prior to beginning work on this interactive assignment, please review Cases 18, 19, and 20 in Case Studies in Abnormal Psychology (Gorenstein & Comer 2015) and any relevant Instructor Guidance. In practice, clinical and counseling psychologists utilize psychoeducational tools (e.g., bibliotherapy, client handouts, worksheets, etc.) to enhance the client’s knowledge about mental health issues, coping strategies, and resources. For this interactive assignment, you will create a visually interesting client handout based on the case study chosen for the Psychiatric Diagnosis assignment in PSY645 and your Week Six Psychological Treatment Plan in this course. You must attach your client handout document to your initial post in the forum. The client handout will include the following required elements. Education: Explain, with as much visual information as possible, the client’s cognitive or behavioral symptoms based on your selected theoretical orientation. You may choose to create diagrams, figures, or charts to illustrate the relationship between the client’s cognitions, affect, and behavior. Intervention: Create a self-help exercise (e.g., a dysfunctional thought record, meditation, deep breathing, guided imagery, muscle relaxation, thought stopping, etc.) to assist the client in monitoring or reducing maladaptive cognitions, affect, and/or behavior outside of therapeutic sessions. Include an explanation about how the handout could be useful in reducing the client’s symptoms. You may choose to visually represent this exercise with charts, scripts, steps, or other media. Resources: Assess current trends in psychotherapy, and list complete APA reference entries for five sources that would help the client learn more about his or her presenting problem(s), early warning signs of relapse, and managing symptoms. Please include hyperlinks if such exist for your resources. Guided Response: Review several of your colleagues’ posts and respond to at least two of your peers, including one response that covers a case different from the one you chose by 11:59 p.m. on Day 7 of the week. You are encouraged to post your required replies earlier in the week to promote more meaningful interactive discourse in this discussion. Review your classmate’s handout and provide feedback regarding each component of the document. Provide an evaluation of your peer’s explanation of the client’s symptoms, and share an alternative explanation using a different theoretical orientation. Suggest ways in which the document might be improved, and include a rationale for all modifications. Recommend two bibliotherapy resources to supplement the handout. Part C Is Only My Part

RMD 620 Week 3 Exam #1 Note: Submissions will not be accepted after grades for this assignment have been posted. Alternate assignments are not available. This early assignment should give you a chance to check your understanding of the course material so you can change, if needed, before the semester progresses too far. This test is not intended to cover all the key points about the material you’ve read in the first three weeks; the reading material we’ve had so far may also be included in following, more extensive tests. Instructions: Each class is likely to be different. If you assume you know what is required, you may make a mistake that can be avoided just by reading the instructions. Post your Answer Sheet in your individual assignment folder by the due date listed in the Course Schedule. Please post on time to avoid the 5% per day late penalty required by departmental policy. Remember the late window begins at 12:00 a.m. the next day. Please don’t ask me after the deadline to waive a late penalty. If you’re having a problem that matches the criteria in the grading policy, contact me before the deadline. I help when I can. (See the Grading Information in the syllabus.) Please work alone; this is not a group assignment. Do not use any work that has been submitted to a previous class. (See the Grading Information in the syllabus. This is also part of the Academic Integrity pledge you signed.) Do not use a cover sheet. Just be sure your name is on the Answer Sheet. The blank Answer Sheet is in the Course Content area, in the same place as the exam. Remember to use a Word .doc or .docx file format to ensure I can open your work. (See the Grading Information in the syllabus.) Please do not retype the information or annotate your multiple-choice response. Any confusion in the answer will be interpreted as an error. Just list the response by the number on the Answer Sheet. Please do use APA to reference your essay/case response. Create a reference list at the end and use the (author, year) format within the text; or, if it is a direct quote, the (author, year, page number) format. Please do not start a new page only for the reference list; just space down after your last response. Please realize that I cannot answer questions that are actually part of the test itself. That violates testing methodology. I can address ?administrative type questions. Post questions to the Exam 1 discussion area (vs. email) so everyone will have the same information. Please be sure you have submitted the document you intended. Double-check by opening your document in your folder after you’ve submitted it. Tips for Success Be sure you have answered all the questions. From time to time, I see students number incorrectly or omit questions. Allow sufficient time to think, revise, and think again about your answers before producing the final document. As soon as you have the exam, read what is needed. During the week, think about how to answer the questions. Jot down ideas to consider. Create an outline of the content you want to include in the written portion. Then, assemble the parts into a coherent response. Use the free writing support tools that are accessed via the classroom. Allow enough time for the writing tutors to assist. Access to that service is in the Content area. Part A – Knowledge Check (20% of the test; 2 points each) T or F: The National Labor Relations Act applies to non-union companies. T or F: As the primary union in the U.S., the key function of the AFL-CIO is to negotiate contracts. T or F: The Mainstream Economics school of thought about labor relations relies on free-market competition to determine the price of labor; and, as such, sees unions as interference in that process. T of F: The Wagner Act governs labor relations for United Airlines. T or F: Unions seek to give equity and voice a place in decisions that might otherwise be driven by efficiency. T or F: The Haymarket Tragedy was part of the struggle for an 8-hour workday. T or F: In the U.S., the default policy for the employment relationship is the employment-at-will doctrine; but, federal policy also encourages the use of collective bargaining which limits it. 8. T or F: Overall union density has decreased since the 1970s because the private sector growth has increased while the public sector membership has declined. 9. T or F: Current U.S. labor law is based on the assumption that a balance between management’s and labor’s power benefits society in general. 