Write your decision as well as a legal opinion explaining the reason for your decision. Your team will probably only need 350-500 words, and you don’t have to worry about legalese unless you want to.
Your options at this level of appeal are very limited. Under the rules of the International Court of Appeals and the treaty creating the court, you can choose from only two options in addressing this case. First, you can choose to uphold the decision of the Egyptian courts. Or, in the alternative, you can choose to dismiss all charges against Mr. Stephenson. You may not be inventive in deciding the sentence, but must choose only from the options presented.
If your panel is not unanimous in its decision, you will also submit a dissenting opinion at the end of your document explaining why the minority of the panel would have entered a different verdict.