10. T or F: Property rights are a major basis for management’s authority and control. Part B – Case Analysis (18% of the test; 3 points each) Earl’s supervisor instructed him to write the monthly report for the county government’s Agency for Municipal Parks. Feeling overworked, he complained to Matt, a peer with the same job classification. Earl remarked that this was beyond the scope of his job description. Matt agreed. He said that funding for the county’s public parks programs was cut in the last election, so everyone was being asked to double-up on responsibilities. Earl suggested calling a meeting of all the Assistants in the department to see what could be done. T or F: The concerted activity provision of NLRA Section 7 would protect this group of Assistants if they encountered retaliation for challenging the supervisor’s direction. Six workers in a retail store were in the break room discussing the raise they expected to receive next month. They noted that it was not as much as last year’s raise. They wondered how they could request an increase and agreed to work together to find a way. They lowered their voices when the HR Director came in for a cup of coffee because discussing people’s compensation was against company policy. Two weeks later, the 6 workers were terminated. They were the only employees to be let go. They were surprised and began to compare notes. They knocked on the HR Director’s door to ask for an explanation. The HR Director explained that the company appreciated their contributions but reminded them that, as they acknowledged when they were hired, their employment was at-will. That meant the company did not need to give a reason and there was nothing more to be done. T or F: The HR Director’s explanation that the state’s employment-at-will doctrine will be the legal framework to govern this scenario was correct. Erin and 3 of her co-workers have a standard set of lotto numbers that they collectively play each week. If they ever match the winning ticket, they will split the money. On her Facebook page, Erin posts that she can’t wait to win so she can quit work. The others respond in agreement. T or F: If management fired them for gambling at work, the NLRA Section 7 concerted activity provision would protect this group. When the manager of business operations told Paula that she had to work on the night shift at the retail store for the next few months, she left him a note saying this was unfair and she would not do it. The manager called her the next day to see why she objected. Paula said she did not have someone to look after her child at night. The manager replied that she was the last one to be hired and she would have to make arrangements to do it. Paula said this was discrimination, and the discussion became heated. The manager fired her. T or F: If Paula filed a complaint under the NLRA, the Section 7 concerted activity provision would protect her. When the owner of an urgent care company announced to his staff of 10 that he would immediately cut wages by 10% to save the business from bankruptcy, employees were stunned and unhappy. After several conversations, they decided to write a joint, anonymous, respectful letter to express staff concerns and offer alternatives for saving money, such as eliminating the employer match to the 401K fund. The letter was written by the center’s physician’s assistant and edited by its radiation technologist. It was then left unsigned on the doctor’s desk. During the next few weeks, the owner met with individual employees in an attempt to learn who wrote the letter, and the atmosphere became increasingly tense. He accused several employees of whispering and cliquish behavior, and repeatedly complained of ?toxic talk and negativity. A little over three weeks after the letter was delivered, the technologist was fired. The owner then learned by examining the technologist’s work emails that the physician’s assistant had written the letter. The next day, she was fired as well. T or F: The letter meets the legal criteria for a concerted activity. Brittney transferred to HR a couple months ago from an assistant’s position in the marketing department. Her first major assignment has been to update the employee handbook. She has been gathering examples from other organizations to copy into her draft. Here is one she is recommending because it seems clear and specific. It easy to understand. Unauthorized Interviews: As a means of protecting yourself and the company, no unauthorized interviews are permitted to be conducted by individuals representing themselves as attorneys, peace officers, investigators, reporters, union representatives, or someone who wants to ?ask a few questions. If you are asked questions about the company or its current or former employees, you are not permitted to speak as a representative of the company. Please refer that individual(s) to your supervisor. A decision will then be made as to whether that individual may conduct any interview and they will be introduced to you by your supervisor with a reason for the questioning. Similarly, if you are aware that an unauthorized interview is occurring at the company, immediately notify your supervisor. T or F: Having this rule is illegal under the June, 2018 NLRB’s guidelines. Part C – Case Analysis (62% of the test) In the case below, an employee files a Section 8(a)1 complaint with the NLRB against his employer for firing him. The employer asserts that it has terminated the employee lawfully. After reading the facts of the case, explain what the decision should be (who should win). Also explain any remedies that are needed. Be sure to identify the legal concepts involved and use details from the case to show evidence in support of your position. Please limit your analysis to 2-3 double-spaced pages. Tip – Consider: What is the employee’s argument? Why does he think he was fired? In his view, which specific provision in the NLRA was broken? What does the provision require? Using the NLRA requirements, discuss whether the facts in this case support the employee’s position that his termination constituted an unlawful labor practice. What is the employer’s argument? Why did it fire the employee? Does the NLRA prohibit that reason? Using the NLRA requirements, discuss whether the facts in this case support the employer’s decision to terminate the employee. As the NLRB judge, who do you think is right? Which side has the right reason, legal framework, and details (evidence) to support its interpretation of the law? If a violation occurred, what needs to be done to correct it? (This is the remedy.) Car Dealer’s Case Organization This company has two dealerships in Springfield, Illinois; one sells trucks, and the other sells luxury cars. Jack, the employee who was fired, began working at the truck dealership in 2002. He changed to the luxury dealership in 2008 where he worked until he was fired in 2014. People Involved Compensation Plan There are three contributing elements to the pay of the salespersons: the first is a 25-percent commission of the profit derived from the sale of the vehicle, the profit being the difference between the selling price and the cost of the vehicle. The second element is based upon volume; in order to qualify for this bonus, the salesperson must sell 12 cars in a month, including, at least, 2 used cars. The final element is the Customer Satisfaction Index, which is based upon survey questionnaires sent to customers who purchased a car. Employee Handbook The employee handbook included the following rule: (b) Courtesy: Courtesy is the responsibility of every employee. Everyone is expected to be courteous, polite and friendly to our customers, vendors and suppliers, as well as to their fellow employees. No one should be disrespectful or use profanity or any other language which injures the image or reputation of the Dealership. Facebook Postings The event pages are entitled: ?(luxury) 2014 5 Series Soiree. On the first page, Jack posted: ?I was happy to see that (dealer) went ?All Out’ for the most important launch of a new (luxury car) in years . . . the new 5 series. A car that will generate tens in millions of dollars in revenues for the dealer over the next few years. The small 8 oz bags of chips, and the $2.00 cookie plate from Sam’s Club, and the semi fresh apples and oranges were such a nice touch . . . but to top it all off . . . the Hot Dog Cart. Where our clients could attain an overcooked wiener and a stale bun. Underneath were comments by Jack’s relatives and friends, followed by Jack’s responses. On the following page there is a picture of Dutch with his arm around the woman serving the hot dogs, and the following page has a picture of Dutch with a hot dog. Page 4 shows the snack table with cookies and fruit. Page 5 shows one of the sales people holding bottles of water, with a comment posted by Jack: ?No, that’s not champagne or wine, it’s 8 oz. water. Pop or soda would be out of the question. In this photo, a salesperson is seen coveting the rare vintages of water that were available for our guests. Page 6 shows the sign depicting the new luxury 5 Series car with Jack’s comment below: ?This is not a food event. What ever made you realize that? The final two pages again show the food table and Dutch holding a hot dog. The pictures of the truck accident, as well as Jack’s comments, on the Facebook page were: The caption is ?This is your car: This is your car on drugs. The first picture shows the car, the front part of which was in the pond. The salesperson with a blanket around her is sitting next to a woman, and a young boy is holding his head. Jack wrote, ?This is what happens when a sales person sitting in the front passenger seat (Former Sales Person, actually) allows a 13 year old boy to get behind the wheel of a 6000 lb. truck built and designed to pretty much drive over anything. The kid drives over his father’s foot and into the pond in all about 4 seconds and destroys a $50,000 truck. OOOPS! There are a number of comments on the first page, one of which was from an employee of the company in the warranty department, stating: ?How did I miss all the fun stuff? On the second page, under the photo of the car in the pond, Jack wrote: ?I love this one . . . The kid’s pulling his hair out . . . Du, what did I do? Oh no, is Mom gonna give me a time out? Below, there were comments from two of the company’s employees. On a separate Facebook page, one of a service advisor employed by the company, there was Jack’s picture of the car in the pond with the service advisor’s own comment: ?Finally, some action at our truck store. Sequence of Events Unless otherwise noted, the parties essentially do not dispute these facts. Unless otherwise indicated, all dates referred to here are for 2014. Sometime between June 5 and June 9 All the sales people met in Sam’s office to discuss the upcoming event. Sam told them about the event, the incentives being offered, and what was expected of them. Sam testified that someone asked about the food but he doesn’t remember what was said. He did say the sales people rolled their eyes ?in amazement. Jack testified this scenario: He told Sam, ?I can’t believe we’re not doing more for this event. Greg said the same thing and added: ?This is a major launch of a new product and . . . we just don’t understand what the thought is behind it. Sam responded: ?This is not a food event. After the meeting the sales people spoke more about it and Greg told Jack that at a competing luxury car’s dealership they served hors d’oeuvres with servers. Greg also said, ?We’re the bread and butter store in the auto park and we’re going to get the hot dog cart. As to why this was important, Jack testified: Everything in life is perception. X [ is] a luxury brand and . . . what I’ve talked about with all my co-workers was the fact that what they were going to do for this event was absolutely not up to par with the image of the brand, the ultimate driving machine, a luxury brand. And we were concerned about the fact that it would . . . affect our commissions, especially in the sense that it would affect . . . how the dealership looks and, how it’s presented . . . when somebody walks into our dealership . . . it’s a beautiful auto park . . . it’s a beautiful place . . . and if you walk in and you sit down and your waiter serves you a happy meal from McDonald’s. The two just don’t mix . . . we were very concerned about the fact . . . that it could potentially affect our bottom line. June 9 The car promotion event occurred at the luxury dealer. The car being introduced was a new model in their ?bread and butter line. The event was significant enough for the car manufacturers to attend and help sell to the customer. Jack took pictures of the sales people holding hot dogs, water and Doritos and told them that he was going to post the pictures on his Facebook page. June 14 At the company’s truck dealership, an accident occurred. A salesperson was showing a customer a truck and allowed the customer’s 13-year-old son to sit in the driver’s seat of it while the sales person was in the passenger seat, apparently, with the door open. The customer’s son must have stepped on the gas pedal; the truck drove down a small embankment, drove over the foot of the customer into an adjacent pond, and the salesperson was thrown into the water (but was unharmed, otherwise). Jack was told of the truck incident and could see it from the facility. He got his camera and took pictures of the truck in the pond. June 14 Jack posted comments and pictures of the luxury event of June 9 as well as the truck accident of June 14 on his Facebook page. June 15 The company representatives had learned of, and had been given copies of, Jack’s Facebook postings for both the event and the accident. Sam asked Jack to remove the postings, which he did. June 16 At Harry’s request, Jack met with him, Pete, and Sam in a conference room at the dealership to discuss the postings. Harry tossed copies of the Facebook pages at him and said, ?What were you thinking? Jack responded that it was his Facebook page and his friends: ?It’s none of your business. Harry responded, ?That’s what you’re going to claim? Jack affirmed, ?That’s exactly what I’m going to claim. Harry again asked what he was thinking and Jack said that he wasn’t thinking anything. Harry said that they received calls from two other dealers and that he thoroughly embarrassed all management and ?all of your coworkers and everybody that works at the dealership. Pete then said, ?You know, Jack, the photos at the truck dealership are one thing, but the photos at the luxury dealer, that’s a whole different ball game. Jack responded that he understood. Harry then said that they were going to have to think about what they were going to do with him, and that they would contact him. Meanwhile, he was told to hand in the key to his desk. On the way out, Jack told Sam that there was no maliciousness on his part and Sam told him to let things settle down, and he left. After he got home, Jack called Pete and apologized for what had occurred; Pete testified that he does not recall receiving any apology from Jack. Jack later called Dick and apologized to him as well. Dick told him that he should have apologized during the meeting with Harry, Pete, and Sam. Notes of this June 16 meeting, taken by Pete, state that the meeting was to discuss: . . . several negative articles on his Facebook directly pertaining to situations which happened at the dealership. We were alerted to this action by receiving calls from other truck dealers who saw pictures/comments (negative) on the internet. Harry showed Jack copies of the postings and posed the question what was Jack thinking to do such a . . . thing to the company. (One posting was regarding the accident at truck dealer when a truck was driven into the lake and the second was surrounding our new 5 Series luxury car event.) Harry testified that at the June 16 meeting he handed Jack the postings and asked why he would do that and Jack said that it was his Facebook and he could do what he wanted. He ended the meeting by telling Jack to go home and that they would review this issue and get back to him. June 21 A meeting of Dick, Bill, Harry, Sam, Pete, and Bob. Harry later testified that he saw both postings, but: ?I will tell you that the thing that upset me more than anything else was the truck issues. The luxury car issue, to me, was somewhat comical, if you will . . . if it had been that, that would have been it. But, no, it was the truck issue. ?It was¦making light of an extremely serious situation¦somebody was injured and¦doing that would just not be accepted. Harry said the meeting ?centered on the posting of the accident, ?it was 90% of the discussion. The other one was mentioned because we had that; but, that’s not why we made a decision to terminate Jack. Sam testified that during the meeting there was discussion about the June 9 event and the accident, but: ?The basis of the decision to terminate was the posting of the accident at the truck store. June 22 Jack was terminated. Jack said Harry told him, ?We all took a vote and nobody wants you back…and the only thing that we ask is that you never set foot on the premises. Jack said he told Harry that he understood and that was the end of the conversation. The memo put in Jack’s personnel file, dated June 22, from Harry, states: I told Jack [of the June 21 meeting] . . . that it was a unanimous decision to terminate his employment because he had made negative comments about the company in a public forum and had made light on the internet of a very serious incident (truck had jumped the curbing and ended up in a pond) that embarrassed the company. I told him that we could not accept his behavior and he was not to return to work. Nov. 30 The unfair labor practice charge was filed. July 19, 2015 Bill and Harry sent a memo to all employees stating: Because our employee handbook has not been updated since 2007, we have been in the process of updating and amending it for several months. We expect to have the finalized draft to you within the month. However in the meantime, please be aware of the following area in which a significant change is being made. If you have issues relating to these areas prior to the issuance of the new handbook, please see Harry. –Courtesy — This policy is being rescinded effective immediately. While there may be some additional changes and/or additions, the foregoing lets you know, in general terms, where a key change will be. Again, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. July 21, 2015 At the Administrative Law Judge’s hearing, the complaint was amended to include: Since at least August 28, 2007, the company has maintained the Courtesy rule in its employee handbook that contains language that makes it unlawful. The company defended that it had already taken care of that issue by rescinding the policy and notifying the employees.[supanova_question]

Market Segmentation and the Identification of Target Markets This discussion will allow you to obtain additional information for the Marketing Mix section of your Final Project. Specifically, you will generate content that will support the marketing segmentation and target market elements of the Marketing Mix section of your project. As discussed in Chapter 9, current healthcare organizations are providing a greater degree of services to their patients based on consumer demand. Many organizations have broken or segmented their products/or services into manageable units, which requires marketing departments to implement very specific marketing mixes that are tailored to defined target markets. Consider your chosen healthcare organization. Based on the marketing objectives you identified in your Week Three Assignment, use the table below (also found in Chapter 9 of the course text) as a guide to determine at least one possible target market for your marketing plan. Discuss why you chose that market segment and how you chose the target marketing. Table 9.5 The Two-Phase Strategy of Market Segmentation and Target Marketing Phase One: Market Segmentation Phase Two: Target Marketing 1. Identify bases for segmenting the market. 1. Select the target markets. 2. Develop profiles of resulting segments. 2. Develop positioning for each target market. 3. Develop measures of segment. 3. Develop marketing mix attractiveness for each target market. Adapted from Strategic Planning and Marketing in Healthcare Organizations by R. Stevens and L. S. Two companies start up at the same time. Company A claims their annual profits follow a linear model, P(x) = 10x ?? 7 where x is the number of units sold and x ?¥ 1 . Company B claims that their annual profits follow a radical model, P(x)=15 ?? (x ?? 1) + 3 or P(x) = 15sqrt(x ?? 1) + 3, where x is the number of units sold and x ?¥ 1. It is your job to investigate the validity of each claim. 1. Choose five values for x to plug into the linear function, P(x) = 10x ?? 7 and create a table of values. 2. Use the same five x values to plug into the radical function, P(x)=15 ?? x ?? 1 + 3 or P(x) = 15sqrt(x ?? 1) + 3, and create a table of values. 3. Using the table of values from parts 1 and 2 graph both functions. Upload the graph as an attachment to your post, or paste it directly into the DB using the Paste as HTML feature or Picture feature of the toolbar. 4. Using the graphs from part 3 compare the profits of each company and evaluate their claims. Which model seems more realistic, the linear or radical model, and why? 5. Of the function types you have studied so far-linear, quadratic, radical, or rational-which function type is more likely to represent a real profit function for a real company? Give a scenario for a specific type of company, and then give justification for why you chose that function type for that type of company. Second, statistics are used to make inferences and draw conclusions, on the basis of sample data, about a population. We examine descriptive statistics and correlation in this chapter; inferential statistics are discussed in Chapter 13. This chapter will focus on the underlying logic and general procedures for making statistical decisions. Specific calculations for a variety of statistics are provided in Appendix C. SCALES OF MEASUREMENT: A REVIEW Before looking at any statistics, we need to review the concept of scales of measurement. Whenever a variable is studied, the researcher must create an operational definition of the variable and devise two or more levels of the variable. Recall from Chapter 5 that the levels of the variable can be described using one of four scales of measurement: nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio. The scale used determines the types of statistics that are appropriate when the results of a study are analyzed. Also recall that the meaning of a particular score on a variable depends on which type of scale was used when the variable was measured or manipulated. The levels of nominal scale variables have no numerical, quantitative properties. The levels are simply different categories or groups. Most independent variables in experiments are nominal, for example, as in an experiment that compares behavioral and cognitive therapies for depression. Variables such as gender, eye color, hand dominance, college major, and marital status are nominal scale variables; left-handed and right-handed people differ from each other, but not in a quantitative way. Variables with ordinal scale levels exhibit minimal quantitative distinctions. We can rank order the levels of the variable being studied from lowest to highest. The clearest example of an ordinal scale is one that asks people to make rank-ordered judgments. For example, you might ask people to rank the most important problems facing your state today. If education is ranked first, health care second, and crime third, you know the order but you do not know how strongly people feel about each problem: Education and health care may be very close together in seriousness with crime a distant third. With an ordinal scale, the intervals between each of the items are probably not equal. Interval scale and ratio scale variables have much more detailed quantitative properties. With an interval scale variable, the intervals between the levels are equal in size. The difference between 1 and 2 on the scale, for example, is the same as the difference between 2 and 3. Interval scales generally have five or more quantitative levels. You might ask people to rate their mood on a 7-point scale ranging from a very negative to a very positive mood. There is no absolute zero point that indicates an absence of mood. Page 244In the behavioral sciences, it is often difficult to know precisely whether an ordinal or an interval scale is being used. However, it is often useful to assume that the variable is being measured on an interval scale because interval scales allow for more sophisticated statistical treatments than do ordinal scales. Of course, if the measure is a rank ordering (for example, a rank ordering of students in a class on the basis of popularity), an ordinal scale clearly is being used. Ratio scale variables have both equal intervals and an absolute zero point that indicates the absence of the variable being measured. Time, weight, length, and other physical measures are the best examples of ratio scales. Interval and ratio scale variables are conceptually different; however, the statistical procedures used to analyze data with such variables are identical. An important implication of interval and ratio scales is that data can be summarized using the mean, or arithmetic average. It is possible to provide a number that reflects the mean amount of a variable?for example, the average mood of people who won a contest was 5.1 or the mean weight of the men completing the weight loss program was 187.7 pounds. DESCRIBING RESULTS Scales of measurement have important implications for the way that the results of research investigations are described and analyzed. Most research focuses on the study of relationships between variables. Depending on the way that the variables are studied, there are three basic ways of describing the results: (1) comparing group percentages, (2) correlating scores of individuals on two variables, and (3) comparing group means. Comparing Group Percentages Suppose you want to know whether males and females differ in their interest in travel. In your study, you ask males and females whether they like or dislike travel. To describe your results, you will need to calculate the percentage of females who like to travel and compare this with the percentage of males who like to travel. Suppose you tested 50 females and 50 males and found that 40 of the females and 30 of the males indicated that they like to travel. In describing your findings, you would report that 80% of the females like to travel in comparison with 60% of the males. Thus, a relationship between the gender and travel variables appears to exist. Note that we are focusing on percentages because the travel variable is nominal: Liking and disliking are simply two different categories. After describing your data, the next step would be to perform a statistical analysis to determine whether there is a statistically significant difference between the males and females. Statistical significance is discussed in Chapter 13; statistical analysis procedures are described in Appendix C. Page 245 Correlating Individual Scores A second type of analysis is needed when you do not have distinct groups of subjects. Instead, individuals are measured on two variables, and each variable has a range of numerical values. For example, we will consider an analysis of data on the relationship between location in a classroom and grades in the class: Do people who sit near the front receive higher grades? Comparing Group Means Much research is designed to compare the mean responses of participants in two or more groups. For example, in an experiment designed to study the effect of exposure to an aggressive adult, children in one group might observe an adult model behaving aggressively while children in a control group do not. Each child then plays alone for 10 minutes in a room containing a number of toys, while observers record the number of times the child behaves aggressively during play. Aggression is a ratio scale variable because there are equal intervals and a true zero on the scale. In this case, you would be interested in comparing the mean number of aggressive acts by children in the two conditions to determine whether the children who observed the model were more aggressive than the children in the control condition. Hypothetical data from such an experiment in which there were 10 children in each condition are shown in Table 12.1; the scores in the table represent the number of aggressive acts by each child. In this case, the mean aggression score in the model group is 5.20 and the mean score in the no-model condition is 3.10. TABLE 12.1 Scores on aggression measure in a hypothetical experiment on modeling and aggression Page 246For all types of data, it is important to understand your results by carefully describing the data collected. We begin by constructing frequency distributions. FREQUENCY DISTRIBUTIONS When analyzing results, researchers start by constructing a frequency distribution of the data. A frequency distribution indicates the number of individuals who receive each possible score on a variable. Frequency distributions of exam scores are familiar to most college students?they tell how many students received a given score on the exam. Along with the number of individuals associated with each response or score, it is useful to examine the percentage associated with this number. Graphing Frequency Distributions It is often useful to graphically depict frequency distributions. Let’s examine several types of graphs: pie chart, bar graph, and frequency polygon. Pie charts Pie charts divide a whole circle, or pie, into slices that represent relative percentages. Figure 12.1 shows a pie chart depicting a frequency distribution in which 70% of people like to travel and 30% dislike travel. Because there are two pieces of information to graph, there are two slices in this pie. Pie charts are particularly useful when representing nominal scale information. In the figure, the number of people who chose each response has been converted to a percentage?the simple number could have been displayed instead, of course. Pie charts are most commonly used to depict simple descriptions of categories for a single variable. They are useful in applied research reports and articles written for the general public. Articles in scientific journals require more complex information displays. Bar graphs Bar graphs use a separate and distinct bar for each piece of information. Figure 12.2 represents the same information about travel using a bar graph. In this graph, the x or horizontal axis shows the two possible responses. The y or vertical axis shows the number who chose each response, and so the height of each bar represents the number of people who responded to the like and dislike options. FIGURE 12.1 Pie chart Page 247 FIGURE 12.2 Bar graph displaying data obtained in two groups Frequency polygons Frequency polygons use a line to represent the distribution of frequencies of scores. This is most useful when the data represent interval or ratio scales as in the modeling and aggression data shown in Table 12.1. Here we have a clear numeric scale of the number of aggressive acts during the observation period. Figure 12.3 graphs the data from the hypothetical experiment using two frequency polygons?one for each group. The solid line represents the no-model group, and the dotted line stands for the model group. Histograms A histogram uses bars to display a frequency distribution for a quantitative variable. In this case, the scale values are continuous and show increasing amounts on a variable such as age, blood pressure, or stress. Because the values are continuous, the bars are drawn next to each other. A histogram is shown in Figure 12.4 using data from the model group in Table 12.1. What can you discover by examining frequency distributions? First, you can directly observe how your participants responded. You can see what scores are most frequent, and you can look at the shape of the distribution of scores. You can tell whether there are any outliers?scores that are unusual, unexpected, or very different from the scores of other participants. In an experiment, you can compare the distribution of scores in the groups. FIGURE 12.3 Frequency polygons illustrating the distributions of scores in Table 12.1 Note: Each frequency polygon is anchored at scores that were not obtained by anyone (0 and 6 in the no-model group; 2 and 8 in the model group). Page 248 FIGURE 12.4 Histogram showing frequency of responses in the model group DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS In addition to examining the distribution of scores, you can calculate descriptive statistics. Descriptive statistics allow researchers to make precise statements about the data. Two statistics are needed to describe the data. A single number can be used to describe the central tendency, or how participants scored overall. Another number describes the variability, or how widely the distribution of scores is spread. These two numbers summarize the information contained in a frequency distribution. Central Tendency A central tendency statistic tells us what the sample as a whole, or on the average, is like. There are three measures of central tendency?the mean, the median, and the mode. The mean of a set of scores is obtained by adding all the scores and dividing by the number of scores. It is symbolized as ; in scientific reports, it is abbreviated as M. The mean is an appropriate indicator of central tendency only when scores are measured on an interval or ratio scale, because the actual values of the numbers are used in calculating the statistic. In Table 12.1, the mean score for the no-model group is 3.10 and for the model group is 5.20. Note that the Greek letter Σ (sigma) in Table 12.1 is statistical notation for summing a set of numbers. Thus, ΣX is shorthand for sum of the values in a set of scores. The median is the score that divides the group in half (with 50% scoring below and 50% scoring above the median). In scientific reports, the median is abbreviated as Mdn. The median is appropriate when scores are on an ordinal Page 249scale because it takes into account only the rank order of the scores. It is also useful with interval and ratio scale variables, however. The median for the nomodel group is 3 and for the model group is 5. The mode is the most frequent score. The mode is the only measure of central tendency that is appropriate if a nominal scale is used. The mode does not use the actual values on the scale, but simply indicates the most frequently occurring value. There are two modal values for the no-model group?3 and 4 occur equally frequently. The mode for the model group is 5. The median or mode can be a better indicator of central tendency than the mean if a few unusual scores bias the mean. For example, the median family income of a county or state is usually a better measure of central tendency than the mean family income. Because a relatively small number of individuals have extremely high incomes, using the mean would make it appear that the average person makes more money than is actually the case. Variability We can also determine how much variability exists in a set of scores. A measure of variability is a number that characterizes the amount of spread in a distribution of scores. One such measure is the standard deviation, symbolized as s, which indicates the average deviation of scores from the mean. Income is a good example. The Census Bureau reports that the median U.S. household income in 2012 was $53,046 (http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/00000.html). Suppose that you live in a community that matches the U.S median and there is very little variation around that median (i.e., every household earns something close to $53,046); your community would have a smaller standard deviation in household income compared to another community in which the median income is the same but there is a lot more variation (e.g., where many people earn $15,000 per year and many others $5 million per year). It is possible for measures of central tendency in two communities to be close with the variability differing substantially. In scientific reports, the standard deviation is abbreviated as SD. It is derived by first calculating the variance, symbolized as s2 (the standard deviation is the square root of the variance). The standard deviation of a set of scores is small when most people have similar scores close to the mean. The standard deviation becomes larger as more people have scores that lie farther from the mean value. For the model group, the standard deviation is 1.14, which tells us that most scores in that condition lie 1.14 units above and below the mean?that is, between 4.06 and 6.34. Thus, the mean and the standard deviation provide a great deal of information about the distribution. Note that, as with the mean, the calculation of the standard deviation uses the actual values of the scores; thus, the standard deviation is appropriate only for interval and ratio scale variables. Another measure of variability is the range, which is simply the difference between the highest score and the lowest score. The range for both the model and no-model groups is 4. Page 250 GRAPHING RELATIONSHIPS Graphing relationships between variables was discussed briefly in Chapter 4. A common way to graph relationships between variables is to use a bar graph or a line graph. Figure 12.5 is a bar graph depicting the means for the model and no-model groups. The levels of the independent variable (no-model and model) are represented on the horizontal x axis, and the dependent variable values are shown on the vertical y axis. For each group, a point is placed along the y axis that represents the mean for the groups, and a bar is drawn to visually represent the mean value. Bar graphs are used when the values on the x axis are nominal categories (e.g., a no-model and a model condition). Line graphs are used when the values on the x axis are numeric (e.g., marijuana use over time, as shown in Figure 7.1). In line graphs, a line is drawn to connect the data points to represent the relationship between the variables. FIGURE 12.5 Graph of the results of the modeling experiment showing mean aggression scores Choosing the scale for a bar graph allows a common manipulation that is sometimes used by scientists and all too commonly used by advertisers. The trick is to exaggerate the distance between points on the measurement scale to make the results appear more dramatic than they really are. Suppose, for example, that a cola company (cola A) conducts a taste test that shows 52% of the participants prefer cola A and 48% prefer cola B. How should the cola company present these results? The two bar graphs in Figure 12.6 show the most honest method, as well as one that is considerably more dramatic. It is always wise to look carefully at the numbers on the scales depicted in graphs. FIGURE 12.6 Two ways to graph the same data Page 251 CORRELATION COEFFICIENTS: DESCRIBING THE STRENGTH OF RELATIONSHIPS It is important to know whether a relationship between variables is relatively weak or strong. A correlation coefficient is a statistic that describes how strongly variables are related to one another. You are probably most familiar with the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient, which is used when both variables have interval or ratio scale properties. The Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient is called the Pearson r. Values of a Pearson r can range from 0.00 to ±1.00. Thus, the Pearson r provides information about the strength of the relationship and the direction of the relationship. A correlation of 0.00 indicates that there is no relationship between the variables. The nearer a correlation is to 1.00 (plus or minus), the stronger is the relationship. Indeed, a 1.00 correlation is sometimes called a perfect relationship because the two variables go together in a perfect fashion. The sign of the Pearson r tells us about the direction of the relationship; that is, whether there is a positive relationship or a negative relationship between the variables. Data from studies examining similarities of intelligence test scores among siblings illustrate the connection between the magnitude of a correlation coefficient and the strength of a relationship. The relationship between scores of monozygotic (identical) twins reared together is .86 and the correlation for monozygotic twins reared apart is .74, demonstrating a strong similarity of test scores in these pairs of individuals. The correlation for dizygotic (fraternal) twins reared together is less strong, with a correlation of .59. The correlation among non-twin siblings raised together is .46, and the correlation among non-twin siblings reared apart is .24. Data such as these are important in ongoing research on the relative influence of heredity and environment on intelligence (Devlin, Daniels, & Roeder, 1997; Kaplan, 2012). There are several different types of correlation coefficients. Each coefficient is calculated somewhat differently depending on the measurement scale that applies to the two variables. As noted, the Pearson r correlation coefficient is appropriate when the values of both variables are on an interval or ratio scale. We will now focus on the details of the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient. Pearson r Correlation Coefficient To calculate a correlation coefficient, we need to obtain pairs of observations from each subject. Thus, each individual has two scores, one on each of the variables. Table 12.2 shows fictitious data for 10 students measured on the variables of classroom seating pattern and exam grade. Students in the first row receive a seating score of 1, those in the second row receive a 2, and so on. Once we have made our observations, we can see whether the two variables are related. Do the variables go together in a systematic fashion? Page 252 TABLE 12.2 Pairs of scores for 10 participants on seating pattern and exam scores (fictitious data) The Pearson r provides two types of information about the relationship between the variables. The first is the strength of the relationship; the second is the direction of the relationship. As noted previously, the values of r can range from 0.00 to ±1.00. The absolute size of r is the coefficient that indicates the strength of the relationship. A value of 0.00 indicates that there is no relationship. The nearer r is to 1.00 (plus or minus), the stronger is the relationship. The plus and minus signs indicate whether there is a positive linear or negative linear relationship between the two variables. It is important to remember that it is the size of the correlation coefficient, not the sign, that indicates the strength of the relationship. Thus, a correlation coefficient of ??.54 indicates a stronger relationship than does a coefficient of +.45. Scatterplots The data in Table 12.2 can be visualized in a scatterplot in which each pair of scores is plotted as a single point in a diagram. Figure 12.7 shows two scatterplots. The values of the first variable are depicted on the x axis, and the values of the second variable are shown on the y axis. These scatterplots show a perfect positive relationship (+1.00) and a perfect negative relationship (??1.00). You can easily see why these are perfect relationships: The scores on the two variables fall on a straight line that is on the diagonal of the diagram. Each person’s score on one variable correlates precisely with his or her score on the other variable. If we know an individual’s score on one of the variables, we can predict exactly what his or her score will be on the other variable. Such perfect relationships are rarely observed in reality. FIGURE 12.7 Scatterplots of perfect (±1.00) relationships Page 253The scatterplots in Figure 12.8 show patterns of correlation you are more likely to encounter in exploring research findings. The first diagram shows pairs of scores with a positive correlation of +.65; the second diagram shows a negative relationship, ??.77. The data points in these two scatterplots reveal a general pattern of either a positive or negative relationship, but the relationships are not perfect. You can make a general prediction in the first diagram, for instance, that the higher the score on one variable, the higher the score on the second variable. However, even if you know a person’s score on the first variable, you cannot perfectly predict what that person’s score will be on the second variable. To confirm this, take a look at value 1 on variable x (the horizontal axis) in the positive scatterplot. Looking along the vertical y axis, you will see that two individuals had a score of 1. One of these had a score of 1 on variable y, and the other had a score of 3. The data points do not fall on the perfect diagonal shown in Figure 12.7. Instead, there is a variation (scatter) from the perfect diagonal line. FIGURE 12.8 Scatterplots depicting patterns of correlation Page 254The third diagram shows a scatterplot in which there is absolutely no correlation (r = 0.00). The points fall all over the diagram in a completely random pattern. Thus, scores on variable x are not related to scores on variable y. The fourth diagram has been left blank so that you can plot the scores from the data in Table 12.2. The x (horizontal) axis has been labeled for the seating pattern variable, and the y (vertical) axis for the exam score variable. To complete the scatterplot, you will need to plot the 10 pairs of scores. For each individual in the sample, find the score on the seating pattern variable; then go up from that point until you are level with that person’s exam score on the y axis. A point placed there will describe the score on both variables. There will be 10 points on the finished scatterplot. The correlation coefficient calculated from these data shows a negative relationship between the variables (r = ??.88). In other words, as the seating distance from the front of the class increases, the exam score decreases. Although these data are fictitious, a negative relationship has been reported in research on this topic (Benedict & Hoag, 2004; Brooks & Rebata, 1991). Important Considerations Restriction of range It is important that the researcher sample from the full range of possible values of both variables. If the range of possible values is restricted, the magnitude of the correlation coefficient is reduced. For example, if the range of seating pattern scores is restricted to the first two rows, you will not get an accurate picture of the relationship between seating pattern and exam score. In fact, when only scores of students sitting in the first two rows are considered, the correlation between the two variables is exactly 0.00. With a restricted range comes restricted variability in the scores and thus less variability that can be explained. Figure 12.9 illustrates a scatterplot with the entire range of X values represented and with a portion of those values missing because of restriction of range. The problem of restriction of range occurs when the individuals in your sample are very similar on the variable you are studying. If you are studying age as a variable, for instance, testing only 6- and 7-year-olds will reduce your chances of finding age effects. Likewise, trying to study the correlates of intelligence will be almost impossible if everyone in your sample is very similar in intelligence (e.g., the senior class of a prestigious private college). Page 255 FIGURE 12.9 Left scatterplot?positive correlation with entire range of values. Right scatterplot?no correlation with restricted range of values Curvilinear relationship The Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient (r) is designed to detect only linear relationships. If the relationship is curvilinear, as in the scatterplot shown in Figure 12.10, the correlation coefficient will not indicate the existence of a relationship. The Pearson r correlation coefficient calculated from these data is exactly 0.00, even though the two variables clearly are related. Because a relationship may be curvilinear, it is important to construct a scatterplot in addition to looking at the magnitude of the correlation coefficient. The scatterplot is valuable because it gives a visual indication of the shape of the relationship. Computer programs for statistical analysis will usually display scatterplots and can show you how well the data fit to a linear or curvilinear relationship. When the relationship is curvilinear, another type of correlation coefficient must be used to determine the strength of the relationship. FIGURE 12.10 Scatterplot of a curvilinear relationship (Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient = 0.00) Page 256 EFFECT SIZE We have presented the Pearson r correlation coefficient as the appropriate way to describe the relationship between two variables with interval or ratio scale properties. Researchers also want to describe the strength of relationships between variables in all studies. Effect size refers to the strength of association between variables. The Pearson r correlation coefficient is one indicator of effect size; it indicates the strength of the linear association between two variables. In an experiment with two or more treatment conditions, other types of correlation coefficients can be calculated to indicate the magnitude of the effect of the independent variable on the dependent variable. For example, in our experiment on the effects of witnessing an aggressive model on children’s aggressive behavior, we compared the means of two groups. In addition to knowing the means, it is valuable to know the effect size. An effect size correlation coefficient can be calculated for the modeling and aggression experiment. In this case, the effect size correlation value is .69. As with all correlation coefficients, the values of this effect size correlation can range from 0.00 to 1.00 (we do not need to worry about the direction of relationship, so plus and minus values are not used). The advantage of reporting effect size is that it provides us with a scale of values that is consistent across all types of studies. The values range from 0.00 to 1.00, irrespective of the variables used, the particular research design selected, or the number of participants studied. You might be wondering what correlation coefficients should be considered indicative of small, medium, and large effects. A general guide is that correlations near .15 (about .10 to .20) are considered small, those near .30 are medium, and correlations above .40 are large. It is sometimes preferable to report the squared value of a correlation coefficient; instead of r, you will see r2. Thus, if the obtained r = .50, the reported r2 = .25. Why transform the value of r? This reason is that the transformation changes the obtained r to a percentage. The percentage value represents the percent of variance in one variable that is accounted for by the second variable. The range of r2 values can range from 0.00 (0%) to 1.00 (100%). The r2 value is sometimes referred to as the percent of shared variance between the two variables. What does this mean, exactly? Recall the concept of variability in a set of scores?if you measured the weight of a random sample of American adults, you would observe variability in that weights would range from relatively low weights to relatively high weights. If you are studying factors that contribute to people’s weight, you would want to examine the relationship between weights and scores on the contributing variable. One such variable might be gender: In actuality, the correlation between gender and weight is about .70 (with males weighing more than females). That means that 49% (squaring .70) of the variability in weight is accounted for by variability in gender. You have therefore explained 49% of the variability in the weights, but there is still 51% of the variability that is not accounted for. This variability might be accounted for by other variables, such as the weights of Page 257the biological mother and father, prenatal stress, diet, and exercise. In an ideal world, you could account for 100% of the variability in weights if you had enough information on all other variables that contribute to people’s weights: Each variable would make an incremental contribution until all the variability is accounted for. As the new HR manager of a jewelry company, you have put together some preliminary reports for the CEO. One of the reports you compiled focuses on employee turnover. The jewelry company is an organization with aggressive expansion goals. In the last 2 years, the company has continually hired new employees, yet it has not achieved the staffing levels it desired. The company knew that some employees had left the organization, but turnover rates have not been formally tracked. After your preliminary fact-finding, you were surprised to discover that the turnover rate for the past year was 38%. You know the CEO will not be pleased with this turnover rate, and you have made the decision to prepare yourself more before presenting the report to the CEO. Turnover presents a significant cost for an organization, so you recognize that this will be an opportunity for you to demonstrate how you can partner with the executive team to turn this situation around and help the company be more competitive. Prepare a short presentation for the CEO on the situation and possible reasons as to why employees are leaving at such a high rate. As you are preparing your presentation, consider the following: ¢In detail, discuss several of the reasons why employees tend to leave organizations. ¢You plan to present the financial impact to the CEO to get a real sense of the significance of the situation. What factors will you consider in preparing this financial estimate? For this assignment, you are not required to determine the actual dollar figure, but instead, you are to consider what would contribute to the cost of turnover. ¢Being proactive, what measures can be taken to assess the morale of current employees, and how likely they are to leave or stay? ¢What process do you recommend for partnering with the management team to reduce turnover in the upcoming years? ¢As you consider your role, how will you position this to the CEO to demonstrate the value you can bring to addressing this problem?[supanova_question]
